Champions Trophy Prediction thread for Pakistan!

Once upon a time - we used to take reaching the SF's of ICC tournaments for granted. In fact, between 2007 and 2012 - we had reached the SF of every ICC tournament! However, everything sadly fell apart during the 2013 CT and ever since we have not reached another SF in an ICC tournament

However, 4 years later today - everything has come full circle and we playing in another CT.

How far can we go this time?

I personally think we can reach the semi's as beating SL and even India or SAF is definitely possible.

My prediction is a SF berth.

i really dont expect pakistan to win.. but then in my heart i want them to win every si gle vame like a champion.. still have those memories of 2009 where every single game was played with a much higher spirit.

Youngsters and captain will fail. Malik and Hafeez will do relatively well( the former will score match irrelevant 50 or two, once team is down 10 for 4, while latter will cash in with one big score against Sri Lanka and fail against everyone else).
Selectors will be forced to retain Malik and Hafeez who will do really well till World Cup because we will play rubbish competition. After another disaster of World Cup Malik and Hafeez will retire in disgrace. Rest of the younger members will be bereft of any confidence having been dropped regularly over this 24 month period.

Sharjeel and Latif screwed us big time.

Exactly. Was just watching highlights of Pak-Eng t20 which Pak won easily. Superb captaincy by Sarfraz to restrict Eng for 130 after they were 50 for 0 n 6 overs and then Sharjeel and Khalid destroyed bowlers on a flat pitch.

I have confidence in rest of our batting line up (if Haris plays) except for opening.

Pakistan is going into the tournament as the lowest ranked team. A top 4 finish is unexpected and would be excellent work - it requires winning 2 out 3 games.

All depends on the first game. Win it and you get a path to SF otherwise pretty much impossible.

Harris Sohails inclusion has made me optimistic. If we could have replaced Azhar and Wahab with Sohail Khan and Umar Amin or Sharjeel wasn't banned I would be feeling even more confident.

why we always lose key players when we start progressing? we were hoping to build the team with players like sharjeel and latif but we lost them as we were gearing to go.especially sharjeel is a big loss and im sure he wouldve dominated indian bowlers from word go. then we lost umar akmal(who is being wasted). imagine umar and sharjeel opnening!
anyway only hope is because we have an active captain in sarfraz so we may get to SF but he must bat after babar and before hafeez and malik to give himself enough over to play with.
