I’ve heard this “same page” argument countless times, and it oversimplifies what actually happened. It wasn’t just Imran Khan, virtually the entire country felt aligned in a rare moment of collective hope. Pakistanis genuinely believed they were finally moving past decades of corrupt, family run political enterprises. And yes, like every major political shift in Pakistan, this too required the Army’s blessing, that’s simply the reality of our political structure.

But the crucial difference this time is that the public is no longer willing to accept the Establishment’s narrative at face value. The disagreement between the people and the power brokers is out in the open, amplified by multiple media platforms that the state can no longer fully control.

And it’s important to remember, Nawaz Sharif’s downfall didn’t begin with any “same page” claim, it began the day his name appeared in the Panama Papers.

The difference is, if Imran Khan was just interested in cementing his power base, he would have just gone along with the Generals and signed off on everything they put in front of him. The supporters of Imran Khan trusted in him as a man of integrity, so if the army fell in line, then the assumption was that the Generals had stepped back and were going to let him govern. No one is under any illusion that the Bhutto or Sharif clan will show any backbone. They are yes men basically.

Which terrorism charge? Any ideas? Have they come to court and if they havent, why not?
Can you explain why this lady isnt in prison of terrorism charges and sedition. And at this point you will become a gunga and run off?

While I agree Imran has now come to symbolise the hopes of those Pakistanis who seek to break the country out of 75 years of Army control, I believe retroactively fitting him into that role is absurd. It's impossible to find one interview (and believe me...I searched) from pre-2020 where he criticised the amount of influence the army had over Pakistani politics. In fact, there is lots of evidence of him supporting Musharraf as dictator of Pakistan.

Imran Khan campaigned for years on one single platform - denouncing the corruption of the traditional political parties in Pakistan. Opposition to the Establishment was never up for discussion.

He does seem to have realised since his imprisonment that the parties in Pakistan are now and have always been mere puppets. Of course including his own. He was remarkably frank in the famous Atlantic Council interview where he admits that he used to call the ISI to get his bills passed.

It's impossible not to respect him now as he sits in jail - bravely (or should I say bull-headedly) insisting on principle but I would've truly acknowledged his vision and courage if he'd acted when he had the chance - finding a way to cut army influence on Pakistani politics...giving up Prime Ministership and going back for a bigger mandate if he had to.

We can agree to disagree in that I personally think he's a huge opportunist and typical populist in addition to being politically naive.

The fact remains though that anyone who professes to back democracy and doesn't support Imran Khan over the current Army run facade is being extremely duplicitous.

"Judge Richard Spearman KC directed that the apology must remain on Raja’s social media accounts and website for 28 days. The court also ordered Raja to pay £50,000 in damages and £260,000 in legal costs by December 22."

He was caught spreading fake news as usual and this time the court asked him to pay damages and make a direct apology. Talking to you kills my brain cells. I would rather you not quote me anywhere.

Do you really believe he stole watches, lol? You haven’t even understood the case, but let’s stick to the idea of “stealing watches” and try to understand why this person would ever do such a thing.

This person’s entire life has been centered around fighting corruption, recovering stolen wealth, and demanding equal justice for every citizen.

When it comes to money, he has far more opportunities than most people could ever imagine. A single phone call could bring in huge amounts. He could sell countless items from his past career and make serious money. He could work as an expert commentator and earn a very high income. He could travel around the world giving autographs and easily earn even more.

Why would he destroy his reputation by “stealing” watches? These accusations are simply made up, yet a few people here will still try to defend them.

The lion has been in jail, facing mental torture for 2.5 years. For what, exactly? If he wanted a deal, he could accept one instantly and walk free — but his situation is much bigger than that.

They have changed institutions, altered constitutional rules, harmed people, kidnapped people, and made questionable deals just to keep him locked up. They are even trying to raise the voting age to 25 so younger people cannot vote for him, lol.

In sha Allah, one day he will come out, and when all institutions finally do what they are supposed to do, only then will I be able to take this country seriously. Right now everything feels fake — that’s why I don’t compare its economy, sports, or anything else with other countries. Everything is simply on hold, waiting for something to happen.

It will be a long and difficult struggle for its citizens, but in the end, the outcome will be good for them, In sha Allah.

All this proves is that Pakistanis are prepared to be critical of the establishment unlike the Indian posters who will support Modi no matter what.

There are a few Modi critics also among Indian posters dear for example @Nikhil_cric @MP2011 etc and we respect their stance.
I also was one of them but Modiji did win me over with all the progress India's made during his reign.

Indian democracy remains vibrant and healthy.
Actually, we do not have a strong opposition which would have strengthened our democracy. Instead our opposition is so bad, they have lost trust of majority of people.

Of the 100% of the BJP voter sin India, arguably 25% only do so because they find the opposition worse.

I am an open minded and ever evolving person dear. I don't hold on to beliefs rigidly. Provided better arguements, i am open to changing my beliefs.

Modi, after initial hiccups, turned out to be a good leader for India eventually. The economy progressed under him. Foreign relations can be a matter of debate for some but people also have to take into accout India is a massively isolated nation in the world from religion point of view and our path to achieveing true stratehic autonomy has not been easier in a West, China led world order. Yet, i believe the nation has steered through the tricky terrain effectively under PM Modi's leadership/ He too has evolved and is a much more patient, wise leader in 2026 than he was 10-15 years ago. The way he's handled TACO bhai situation is a true masterclass in diplomacy and statesmanship imho.

I used to communicate with Adil Raja while Imran Khan was in power, he has now changed his number, he always had a grandiose over the top rambling personality.

In one of the videos Adil Raja talks about General Musharraf (and advise Adil Raja) and his interactions with him and here is the summary:
  1. Story 1: Adil Raja is GC (Cadet) while Pervez Musharraf is a Lieutenant General and commanding I (Strike) Corps at Mangla
  2. Story 2: Adil Raja is a second lieutenant (lowest rank) while Pervez Musharraf is a General, Chief Martial law and President of Pakistan
Anyone reading this does not need to know anything about the military disciple of Pak Army but anyone who heard Adil Raja and he continues to believe him is literally a FOOL!

Adil Raja's exploits as a GC (Cadet), second Lieutenant, Lieutenant, Captain and then Major (who medically retired) are so outrageously ******** that it isn't even funny!

most of the pro imran vloggers can be summarised as everything gov does bad, everything gov says wrong. whilst i understand the sentiment they lack any nuance or geopolitical knowledge, like nearly geo political analysts in the region, and instead rely on sensationalising and echo chamber videos to hold on to their subscriber base.

yes the army has exploited pakistan, and yes the vast majority of the political system is corrupt, and yes pakistans history is replete with decades of gro political blunders, but imran made mistakes too, and has his own failings, and its the hypocracy and cult like worship without acknowledging any of his failings which make a lot of his social media supporters insufferable.

i think imran should free, i think imran won the last election, i think he has been treated horrifically unjustly, but i also think hes a strategically naive, ideologically stubborn and immature and has a problematically large ego and him being in charge of pakistan wouldnt materailly change pakistan.

Not really, don't know any better. Don't know the man personally. But generally, everyone adds a bit of masala to everything in Pakistan, especially when recounting old tales.

I am generally skeptical of everyone, including the uber nationals, as they can blind you to the failings of person/government/institution. After all, we are not here to worship the rulers.

That said, Pakistan army is the number one problem in Pakistan as it 1. Takes top talent to its ranks because it offers you a great life and 2. Stranglehold of every sphere of life in Pakistan.

Problem is not Imran khan Himself

His Supporters who think everything is bad because he is in Jail and has been treated bad. Thats True and Pak Army is root cause of literally every bad thing thats outside their mandate but we cannot disown the army in face of hostile Enemies who are trying to eat you up. Army is our last line of defense and even with all the baggage they carry , we still have to Support them in Wars and matters of National security without thinking about Hard handedness meeted out to IK

Just state that Pakistan Army needs serious reform from top to bottom and sideways and put under civilian oversight and ISI needs to stop manipulating elections and democracy.

Pakistan Army is hated by the people and no amount of bombing Afghans will redeem it.

For how long can this continue, you will always have enemies, does that mean the status quo remains forever.

Army has to do its job and that is to do the job they are meant to under the constitution.

The civilian government has to be empowered to do what they have been mandated to do.

I think Muneer is a fascist. His political ambitions and Personal Ego has Hurt Army's standing among General Public. I live in Pak and i can tell you its true. I even have first hand accounts from my Govt Employed High Rank Friends how bad ISI intervened in Feb 2024. Earlier it used to be pre poll rigging and manipulation of voters but Feb 2024 they executed poll day rigging on mass scale

Politicians are in vicious cycle of blaming each other by siding with extenal forces. Unless that cycle breaks and politicians Sit together and reject interference , its not happening. IK himself is hurdle in that

this is true, but if no one has the political capibility to wrangle power out of the armies hands and enforce civilian control, how on earth can they be expected to manage geo politics on a global level. one benefit of the armies strength is that whoever wrangles power from them is likely to be political mind of the highest order.

In a world where thousands of innocents are dying due to ruthless attacks from US, Israel suffering of one individual will naturally not have the same impact.

I still hope he’s doing ok for everything he’s done for my nation.

Pakistanis haven't done much when millions of their own are suffering either.

You have to know the unique situation of our nation. We are not really a free nation. If we were, Iran wouldn’t have been fighting alone right now.
 
Imran Khan is a bigger threat to forces outside Pakistan than within Pakistan. Asim Munir or regime in Pakistan are simply obeying the commands of the West.

Imagine if Imran Khan wasn't in the jail during the last 2.5 years. He would have been the loudest voice against Israel after Oct-7 atrocities. He would be the loudest voice uniting the Ummah for support of Palestine. Thing with Imran Khan is that given his persona he carries a massive influence. Whenever Imran speaks a lot of people listen.

The US and West certainly don't want a uniting voice with Muslims and if Epstein's email is anything to go by Imran Khan is a much bigger threat than any other hence he is in the current condition.

For the current regime the writing is on the wall. Bajwa who orchestrated the regime change is out of anyone's sight since Munir's takeover. For all the info in public it seems he is restricted to his residence only with outside contacts shut. Also he had a fatal fall this month as a result of which he has a memory loss and couldn't recognize anyone, some reports its a brain hemorrhage. The next is Qazi Isa, the chief justice who ordered the most disputed elections of Pakistan essentially taking the electoral symbol of PTI away. This man again is nowhere to be seen, lives his life outside of Pakistan where he still gets an earful from overseas Pakistanis. The latest is that he has completed changed his looks so he is unrecognisable.

These are couple of examples of major players within regime change who are no longer in power. How the life of these powerful people have been decimated in a small time is a lesson from Allah. I see a similar fate for Asim Munir once he leaves power. He would not have anywhere to go after that which is why he wants to hold onto power indefinitely. Like the rest justice will happen with Asim Munir in this life or next.
