Captaincy and Vice Captaincy options for Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2023

I believe it is too late to change Captain and we should all back Babar as captain for the World Cup 2023. However, I strongly believe that vice-captain should be immediately changed from Shadab to Rizwan. Rizwan as a VC should be given a role to provide leadership to the team from behind the stumps and also help Babar setting the fields/ bowling changes.

This change will have 2 advantages:

1) Shadab will not feel secure and permanent in the team and will work harder on his bowling which is his primary and main role. His batting and fielding is a bonus not a requirement.

2) Wicketkeepers have best vision of the game on the field and plans are created and changed on the field not what management tells a day prior. Rizwan can definitely play a key role in that. However, I would want someone from management to give a lecture to Rizwan to stop being over-enthusiastic and more serious on the field. Team Pakistan needs him to play a key role to gel the team together during tough times in the field. In the current team, only he and Shaheen have some leadership skills and I would want Shaheen to focus on his bowling as premium wicket taker match winner.

We have no candidates to take over the captaincy, only reasonable option for me would be Imad Wasim.

We will need to adjust our team a bit. I personally feel that with Naseem out of the World Cup and nobody to replace him with new ball Imad Wasim could be the better choice than Nawaz as Imad can bowl in PP too.
Secondly, Usama Mir comes in as leg spinner to adjust the team combination.

For the sake of better team, Usama and Imad together can replace Shadab and Nawaz.
Imad will bat at No.7 then and play as 5th bowler with Ifti or Agha helping him out

Nope that won't happen. Human psychology normally suggests that some people like to fire guns from other shoulders. With Babar as captain, Rizwan is too over-enthusiastic but I have seen him captaining sides, he gets quite serious while on the role.
On a funnier note though, reviews are still going away sooner .

VC offers support to the captain with on field advices. When captain is fielding in the outfield (Babar does that near death overs), somebody has to provide leadership and guidance to the bowlers. Field settings and placements also need to be executed. Wicket keepers have an advantage that they stay close to stumps all 50 overs.

If that’s the case , I’ve yet to see (live tv) any input from Shadab. Makes total sense to put Rizwan to at least vice captain (ideally captain)

I don't think it is an ideal time to change the captain ahead of such a big tournament but vice captain can certainly be changed and it is very likely that Shaheen Afridi will be named as the vice captain to replace Shadab Khan. This is only a myth, injuries can happen to anyone. We shouldn't exclude fast bowlers from captaincy consideration just because of that.

Shaheen is injury prone, and during the 1990's era tours weren't played as frequently back then.

Injuries can happen to anyone yes, but a pulled hamstring, shoulder injury etc is enough to put a bowler out for life. Bowlers do the most heavy work out of any unit in the team.

A batter can be fat and overweight like inzi and their fine, same with spinners. They do, obviously have to be fit to play but it's extra for a bowler.

Playing a bowler in every match is what caused naseem and Rauf to dissappear during the Asia cup. And in shaheen's case a broken finger.
