Congratulations to New Zealand as they become the first team to inflict a 3-0 Test series whitewash on India, in India

NZ are a very good side in the SC. They drew 1-1 against Pakistan in the UAE in 2014 and a 2-1 Win against Pakistan in the UAE in 2018.

They would have won 1-0 against Pakistan in Pakistan in 2023 had it not been for a Sarfaraz Ahmed special and bad light.

Beating a red hot Indian team in India 3-0 is perhaps the greatest subcontinent achievement for a Western team.

New Zealand spinner cites key reason behind historic win in India

Ajaz Patel credited the visiting side’s adaptability across different playing conditions and believes that toss was a key difference between a historic triumph in India after a 2-0 loss in Sri Lanka

Having been a major architect in New Zealand becoming the first touring side to best India 3-0 in a Test series at home, left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel ascribed his team’s preparation for the different kinds of surfaces in India as a major factor for the historic win.

Ajaz, who notched 11 wickets across the two innings of the Mumbai Test, shed light on the Kiwis’ preparation back home ahead of the India tour.

"We had a great winter back home where we prepared on turning wickets and we made sure we had different surfaces that we tried and practised on so we were, I guess, conditioned to bowling on different surfaces as well,” Ajaz said.

The 36-year-old went on to talk about the nature of the three pitches used across the Test series in Bangalore, Pune and Mumbai, and how well New Zealand adapted to them.

"It's been three different surfaces and three different games, and we’re well aware that one of the challenges of going to Asia is that the conditions are going to change all the time and you have to be adaptable and even within the game the conditions change very quickly.

“I mean even in this Mumbai Test, I was bowling in the first innings and I felt like I was bowling really well, but the wicket wasn't really turning and then (when) I came back after Lunch, all of a sudden everything started happening.”

Ajaz marked a memorable comeback to the Wankhede Stadium, the venue where he had joined the exclusive club of bowlers who have claimed all 10 wickets in a Test innings - after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble - against India back in 2021.

BCCI Top Brass Grills Gambhir, Rohit & Agarkar For 6 Hours After New Zealand Humiliation: Report

After India’s 0-3 humilation by New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held a post-morten of the series, according to a report.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny had a meeting with captain Rohit Sharma, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and head coach Guatam Gambhir, with the latter joining online.

As per PTI, India’s performace, along the decisions of opting for rank turners, resting Jasprit Bumrah and Gambhir’s coaching style were discussed in the meeting. The report adds that the questions were asked about certain decisions taken by the team management during the course of the series.

There were also discussions about Gambhir’s style of coaching which is very different from his predecessor Rahul Dravid and how the team is getting used to it.

“It was a six hour marathon meeting which was obviously on cards after such a debacle. India are going on a tour of Australia and the BCCI would obviously like to ensure that the team is back on track and would like to know how the think-tank (Gambhir-Rohit-Agarkar) are going about it," a senior BCCI source privy to development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

It was learnt that BCCI honchos weren’t exactly happy that pace spearhead and team’s vice-captain Bumrah was rested for the third Test and why the team opted for a rank turner after being beaten on a similar kind of surface in Pune.

“Bumrah’s absence was discussed although it was a precautionary move. Opting for a rank turner despite India not faring well on these tracks are some of the issues that came up for discussion," the source informed.

The trio were told to give suggestions on how corrective measures can be taken.

I find it funny that Jay Shah was grilling any of these people. What has he ever done besides being Amit Shah's son, to even be in this position?

Ravi Ashwin said on his YouTube channel:

"It was difficult for me to see how people reacted - how did they react? Everyone should apologise - sir, this is a sport. I just want to say one thing, everyone was hurt, as Indian cricket fans, but let me promise you, no one can hurt as much as a player in the dressing room - so doubting the hurt is criminal, because players make careers & their careers are broken by what they do on the field, so I believe that character assassination shouldn't be done by anyone,"
