HE did make and do with what he had, which was lingard as the playmaker of the team, perera and matic behind him and 'lazy cant move' martial upfront and you said he would never get top4 but he came 3rd, you said it was lucky, then he came 2nd, now your claiming its not fifa

I guess it was his tactical ineptness that made him bring on Matic and Lingard against WH who won the game for us.

In your first sentence, you make it seem like Ole was so unfortunate to have Lingard and Matic, but in your second sentence you big them up. Total contradiction.

And it’s funny how you conveniently forgot that we had Bruno, Pogba, Greenwood in all of these seasons that we finished second and third.

Tuchel inherited a a squad that spent a record breaking £250m the summer before, he had a CL squad ready.

It doesn’t matter whatever squad Tuchel inherited. The reality is that a lot of the Chelsea players were struggling under Lampard. TT turned around their careers. You make it seem like Ole inherited a poor squad. He inherited an expensive squad. Even Fred is £50 million.

Winning or losing a single match doesn't determine anything, even klopp lost the final to seville and pep lost with his £900m squad in the CL final

It’s not about losing. We lost plenty of matches under Sir Alex. But there is a way to lose. Liverpool didn’t win anything for 4 years under Kloop,, but the difference in the way they played under Kloop and the way they played under Rodgers was clear from the start of Klopp’s reign. Under Ole, we are still a counter attacking team. We struggle against any team that sits back and allows us to have the possession.

Ole has done more then any manager in making players world beaters, he turned around Shaws career, he bought maguire back to his best, he made rashford and greenward stars, he squeesed as much as he could out of mcfred, when mourihno who bought fred here didnt have a clue how to use him. He has got more out of players then well experienced managers like LVG and Mourinho could get.
his player coaching is second to none and anyone who doesnt think so,doesnt know anything about football.

Rashford was a young player so it was natural that he would keep on improving as he gets older, regardless of the manager. And if only Ole can improve Rashford’s football intelligence. Greenwood is a great talent, who will only get better. Shaw had one great season, so pipe down. As for Maguire, he has been good for us without outstanding. Only United and Ole would pay £80million for Maguire.

Ole’s player coaching is second to none, indeed. He is a great man manger. He is great at putting his arm around the player’s shoulders and be their mate. But does that make hiM a great tactician? No. I have said this before. If Ole is to succeed at United, he needs to hire a better coaching stuff.

Again your wrong, Before this summers sigings ole has spent £280m, less than mourinho and about the same as LVG, even with this summers signings its not 500M, but its unrealistic to count those signings just yet.

Therefore you should pinch your nose and swallow the harsh truth now, ole has outperformed your favourite mourinho and LVG with less money spent.
Did he really outperform Mourinho? Jose in his time at United won two trophies. Granted they weren’t the biggest trophies, but he still won something unlike your fave Ole. In the league, Jose finished 2nd with 81 points. Ole finished 2nd with 74 points. Jose also got through to the knockout stages of CL in 17/18 & 18/19 seasons. Ole took us back to the Europa League where we lost in the final. On which planet did Ole outperform Jose?

Even LVG won a trophy.

Its your chest that ruined MU in the last decade then, because it was due to you people we sacked lvg after winning a FA cup because you garenteed us the EPL and the CL if we got jose, now a rookie is outperforming him in every department and now you cant take it.

You confused me with other United fans. I never wanted LVG sacked. I was sad and angry when he got the sack. I liked LVG and thought he had a good possession based style of play. We just lacked that cutting edge in the final third. But if we had a creative midfielder like Pogba or Bruno under LVG, we would have done well.

It was Roberto Carlos who actually believed that, not me :)))

Its not about being at the club for 7 years, if you had been following us you would know he had a terrible time with a broken leg and being bullied by your favourite jose,

Yes, he had a horrific injury, but plenty of players have had horrific injuries and they come back strongly. That shouldn’t be an excuse for being rubbish for years. Jose never bullied him. Shaw was just fat and unfit and Mourinho called him out. I don’t have a problem with that.

Btw, do you still belive brandon williams is better than him :)))

Lol, Williams was in the team ahead of Shaw at that time, when I made that statement. Does that mean he is better than Shaw overall? No, but at that time he was. But I do think that Williams is pretty crap.

Thats what you call great coaching, taking players who are rubbish and getting what you can out of them when you have no one else.

when we finished second bruno played half a season and pogba was play acting being injured all season, greenward didnt break through till the last few games either, you have a weak agenda against ole, because you dont want to admit you were wrong.

It doesn’t matter whatever squad Tuchel inherited. The reality is that a lot of the Chelsea players were struggling under Lampard. TT turned around their careers. You make it seem like Ole inherited a poor squad. He inherited an expensive squad. Even Fred is £50 million.
Ask your favoirte mourinho and the board why they paid £50m for Fred, Ole has nothing to do with it other then use what hes got and hes done it brilliantly as much as he could, which world class managers like mourinho could not.

chelsea players struggled under lampard because they fell out with him and didnt want to play under him, he was just a poor manager and a terrible man manager. Also another you highly praised. lol

Ole inherited a toxic squad, that didnt want to play anymore for us, the damage done by mourinho could have taken years but ole did a tremendous job in breathing fresh air into the enviroment, even with a poor squad, it just wasnt the enviroment and player attitudes, there fitness was terrible too

There is a way to lose? lol never heard such a thing in my life) maybe you didnt notice, tuchel is also a counter attacking, park the bus manager, its only results have gone his way because teams havnt figured him out yet so hes being hyped up.

ole plays different to other managers in that he plays and adjusts to the weakness of other teams.

so what if its counter attack football (which it isnt anymore)
SAF himself was a counter attacking manager.

But the thing was rashford wasnt improving under jose, if jose stayed, he would have destoryed him and turned him into a welbeck.

Shaw is going to be great LB, its not about his one season, he was great in the euros too, he had it in him but just needed a manager to bring it out of him.

Maguire was an english leader, he was going to cost a premium. but now hes proving to be reliable.

Ole’s player coaching is second to none, indeed. He is a great man manger. He is great at putting his arm around the player’s shoulders and be their mate. But does that make hiM a great tactician? No. I have said this before. If Ole is to succeed at United, he needs to hire a better coaching stuff.

Was SAF ever a great tactician?
His genius was player managment and ole comes from the same school.

I agree he needs better coaching staff, but you cant get rid of everyone in one go and hire new people, it will disrupt everything, it needs to be done one by one.

During that second finish for jose, DDG single handily earned us 20 points, everyone knows how terrible we actully were, there was no one competing with city, chelsea and LP were rubbish too, mu had a free ride

We didnt through to CL last season but we probably had the most difficult group ever with finalist and semi finalist.

Ole finished 2nd but the direction is there, the team is motivated to push on, when jose came second, no one expected MU to come top4 the season after, thats how toxic the enviroment became that summer.

That was up to LVG who was given the funds but went after rubbish over hyped players.

Yes, he had a horrific injury, but plenty of players have had horrific injuries and they come back strongly. That shouldn’t be an excuse for being rubbish for years. Jose never bullied him. Shaw was just fat and unfit and Mourinho called him out. I don’t have a problem with that.

Lol, Williams was in the team ahead of Shaw at that time, when I made that statement. Does that mean he is better than Shaw overall? No, but at that time he was. But I do think that Williams is pretty crap.

Ofcourse jose bullied him, he didnt want him because shaw rejected him when he was at chelsea.
Shaw being unfit is a myth, hes still the same and its his body shape that makes him look that way. His issue was a confidence issue that mourinho destroyed inside him

Williams wasnt ahead of him, he covered him when he was injured and was never better, not even close ROLF

I'd say it's going okay so far :)

If there is one player you would bet your life on to win you a football match in the last seconds, it has to be Cristiano Ronaldo before anyone else in history.

It's truly unbelievable and the fact that he has been able to amaze us with hundreds of clutch moments like tonight throughout his 20 years old career is ridiculous.

shameful refereeing otherwise he would have got a hatrick today but I expect he will score many more goals when Cavani comes back, he needs a ram like cavani to open up spaces inside the box. Right now he is operating all alone in the box, when he gets a partner he will be devastating.

Right now all attackers Ronaldo, Sancho, Pogba drop off into the same left half spaces, i will like to see Ronaldo on the left, sancho right and cavani center next week, When ronaldo moves into the box, shaw could provide the width.

Ole showed his brilliance today by bringing on matic and lingard who turned the game around and he is going to take ronaldo to a complete different level when he gets the balance right and cavani and rashford return.

exactly as i predicted, credit to Fred and Lingard but cavani and ronaldo partnership is mouthwatering, even in there 30s.

He is making a huge positive difference. It’s actually quite incredible that United escaped with a win from last night’s game after a pretty ordinary performance. Without Ronaldo’s key moment pedigree (and, to be fair, De Gea’s brilliance) then Villarreal could have won that match 4 or 5 nil.

Gary Neville says Cristiano Ronaldo's actions at Old Trafford serve only to increase pressure on Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ronaldo was captured marching alone down the tunnel, seemingly muttering in frustration, after United were held to a 1-1 against Everton, for whom Andros Townsend scored - and then mimicked the Portuguese's trademark goal celebration.

Solskjaer defended his team selection having started Ronaldo on the bench but with his side now heading into an international break, the decision came under the spotlight and Ronaldo's demeanour only invited further scrutiny.

Former Manchester United captain Neville reflected on Ronaldo's body language in his latest podcast, and gave Solskajer some advice on managing Old Trafford's returning hero...

I watched the game and I watched him walk off. I can't say I liked it.

Is Cristiano upset when he doesn't play? Yes. Is Cristiano upset when he doesn't score? Yes. Is Cristiano annoyed as hell when the team don't win? Of course.

He walks off the pitch, muttering to himself, which throws questions up in the air. What is he saying? Who is he annoyed with? It can only come back to the manager.

Cristiano is smart enough to know actions like that will bring real pressure on the manager - more than he is already under.

It is what it is, but I think that is something that has to be managed in the next couple of months.

Cristiano is not always going to score and he maybe can't play every game. But if he's going to walk off like that, it's going to put immense pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer."

Ole has restored values… but needs trophies

The worst that could happen for me with Ole is that he's been an incredible bridge, from a period where the club lost its identity and it lost its way.

There is no doubt the club lost its way in reaction to Sir Alex Ferguson's leaving the club. Ole has returned some of the values to the club.

There's a group of players who I think do want to play for the club. The signings have been a lot more Manchester United-like.

But I do now think with the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, recognised world-class talents, comes a pressure to deliver.

Ole knows that. He said it in his press conference. He does have to win. You have to win a trophy when you're three or four years in and you've got players like that.

He has to look after himself, Ole, he has to be selfish, he's got to make sure that he manages Cristiano in the right way.

I think he'll have a word with him and say, 'Look, if we're going to do that, let's do it in the changing room'.

But Cristiano is not a sheep either. He's not just going to follow and say, 'I'm not going to say anything'. He will demonstrate his dislikes and his lack of happiness with situations.

With today's stunning goal and assist in the 3-0 win over Spurs, that takes Ronaldo to 7 goals and 1 assist in 11 games for United in all competitions. Machine.

There still seem to be some voices out there trying to argue that Ronaldo has made United a worse team.

From what I can see, without his contributions this season they would be around 14th in the league and going out of the CL.

They wouldve been top of the league without him, but thats only because they have a system that is suited to the press which doesnt work with Ronaldo in it, it just completly collapses the whole team.
Its not his fault, but to get the best out of Ronaldo you have to build the team around him, right now its built around bruno and is not working. Oles been stubborn to change it thats has bought his job in question, but if he didnt want to change it he shouldnt have taken ronaldo.

Manchester United do not have plans to offer Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, a coaching role at the club following reports he was keen to take up such a role when he retires. (Star)

4 goals in 6 starts I believe for him so far in the PL. I think on a personal note his goal return won't be any less than 20-25 goals minimum, he's still at the level to consistently achieve that ball park.

I still think that United was a backwards move for his level, that club has been mediocre at winning anything of note for almost his entire Madrid/Juve career, and the fact that they are willing to stick with one of the worst managers I've ever seen (interms of someone managing a top club for this long) in Ole, is laughable to me.

The truth is, not a single rival fan cares about United as long as they have the clown combo of Ole + the Glazers, they are a finished club until they sort that fiasco out. No amount of Sanchos, Varanes, Pogbas, Ronaldos and Brunos can make them a threat with those idiots at the helm.

Ronaldo is keeping the fraud Ole in the job. Had he not scored the last minute winner/equaliser in 3 consecutive champion league games, Ole would have been sacked already. It is such a shame when you have great players but a rubbish manager. You much rather have a great manager but average players. In that way, the team is more effective and efficient.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and striker Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo has scored eight goals in 16 appearances against teams managed by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rejected the idea that Cristiano Ronaldo's signing has had a negative impact on his side.

Ronaldo, 36, returned to United in the summer when he joined from Juventus and has nine goals in 14 games this season.

"He's one of the best players that has ever walked on this planet," said Solskjaer.

"His impact so far has been absolutely immense. He scores goals, he works for his team. He's a top professional."

He added: "How people can say that's a negative, I can't see that one.

"We're really pleased he has started as well as he has."

Ronaldo scored United's opener in a 3-0 Premier League win at Tottenham last Sunday as the Old Trafford side bounced back from a 5-0 home thrashing by Liverpool.

The Portugal captain also scored two equalisers - the second in injury time at the end - in Tuesday's dramatic 2-2 Champions League group draw at Italian side Atalanta.

United host neighbours Manchester City on Saturday (1230 GMT) as they bid to put the "dark moment" of the Liverpool defeat behind them.

"We've moved on from that [Liverpool] one," added Solskjaer.

"Of course it's going to be in the history books, but we've had a good week.

"We've had good results away from home, difficult games, and the mindset is positive.

"We've got to go into this [Manchester City] game believing we can do good things. It's a local derby and everyone knows what's at stake."

United's win over Spurs was their first in five league games and they beat City 2-0 when the rivals last met in the Premier League in March at the Etihad.

Solskjaer has won four of his eight meetings against City boss Pep Guardiola in all competitions, which is the best rate of any manager to face the Spaniard at least five times.

"I'm not one to talk about what I've done. I've got great respect and admiration for what Pep has done," said the Norwegian.

"It's a special one and we've had a few good results against them. Let's hope that continues, but we don't take it for granted. We have to earn it.

"We've had some good games, tight games, and we need another performance."

City have not beaten United in the league in the last four meetings, with their last top-flight win against Solskjaer's side coming in April 2019.

"Congratulations to United for winning these duels against us, or some of them," said Guardiola, whose side were beaten by Crystal Palace in their most recent league outing.

"They have a lot of physicality, a lot of talent and people up front with the ability to win games by themselves.

"It's Manchester United - what should I say? Since the last century they have always been a good team, with the quality. But it is a new season, new games."

City were linked with a move for Ronaldo in the summer before he joined United and Guardiola added: "Normally I don't talk about players for other clubs.

"I am pretty sure Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Manchester United and United are happy to have him. That's all."

Cristiano Ronaldo disputes Ballon d'Or organiser's claim about outdoing Lionel Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo has accused the France Football editor of lying after he said the Portuguese's only ambition was to retire with more Ballons d'Or than Lionel Messi.

Ballon d'Or organiser Pascal Ferre made the claim to the New York Times.

Paris St-Germain's Messi won his seventh Ballon d'Or on Monday, with five-time winner Ronaldo voted sixth.

"I always win for myself and for the clubs I represent," said Manchester United forward Ronaldo.

"I win for myself and for those who love me. I don't win against someone."

On Friday, Ferre told the New York Times: "Ronaldo has only one ambition, and that is to retire with more Ballons d'Or than Messi - and I know that because he has told me."

Ronaldo responded on social media, saying: "Pascal Ferre lied, he used my name to promote himself and to promote the publication he works for.

"It is unacceptable that the person responsible for awarding such a prestigious prize could lie in this way, in absolute disrespect for someone who has always respected France Football and the Ballon d'Or.

"The biggest ambition of my career is to win national and international titles for the clubs I represent and for the national team in my country.

"The biggest ambition of my career is to leave my name written in golden letters in the history of world football."

The Ballon d'Or - awarded to the best footballer of the year - is voted on by 180 journalists worldwide and presented by France Football.

Messi had already won the trophy more times than any other player and his seventh success comes after wins in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2019.

Ronaldo, who last won the award in 2017, finished outside the top five for the first time since 2010.

Either Messi or Ronaldo has collected the award every year from 2008 to 2019, apart from in 2018 when Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric won.

Likely will turn the corner under a new manager.

Reports of dressing room problem emerges

United youngster Mason Greenwood is said to be becoming increasingly frustrated with Cristiano Ronaldo's influence at the club.

Ronaldo's arrival at Old Trafford last summer has led to Greenwood spending an increased amount of time on the bench, with El Nacional reporting he is "upset" with the fact Ronaldo is always the first name on the teamsheet while he is only getting limited game time.

And it's not the first time that there's been alleged friction between the two Manchester United teammates.

Indian Cristiano Ronaldo statue condemned as ‘sacrilegious’

Indian citizens have been critical of a statue erected of Cristiano Ronaldo in Goa, some 60 years after its liberation from Portugal

A statue of Cristiano Ronaldo erected in Goa has led to a spate of complaints amongst locals who claim that it is 'insulting' to those who suffered during Portugal's prior colonization of the Indian state.

The statue of Ronaldo, whose status as a global icon of football extends into Goa where both he and the sport are tremendously popular, was intended to "inspire" youngsters in the region, per officials.

Instead, the gesture has been cited by some locals as having re-opened old wounds of the Portuguese colonial empire – during celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of its liberation.

Incredibly, the statue, whose unveiling was delayed by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, is said to have cost 12 lakhs to build – a sum which translates to more than $16,000 – and weighs over 900lbs.

Critics of the golden statue say that it should have instead celebrated Indian athletes, particularly given that several members of country's national team are Goan.

However, Portugal's national team – and particularly Ronaldo – remain central to Goan life, at least in a sporting context, with many people in the state have Portuguese relatives due to the area's past.

But many say that the timing of the statue was ill-advised, given that it arrived during celebrations marking Goa's severing of ties with Portugal – something which came 14 years after India as a whole was liberated from British rule.

The unveiling of the Ronaldo tribute was marked by locals waving black flags in protest, according to reports by the Times of India.

"Very disappointed to hear of the statue of Ronaldo being erected. Learn to take pride in our own icons like Samir Naik and Bruno Coutinho," a Goan resident said, via the IANS news agency.

"To erect a statue of a Portuguese footballer this year is sacrilegious. We condemn this," another said. "There are many freedom fighters in Goa who have been insulted."

However, Michael Lobo, who is a local politician in Goa, dismissed the criticism in a tweet he posted which features a picture of him standing alongside the statue.

"For the love of football and at the request of our youth we put up Cristiano Ronaldo's statue in the park to inspire our youngsters to take football to greater heights," he wrote. "It was an honor to inaugurate the beautification of open space, landscaping, garden with foundation & walkway."

Ronaldo, 36, has not yet commented publicly on the issue.

This isn't the first time that a statue bearing the Portuguese star's image has been poorly received.

In 2017, a bust of Ronaldo which was unveiled at the Madeira Airport in Portugal (later renamed the Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport) was widely mocked for its lack of resemblance to the footballer, and was eventually replaced.

Another statue of the Manchester United star, this one in Funchal, Portugal, has reportedly been required to be maintained on several occasions after a host of Ronaldo's more tactile fans caused the groin-area of the statue to be excessively buffed while posing for photographs with it.

Surely Barca would not be able to afford Ronaldo’s wage demands.

Bit of a strange situation developing at Barca, Ousmane Dembele new contract talks have fallen through because barca are claiming they cannot afford his increased wage demands, however his agent has pointed out on the flipside they have just paid £55m for Ferran Torres and have made offers for others. could be one headed to the premier league

It is odd — what I would say is that often the transfer fee is like the layman going shopping for furniture or a new car.

You may know this already… the footballer’s fee will be reported high level as £x, but in reality within the written contract there can be an initial downpayment and some of the amount is agreed by both clubs to be delayed; alternatively it can be paid through instalments; and/or it will only be paid in full if certain conditions of performance, appearances, etc are met. So Barca could have done something like this with Torres if they indeed are, as we have heard, a bit short of cash at the moment.

Whereas for Ronaldo not only would Man Utd demand a large transfer fee, certainly more than they paid for him, but Ronaldo personally (on £480k per week) would be negotiating hard for >€650k per week from Barca imo, which is a huge ongoing expense. Allegedly why they let Messi go also, because he was asking for up to €2 million per week to stay, which adds up to a pretty eye watering gross annual figure to say the least…

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick: Cristiano Ronaldo sub reaction not taken personally

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick says he did not take Cristiano Ronaldo's irritated reaction to his substitution against Brentford personally.

The forward was hauled off in the 71st minute during the 3-1 Premier League victory on Wednesday along with Mason Greenwood. Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford both came on as United look to see out their victory.

After the game, Rangnick revealed he had taken Ronaldo off to try and secure maximum points, having been punished by Aston Villa a few days earlier in a late 2-2 draw.

Ronaldo has a neck injury and is a doubt for Saturday's match against West Ham, according to Rangnick.

The fixture could be vital for their Champions League hopes, but there were still lingering questions over Ronaldo's reaction in Rangnick's pre-match press conference.

When asked if he saw the situation as a challenge to his authority, Rangnick said: "I didn't at all see or interpret that as if he was challenging me, he just showed too emotionally that he wasn't happy to be replaced.

"This was not the first time. If you have a look at the moment when Sir Alex replaced him or other coaches replaced him in the past, it was actually pretty similar. It shows that in the end, it has nothing to do with the manager at the time, it's about his own ambition and desire to stay on the pitch.

"But it's a team sport and for us, it's important to make sure we get the most out of each game, the maximum points. Then it's a decision of each manager of what do we need right now to secure the game, to make sure we win it and what kind of weapons do we need on the pitch to score on the counter-attack.

"I'm not somebody who says afterwards that everything was perfect, but in this case, everything I hoped would result for that decision, they were confirmed in the end.

"If at one stage, Cristiano will also be maybe a manager himself in a couple of years, then he will have the same experience himself.

"I don't blame him for that, but any manager would wish it shouldn't be too emotional, more so in front of the TV cameras. I don't think this will be to the benefit of anyone - not to his benefit, the benefit of his team-mates or the others - but in the end, it's an emotional game. Players are being emotional, but I didn't take it personally at all in that moment.

"He would have loved to stay on the pitch and play on, I can understand that because he thought he would have been able to score one or two goals. But with the very disappointed experience we had at Villa Park, to me it was logically that we had to do it in a different way this time."

Cristiano Ronaldo told he owes Anthony Elanga "big apology" after "childish" behaviour

Cristiano Ronaldo should apologise to Anthony Elanga for his substitution outburst at Brentford on Wednesday night.

Those are the thoughts of Paul Merson, who has taken aim at the Manchester United star.

The Red Devils secured a 3-1 win in west London earlier this week with Elanga opening the scoring at the Brentford Community Stadium.

At 2-0 Ralf Rangnick rang the changes, hauling off Ronaldo with 20 minutes to go.

The Portuguese star was less than impressed and made his feelings clear before questioning the decision whilst sat on the bench.

His antics deflected away from United's performance and the display of their young winger, who excellently found the back of the net.

Merson believes the No 7, who he claimed was now a "shadow" of his former self, should make amends for his actions.

"Cristiano owes Anthony Elanga a big apology," Merson wrote in the Daily Star.

"What he did against Brentford spoiled the youngster’s big day – and it was so childish.

"The poor kid. He starts his first Premier League game of the season, scores for Manchester United.

"And then Ronaldo gets substituted, strops off and has a hissy fit. As soon as it happened as I said to my mate: ‘You watch, you won’t even know the kid has scored now.’

"It was unbelievable for someone who’s been around the game that long to do that and take the headlines away from Elanga.

"It’s not happening for him. I went to the game with my boy, to show him Ronaldo. One of the greatest players of all time.

"He’s a shadow of that player. An absolute shadow."

Rangnick took time to explain his decision to the 36-year-old forward.

The German stopped short of blaming his player for his the reaction, understanding his desire to score goals but felt his antics were not in the best interest of the team.

“I don’t blame him for that but obviously any manager would wish it shouldn’t be too emotional and also in front of the TV cameras I don’t think this will be for the benefit of anyone: not to his benefit or teammates,” he said.

“It’s an emotional game and players are emotional and I didn’t take it personally at all.

“I didn’t at all see or interpret that he was challenging me.

"This was not the first time – if you have a look at the moment when Sir Alex [Ferguson] replaced him or other coaches, his reaction was pretty similar, which shows in the end it has got nothing to do with the manager. It’s about his own ambition and desire to stay on the pitch."

Sticky spell for CR7 at the moment.

Substitute today and didn't do much when he came on.

How many goals does he have so far in the PL?

Many felt he would easily score 15 and beyond.

It’s not easy playing top flight footy in England.

:)))

This is why PL fans are known for being delusional.

Ronaldo, along with Messi, is the GOAT. He is still miles above any attacker in the PL in spite of 36 years old.

He will easily score 25-30 league goals if he doesn’t get injured.

15 goals lol.

Still confident Mamoon? :)))

I predicted 15-20 max, some posters or ******* were upset by this. :))

If he gets 15 now, Utd will be liley be in or close to the top 4.

15 games left in the season, 17 more to get :)

Foreign fresh pots don’t have a clue about elite football, the EPL is absolutely brutal and it’s testing a specimen like Ronaldo and at times making him look his age which was unthinkable 6 months ago. Having said that, he is doing well to a degree in his situation but but those who felt it would be a walk in a park are ignorant.

Honestly! He is a striker playing with a non-existent midfield. Even the amount of goals he has is an achievement.

Still confident Mamoon? :)))

Messi has scored all but TWO goals in the Farmer’s L1 league.

Proving Messi is not a goat, far from it, he was successful at Barcelona because the team was built around him, now he has been exposed. 25 goals prediction in L1. LOL!

CR7 is the Goat - he is successful in every league he plays, and pf course even at his age now, 9 goals is still over 4 times compared with Messi eho is playing in an inferior league to EPL.

Honestly, the born of today.

Ofcourse its brutal but its hardly testing him given the situation, his players dont want to play with him, he is playing with a divided dressing room and the morale hasnt been this low at OT since mourinhos last days,
he is to blame for the cracks in the team but thats another discussion, do you think some of the top young strikers would have been any different in this situation? they probably wouldnt have half of what he has. IF the team was actually united togeher, he would easily have 20 goals by now, hes lost an edge but for me hes still the best striker in the world.

Whether he stays at Man Utd or not depends on who they bring in as the manager, as it's clear that the current manager doesn't rate Ronaldo enough to start him in every match.

Bit of a brutal drop off for CR7, I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up form but it's true that going back to the PL at his age was always a difficult task, yet I would've still expected him to do more than this.

Looks like he will be gone at the end of the season unless a manager comes in who meets his approval.

Not quite gone the way United fans and Ronaldo had hoped for, but United are a mess at the moment in terms of the quality of many of its players.

Ronaldo has returned to the United squad at the worst possible time. The amount of unrest off the field and inside the dressing room could end up driving him out before he’s even had chance to settle back in.

Cristiano Ronaldo available for Man Utd against Tottenham | Ralf Rangnick: I don't know if he's happy

Cristiano Ronaldo is available for Manchester United's crucial Premier League clash with Tottenham on Saturday, live on Sky Sports, but Ralf Rangnick admits he does not know if the forward is happy at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo missed last weekend's chastening 4-1 derby loss to Manchester City due to injury but is set to return for the visit of top-four rivals Spurs.

"He resumed training yesterday. He trained the whole training session and I expect him to be in training today as well," United interim manager Rangnick said.

"He trained well so I would've thought he's available for tomorrow."

Last weekend, Rangnick said Ronaldo missed Sunday's Manchester derby due to a hip injury, but former United captain and Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane thought something about his absence "didn't add up".

It was just the second Premier League game Ronaldo, who has scored just one goal in his last 10 appearances, has missed since rejoining United this season.

The 37-year-old's absence also appeared to be questioned by his sister, Katia Aveiro, after she liked an Instagram post claiming he was not injured but instead dropped by Rangnick.

Amid fresh reports this week about Ronaldo's happiness, Rangnick said: "Well, I don't know, I haven't asked him if he's happy at Manchester and at this club.

"For me, it's important that he's fit again and that he resumed training yesterday.

"We will see with which formation and with which line-up we are going to play the game tomorrow."

Asked to clarify whether he and the club were aware of Ronaldo reportedly going to Portugal last weekend instead of watching his team-mates at the Etihad, Rangnick said: "No, because it doesn't make sense to look back on what was happening in the last six or seven days.

"For me, it's important what is happening today and tomorrow. For me, it doesn't make sense at all to go through all this again."

The greatest player of all time comes up with a hattrick against Tottenham in the most competitive league in Europe, at the age of 37.

This kind of longevity is insane stuff. A level never seen before.

He has been carrying this mediocre United squad alongside De Gea this season, and if they miss out on a UCL spot, these two will be the only players to keep their heads high.

Anyways, 12 PL goals now, second only to Mohamed Salah, who is playing at his peak at the moment, and 18 goals in all competitions at this age, will possibly go past the 25 goal mark by the end of the season.

My GOAT.

A brilliant performance tonight, picture perfect.

Three fantastic goals and dominated the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first Manchester United hat-trick in 14 years as Tottenham were defeated in a thrilling encounter at Old Trafford.

The brilliant Portuguese put United ahead twice before heading home the winner from Alex Telles' corner nine minutes from time, the 807th goal of his career.

Tottenham twice responded to Ronaldo's efforts, through a Harry Kane penalty and a Harry Maguire own goal.

But it was Ronaldo who had the final word, completing his first United treble since January 2008, in a 6-0 win over Newcastle.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Man Utd matchwinner says there are 'no limits' for club

Cristiano Ronaldo says there "are no limits" for Manchester United after his hat-trick helped them beat Tottenham Hotspur.

Ronaldo's first United hat-trick since 2008 earned his club a 3-2 win and took his overall career goal tally to 807 - with some claiming that saw him break a world record for goals scored.

"Tremendously happy with my first hat-trick since I came back to Old Trafford!" the Portugal forward wrote on Instagram.

"Nothing beats the feeling of being back on the pitch and helping the team with goals and effort.

"We've proven once again that we can beat any team in any given day, as long as we work hard and stand together as one. There are no limits for Man United! No matter what! Let's go, Devils!"

The performance came a week after Ronaldo missed the Manchester derby amid suggestions he had flown to Portugal, having been told he was dropped.

United boss Ralf Rangnick subsequently rejected the allegation and said the 37-year-old had been ruled out with a hip injury.

However, after what the German described as Ronaldo's best performance "on and off the ball" since he came to the club as interim manager in November, he wondered if it was worth repeating the player's build-up.

"We were just joking that maybe it makes sense to send him to Portugal for three days, then have him not train for two and then have him back, by the way he performed on a similar kind of level on Thursday in training," said Rangnick.

"I decided after that training session to play him today even though he has not trained for a week. Maybe we have to do that for the rest of the season."

Ronaldo's impact at United has been questioned as their season has unravelled.

Yet only Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has scored more than the 37-year-old's 12 Premier League goals and no United player has scored more than half his overall total of 18 in all competitions.

Midfielder Paul Pogba has no doubts about Ronaldo's value to United.

"He has never been a problem," said the France international.

"If you have the best striker in history in our team, it cannot be a problem. Today he showed why he is Cristiano Ronaldo. The performance from him and all the team was very brilliant."

Hes finished now :)))

Lets get real, fred was on fire, pogba and sancho were playing decent balls forward last night and this is what happens to Ronaldo if he is given even a bit of support.

You have to feel for CR7.

If Portugal dont qualify for the World Cup, he may as well retire.

Missing out on both World Cup and Champions league next season will be worrying him right now.

CR7 was better served playing for LFC or Manchester City - both moves would have been blasphemy though lol

There’s a great deal of Romanticism with him returning to United but I don’t know if it will be enough to convince him to stay now, but as fans we got to see a GOAT one last time on these shores in the toughest league in the world, I respect him for taking the risk and going out on his shield

As for retirement and Ronaldo, am sure he would echo the same sentiment as another GOAT in Ric Flair - “I will never retire!!!”

CR7 has nothing to prove. The greatest of all time.

Man Utd's Cristiano Ronaldo apologises for 'outburst' following phone incident after defeat at Everton

Man Utd's Cristiano Ronaldo has apologised for his 'outburst' after appearing to throw a fan's phone to the ground following his side's defeat at Everton.

Footage, taken by @EvertonHub, shows Ronaldo lowering his right hand towards the ground before what appears to be a phone colliding with and bouncing up off the surface, as he exited the pitch following the 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

United are aware of the footage, which is being widely shared and discussed on social media following the game, and the club said on Saturday afternoon they were looking into the incident.

Ronaldo said on Instagram: "It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

"I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship"

It was a bad day on the pitch for Ronaldo and Manchester United as Anthony Gordon's first-half goal gave the hosts three points.

United, who have won just once in five Premier League games, now look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Merseyside Police are investigating an alleged assault after Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to break a fan's phone.

Footage was shared on social media alongside comments claiming he smashed the device as he left the pitch after his side's 1-0 loss at Everton.

Ronaldo, 37, later apologised on social media.

Merseyside Police said they were investigating "reports of an alleged assault" at Goodison Park on Saturday.

A spokesperson said they were liaising with both Manchester United and Everton.

"As players were leaving the pitch at 2.30pm, it was reported that a boy was assaulted by one of the away team as they left the pitch," they added.

"Inquiries are under way and officers are currently working with Everton to review CCTV footage and are carrying out extensive witness enquiries to establish if an offence has taken place.

"Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police contact centre quoting reference number 228 of 9 April 2022."

Manchester United said they were aware of "an alleged incident" and would "co-operate with any police inquiries".

The result damaged United's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League and came against an Everton side who had been one point above the relegation zone before kick-off.

"It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing," said Portugal international Ronaldo.

"Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

"I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship."

BBC

A 14-year-old boy was left with bruising and a smashed phone after being "assaulted" by Cristiano Ronaldo, his mother has told Sky News.
Police and Manchester United are both investigating the incident after the player was seen slapping a young fan's phone to the ground after his side's defeat at Everton.

His mother, Sarah Kelly said a representative for Ronaldo phoned and invited her and her son, Jake Harding, to meet the player at Old Trafford after footage of the incident went viral online.

But Ms Kelly has no interest in accepting the Manchester United star's offer after she says he 'smacked' Jake's phone to the ground.

"I've got nothing to say to [him]," she told Sky News.

"Why should I travel to Old Trafford? Why would 'a Blue' want to go to [visit] 'a Red'?" she added.

Ms Kelly, from Upton, Merseyside, said Jake had been videoing the footballer as headed for the tunnel, seemingly limping with a leg injury.

She said Jake, who is autistic and has a mental age around half his actual age, is still shocked at what happened: "He can't digest things the same way a person with no disability would be able to digest things... Obviously, he's very immature."
Ronaldo later released a statement on Instagram and said: "It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.
"I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship."
But Ms Kelly wasn't impressed with his post.

"If he [Ronaldo] was genuine, I think he should have turned around at the moment of the incident, picked Jake's phone up and been like, 'I'm sorry'," she said.
"That was the biggest laugh for me: 'sportsmanship'. When you can do that to a 14-year-old boy. That's not sportsmanship at all."

Jake is an Everton fan and Saturday's Premier League match was his first trip to Goodison Park with his mum. Ms Kelly says seeing 'big star' Ronaldo was supposed to make the day extra special.

"He'd love to go back to Everton, but he wouldn't want to sit there in the Park End [Stand] where it happened because that has bad memories for him."

Ms Kelly said Everton has been "amazing" and has offered them tickets whenever Jake is ready to return to the stadium.
But after speaking out about Jake's experience, she said she'd been left in tears after receiving online abuse: "I've been called all kinds... mainly from United fans."

The family are now waiting to hear from the police about what will happen next.

"I'm waiting for the police liaison officer to come and see us this week and I'll discuss it further with her and then see where we go from there," she said.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Following an incident at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April, we are working with Everton Football Club and have been in touch with the boy's family. The matter is under investigation and we are gathering information. Our enquiries remain ongoing at this time.

[MENTION=43583]KingKhanWC[/MENTION] He is a freak of nature, the GOAT with a hat-trick, single handedly carrying this horrible United team. He gets to the 15 goal mark and is now in the top 3 leading scorers, it hasn’t been easy at all and United have a sniff at a top 4 finish but it wont be easy

The absolute GOAT.

His second PL hattrick in the space of a month, at the age of 37. No other player in history has been able to match this kind of numbers at this age.

He has made adapting to different clubs look like a child's game. Competing with the likes of prime Salah for the PL Golden Boot.

Simply the best ever.

Well said, this crazy, wont ever ever happen again in our time and I was just glad to see him in the PL for the nostalgia, I didn’t know if he would compete with the very best, simply amazing. The GOAT

His biggest mistake to return back to Old Trafford. If he wins the World Cup for Portugal he will be the GOAT in my books.

Ive never seen Utd fans celebrate a home win against the bottom team of the league with so much joy. :)))

United are a mediocre side who have been carried by Ronaldo and De Gea's brilliance.

The fact that he has been able to go past the 20 goal mark in all competitions with this team at this age is an achievement in itself.

If not for the two players I mentionned above, they don't deserve to finish in the Top 4.

Unless there is a huge imporvment very quickly, highly unlikey to make Champions League.

If they fail, it will be interesting to see if he remains.

If United somehow get into the Champions League through the back door then it will go down as a remarkable carry-on-the-back job from Ronaldo (and De Gea).

Ronaldo is the goat, no doubt.

Apart from having goals served to him on a platter and stat-padding I fail to see what is so good about him anymore. Benzema has had a new leash of life ever since he's left and I think United too, will play more freely if he's not around.

This basically sums up your general knowledge about the game.

Calling a man who currently sits on 800+ career goals nothing more than a stat-padder despite the fact that he quite easily is the greatest big game player we have ever seen is just stupidity.

I suggest you get your correct definition of stat-padding and most importantly ask yourself why has no one ever been able to recreate Ronaldo's numbers and longevity, if his "goals served on a platter" and "stat-padding" are so easy.

I've been watching football for decade so I think I have a decent knowledge of the game. Ronaldo is a great great goalscorer BUT there's a big difference between a GOAT goalscorer and a GOAT footballer. Maybe it's me, perhaps it's nostalgia, I'm usually enthused by players that can take you to places where you can't believe what you are seeing and this Ronaldo has never been that for me.

However, you keep bringing up is goals - I guess that's what it's all about to most and I'll keep bringing up Pele's and Romario's goals that they scored in their back garden :murali

So you will rank someone like Ronaldinho ahead of the likes of Cristiano, just because he was more pleasing to the eye ?

Ronaldo vs Messi is not even a debate. Messi has always been in a league of his own.

It is very simple - Both Ronaldo and Messi are elite among elites when it comes to scoring goals. However, while Ronaldo is a below average creator/playmaker, Messi is arguably the greatest playmaker/passer the game has ever seen.

You take Ronaldo’s goals out and he is not even among the top 100 players of all time but if you take Messi’s goals out, he is still top 5, if not the GOAT.

Messi vs Ronaldo is an artificial rivalry created by the media. They needed a rival for Messi and Ronaldo was the best option because he was matching Messi in terms of goal scoring numbers, but purely in terms of football, Messi has never had and probably never will have a rival.
