Cornered Tigers [No Negativity Thread]

Have to play with the same mentality as against Australia. That was the best victory of the tournament and have to continue like that.

So we're in that position again. Having just been bowled out for 72, strangely resembles how we got bundled out in 92 against Eng. But with our team you just never know, yes I think we've picked some of the squad wrong, yes India should beat us and are favourites but let's get behind our team and be positive!

You know in 92 pak only fluked the world cup, the cornered tigers thing although true to certain extent, but what it really came down to us relying on other teams to get certain results to make sure we got through to semis after a terrible round robin, then we got lucky in both semi final and final in situations where we would normally lose, against Nzealand Inzimam won the game after going ballistic even by t20 standards today and then in final the umpires gave us crucial decisions and somehow we managed to get to 249 with getting lucky with the big hitting oaying off and then it was the bowling of Wasim akram to get us the match by those 2 legendary wickets in 2 legendary balls otherwise we would have lost that match too!
 
^lol mate, there's ifs and buts in everything. What if the DRS had gone Pak's way in the 2011 semi, what if Ajmal hadn't bowled an off colour last over against Hussey? The list goes on. You're probably just a troll anyway.

The point is in 92, we were virtually out but squeezed through and played like Tigers for the remainder of the tournament.

Even if We lose to India, we can still win he tournament.
 
I am just being honest, and I dont see what relevance other tournaments have to this, we are talking about cornered tigers which is related from 92 where we got the tag, and we didnt play like tigers in semi and final, for me playing like a tiger is being farless from word go and savaging the opponent like a real tiger would, we never gave up ofcourse and never backed down after being in terrible situations and miracles happened an by God's grace we won. Bowling wise yes we were awesome but batting in the semi and final was flukey you have to admit.
As a 15 yr old I rem waking up for sehri and then watching all the games pretty much live on tv!!! And praying for us!
Infact I think it has to do with our prayers being answere in holy ramzan! Believe me I am far from a troll!!!

To become cornered tigers....one would need to get cornered first....so is Pakistan planning to loose first 2 games and then win it all from there on all the while hoping other teams results go their way???????????

You need luck to win Tournaments I mean India winning the Mohali game was more because Pakistan choked than India playing brilliant cricket. But India showed greater mental strength to go through. I mean we could say if We hadn't dropped SRT 6 times we would've won or if Misbah and YK didn't tuk tuk we would've won but we didn't win India did .

I agree partially....Because when an "IF" comes into picture a huge range of future possibilities also come along...
For example :If Sachins first catch had been taken...there is no guarantee rest of the game would have gone as long as it did...........Who knows maybe Dhoni or Yuvraj would have scored a 100 after that or maybe India would have folded under 150....the possibilities are endless......and before you say anything take into consideration the fact that if Sachin had got out earlier...Yuvraj would have come a lot earlier and Wahab may not have been bowling to get that magic ball...Yuvraj would have not got out first ball and game could have been different

All I am saying is if an event changes...the events to follow also change accordingly

And so far everything that's happened after the kit launch has been a pile of 💩

I could come up with a few choice tags but dont want a warning from the mods.

Not blaming him or anyone in particular, but what proved an inspiration at that time has held us back for 23 years.. same old rubbish attitude. We need to get over this mentality. Why should we be cornered in this first place?

I definitely see how the phrase has become a drag and how its recyclement has been a detriment upon Pakistan Cricket and its fans. But I guess it it the only straw the team can clutch onto right now, because they are far behind every other nations in terms of professionalism, development ect and will continue to do so until we have someone competent running the Cricketing affairs of Pakistan.

I myself have wasted sleep and essay writing time to watch the games but lets not be depressed over it, its just a game at the end of the day.

We desperately need good crowd tomorrow. Although Lords match was on weekend & this one is on weekdays, but still hope Pakistanis will still be able to fill up the stadium and make great noise. Also management needs to avail the opportunity & get Army bosses deliver speeches to the players if they have not done already.

NZ is a pretty overrated team at the moment their position in the rankings table and the "undefeated" tag is flattering for them to say the least. They are clearly the most susceptible team out of the top 4 right now. Could be a close game but I don't see us losing to a team that stumbled and fumbled to beat SA, WI, and Ban. Sad I can't watch the match as I have an exam tomorrow :( Gonna try and finish the exam quick and comeback to us finishing off the NZ Thrashing!!

Wahab has been very good. The main thing is we need to hold onto those catches. I don't mind a misfield here and there as it is impossible to completely rectify that in 2 days. But let's just hold onto the catches especially the easy ones.

Its an ICC tournament & we have peaked at just the right time. Only windies of 79 or aussies of 03 can stop us from here on.
 
Thanks for everyone who was present at Edgbaston today. Never watched a match before in which every run was cheered loudly no matter how it came. Keep it up & bring more flags in next match.
 
This game had the fans in tears, both through the match and at the end. Roller-coaster emotion ride. Well-done lads! Special shout out to Wahab - this guy is all heart.
 
Power of positivity. I have never seen a person with a negative mindset to be successful in any field of human activity.
 
Only the 2nd time Pakistan won a World Cup game from after being 0/1.
Other such instance vs New Zealand in Christchurch during the 1992 edition (also the 8th game)
 
Wahab's fighting abilities are amazing.

Imagine Junaid Khan coming to bat in that position of the match. Hoping against hope that Hasan would get his mojo back because we really need to have that venom in the tail if needed.

When will this humiliation end..!! :(

Sometimes I think we should just stop playing now so we don't have to live with so many negative memories before we accept that Pakistan cricket has officially died...

This is a positive suggestion though...
