Aus v Eng [CBS Final #1] - Commentary Thread

Best of 3 final.

Aus won the toss - and elected to bat first.

Only about 20 people in the ground at the moment!

Couple of boundaries of Mahmood - 11-0.

Azhars looking better than Saj at the moment!

two fours from the over by Hayden. both driven to wide mid off
11-0 after 2

What's the conditions like? I'm at school and I cant watch it. I know it's sunny, because I live here. What's the pitch like? What's the crowd like?

No problem. Just click the f5 button or the refresh button to update it.

stadium is more than half empty and the top two tiers are almost empty but the OZ crowd is making noise. I haven't heard Barmy Army much. pitch looks like a batting pitch. don't see much movement by the bowlers.

Azhar gets Gilchrist with a slow one - ct by Freddie!

Gilly gone!
Caught by Flintoff off Mahmood's bowling.

I'd love to go there. But I'm afraid that mum wouldnt let me. And it wouldnt be until about 5pm that I get there. It would take me an hour to get there by train. :6: :6:

right. u r kiddo. mom sees u on tv,she beats the crap out of u. :16: :p

I bet you, that because the ground is so big! There is still probably at least 20,000 there now. Atleast.

Less than 10,000 in the ground according BBC commentators.

Mum wouldnt see me, because she'd be at the police station reporting me as a missing child.

Ill be away now. I have to do a job for school then go home. Cya!

Australia on course for a big one..

Some decent birds in the crowd though...

50 for Haydunce off 64 deliveries. Somehow he seems to have played his way back into form...

Assuming we can keep wickets in hand and one of these two goes on to play a big innings, we should be able to get 300+.

OZ must be looking for 300 from hereon.

They showed a couple just now. The one on the left isn't half bad.

As expected a fine start from AUS.

Bad news for the rest of the world: AUS haven't forgotten about Brad Hogg!

I'm back! :D Had to do one more job for the school office then came home!
1/133
Hayden 67
Ponting 50

350 maybe? Currently going at 5 p/o after only 25 overs which is great. I think we could make that. Although, we are missing Symonds and big Bear White is dropped.

4444444444444444 for Dubya, driven through the covers.

Ponting giving a little smile to Nixon after he puts Mahmood away.

444444444444444444 more for Dubya, pulled through midwicket. He's having a bit of friendly repartee with Nixon.

Botham having another rant about Nixon: "There are some blokes you just don't say anything to - Steve Waugh was one, Allan Border was another, leave them alone. You could add Ricky Ponting to that list"

LOL that was some woeful fielding from England, Dalrymple couldn't hit all three stumps from a a metre away. :)))

OZ scoring about 6 runs an over, all in singles and twos.

Even more woeful fielding from England, Panesar this time couldn't catch the ball with both hands and run out Ponting well short of his ground. In fairness to him the throw from Dalrymple was pretty ordinary. That's two possible runouts that Dalrymple has stuffed up now.

Now Nixon is giving Mahmood a bit of a spray for throwing the ball to the wrong end. OZ 1-167 after 29.5 overs.

GONE! Collingwood takes the catch. Ponting is gone and Panesar gets his first.
Ponting makes 75. Great innings.
2/170

And Collywobble takes a great catch at cover, Ponting gone for 75. 2-170.

Gone! Mahmood takes a nice catch on the boundarie. Dalrymple gets Haydos out.
He goes for 82
3/180
33.2 overs

Haydunce gone now for 82, 3-180. Skied a massive shot which must have brought rain it went up so high but dropped just a few feet inside the rope where Mahmood took a good catch. Mini collapse?

Hussey in now.

Actually, it's Stodge who's come out.

66666666666666666 for Clarke, OZ 3-192. Anything less than 300 from here would be an underachievement.

Hodge not out in the run out chance.

Nasser Hussain is moaning that if the 3rd umpire had used the Sky camera feed (which only Sky is showing) then Stodge would've been out.

Panesar strikes! Stodge is out and Nasser is wetting himself. Though it looked like a poor decision as he was hit well outside the line of offstump. Stodge got a raw one there, poor bugger. Shocker from Harper, but even funnier listening to Nasser trying to backtrack after realising it was a shocker. :)))

a 2 wicket maiden in the 47th over! Lee Brilliantly run out by Collingwood

248/8

Watson outta there. Slower ball just chipped to mid wicket.

250/9

BOWLED! Pigeon plays an ordinary shot and is bowled by Freddy.
Aus all out for 252. Great comeback by England. From 1/170- 10/252. Great stuff!

Is this the beginning of Cracks in the Aussie Fortress......after such a start you never expect Australia to end so tamely. When Aussies collapse they do it as a whole.....Never after being 2/170

Hussey finally fails.

what is his average going from 70 to 60 maybe

Loye gone plumb lbw to lee for a duck. That looked out but hawkeye said sliding down leg. I reckon that it would be harsh on the bowler not to give it. Fair decision by Harper.

1/1

A wicket falls already. I was going to say that England have a chance here..

Nasser Hussain can shut his bloody mouth. Critical of Harper after that decision. It was missing leg stump by 1mm and looked out live. You cannot criticize him for that one. The Hodge one was a shocker though.

cracking pull shot by Bell. Down the pitch he came and crack!

Joyce plays the most ridiculous stroke. Chips it straight to mid on where McGrath takes it easily.

14/2

Strauss gone now lbw to Bracken. I want to see a replay of this one.

Replay suggests it was plumb. Rauf gets a decision correct!

the ball hit the pad outside the leg stump ... that was a clear NOT OUT ... and dont be so critical of one of the best commies out there ...

One of the best commies? :))):))):))):))):))):))):))):)))
AHAHHAHA! He is absolutely crap! You gotta be kidding me!

Live it looked plumb. As soon as i saw it i thought out. Hawkeye said it missed leg stump by exactly 1mm. Nasser then goes on a vendetta against him because he got the Hodge decision wrong. when Strauss is lbw he bums Rauf and saying how he got it right unlike Harper. This is Asad Rauf who has made more errors than the British Satellites that went to Mars. Strauss incidently also nicked it so that decision was even wrong. He is such an idiot Hussain, to go on top of the fact he is so dull.

Well you are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine ... but I find him to be better than most of 'em out there with his analyses and insight into the game ... he might get carried off here and there but that happens with almost everyone ...

also - you listen to a lot of aussie commentators mate ... whereas I have to listen to the idiocy of people like rameez raja, arun lal, shivaramakrishnan, atul wadekar etc.

Tony Greig saw it live and immediately opined it was going down ... later he defended his decision with the help of slow replays and the hawkeye ... also the hawkeye doesnt really give the right idea always ... its incorrect many number of times ...

McGrath gives Bell a life dropping a dolly, a real dolly.

BLOODY HELL! OMFG! PIGEON! What a **** birthday. He drops one.
