“I hope Messi wins this World Cup. He is the best player in history & he deserves it” - Modric

The man who played 7 years with Ronaldo & won 4 UCLs with him knows he is inferior.

Ultimate insult for Ronaldo. Time to delete his number on his phone & complain to Piers Morgan :91:

Messi doubters & Ronaldo fans deserve this humiliation. He was never worthy of lacing his boots.

Spoke too early , football is 90 mins . Pls learn basics of the sport
:)))

Once again, never doubt the GOAT. Messi has embarrassed you numerous times in this World Cup yet you never learn. You thought France was going to win after the 2-2, didn’t you? :)))

Learn to respect the greatest footballer that has ever lived - no player has dominated both goal scoring & playmaking like he has.

Cristiano Ronaldo's biggest achievement was that he was compared with the real GOAT of this generation, Lionel Messi!

It is poetic that Ronaldo put stinkers after stinkers in this tournament and got dropped, while Messi captained his country to the world cup title by putting in a player of the tournament performance. There are levels to this thing and Ronaldo is and was never on Messi's level.

You stan Salah who can't even get his country to a world cup and you have the nerve to take shots at Messi lol

I'm delighted that he's finally shut up the Ronaldo fan boys and the deluded armchair critics from Alum Rock.

Ronaldo got sacked by Man United and is currently unemployed. :)))

While Messi is carrying his team to a world cup title.

Never compare Ronaldo with Messi. He isn't even in the top 5.

Messi is the only player to have won 2 x Golden Balls in the entire history of the World Cup. In addition to this, he's also been player of the tournament in 2 x Copa Americas.

Ronaldo has played 10 x International tournaments but has never been player of the tournament even though he was part of Portugal's Euro 2016 winning campaign.

Anyone who still thinks Ronaldo is better than Messi needs to give their head a wobble.

Messi is the true GOAT because no player in history has dominated goal scoring and playmaking like he has. In addition to his goal scoring it's his passing, vision, IQ, chances created and dribbling that makes him second to none.

Its ok guys , Ronaldo is also an ATG there are very few fairy tale endings like that of Messi.

Even Zidane and Maradona couldn’t get those.

Wait, weren't you the same guy who would adamantly debate Ronaldo is better?

Ronaldo could individually shape games ...Messi relied on others
Aged like milk.

One leads his country to a third championship, the other is giving destructive interviews, ruining team culture and balance wherever he goes and is looking for any decent team who will sign him.

In football the debate is far too biased towards attacking players and unfairly so.

There was a year when Manuel Nueur and Philip Lahm deserved the the title as the best player in the world, but as usual they just handed it out to Messi/Ronaldo.

Yeah. I noticed. This bias exists.

It is generally all about midfielders or strikers. Defenders and goalkeepers are generally not considered.

The way their careers have ended, or are about to end, in contrasting ways has been extremely satisfying to witness & also befitting based on their personalities.

Ronaldo spent all his career calling himself the best even though he never was. It was his & his fans’ delusion. The same fans who have been humbled now.

His face will turn grey every time Messi won the Ballon d’Or. He would rarely be happy for his teammates & was one of the selfish players you could think of.

On the other hand, Messi never ever called himself the best even though no player was more worthy of the title. He would always be smiling & clapping when Ronaldo would win the Ballon d’Or, he would always be happy for his teammates & would always pass the ball rather than score himself if his teammates were in a better position.

In spite of racking up so many more assists than Ronaldo, he still managed to outscore him.

Ronaldo is ended his career by getting rejected by almost every UCL club in Europe & then having his contract terminated after completely insulting his manager & teammates publicly while Messi would probably part ways with PSG with respect & dignity & retire on his own terms.

Not to mention, Messi won the World Cup with Argentina while still being their best player & talisman while Ronaldo got reduced to the bench in his final World Cup & his coach making it clear to him that he is no longer part of Portugal’s best XI.

This is a lesson for every future player. Keep your head down, be humble & always respect others. You don’t need to call yourself the best. If you do the talking on the pitch, the world will take note of it & crown you. Jealously will not take you anywhere.

Ronaldo spent his entire career being insecure & jealous of Messi while Messi saw him as just another peer.

I truly believe Messi winning the World Cup in his final attempt was a gift from God & a reward for how he has carried himself. The greatest player of all time not winning the World Cup would have been one of greatest tragedies in history of football.

Very few kids dream of being the next Nueur, next Alison, next Van Dyk, etc. Kids watching football dream of being the next Messi, next Ronaldo, next Modric. That is why generally speaking, the bias is strong in the favour of attackers and midfielders.

Messi definitely edged him out in terms of achievement still both are top top players, Messi got a second chance at the biggest game in football and he bossed it that final penalty, that schooling of Gvardiol, infact if not fir Ronaldo's teammate Higuain Messi had 2xWC :)))

Messi is was born in India :60::60::60::60::60:

"He Was Born In Assam": Congress MP's Shocker On Messi After World Cup Win

A Congress MP from Assam first congratulated Argentine football star Lionel Messi after the FIFA World Cup win against France yesterday and then praised the 35-year-old footballer for his "Assam connection".

"Congratulations from the core of heart. We are proud of you for your Assam connection," Congress MP Abdul Khaleque tweeted.

A Twitter user, Aditya Sharma, puzzled by the MP's claim, questioned him. "Assam connection?" Mr Sharma tweeted.

After getting fact-checked by more Twitter users, the MP deleted the tweet. Mr Khaleque asked people to check his social media handles and not to spread rumours.

"Before spreading rumour, I request all to check timeline of my Twitter handle and official Facebook page," he tweeted.

However, many had taken screenshots of the tweet by then.

The original tweet by the Congress MP to which a puzzled Mr Sharma had asked the question about Lionel Messi's "Assam connection" was "deleted by the tweet author", says a message that appears instead of the tweet now.

This morning, Lionel Messi and his teammates set off for Argentina with the most coveted prize in football as millions of compatriots waited to welcome them home and catch a glimpse of the World Cup trophy.

In the capital Buenos Aires and throughout the country, millions took to the streets to celebrate Sunday's remarkable penalty shoot-out victory over France in the World Cup final in Qatar.

Lionel Messi finally crowned his record-breaking career with the one trophy that was missing as he produced a performance that will go down in World Cup history, scoring a first-half penalty and netting again in extra time.

For me there was never really a debate, Messi was always the goat but what happened yesterday just absolutely kills the debate now

It was often said Ronaldo's greatest achievement is being compared to Messi and I think history will show that to be the case

I don't post that often nowadays and those that may remember I spent a lot of time (arguably too much) having debates about this, not that it needed this moment but when he lifted the World Cup yesterday it was vindication

The only crumb the Ronaldo fans had was that Messi can only do it in his comfort zone of Barcelona, he challenged that notion by winning Copa America last year and he destroyed that notion yesterday

Messi is the goat and the beauty of it is that the Ronaldo fans have mostly been silenced

Sadly, that doesn't appear to be the case. Shameless Ronaldo fans have jumped on the Maradonna bandwagon. You honestly can't make this up. :)))

There's still a tiny majority like you say that are in denial, either foolishly claiming the World Cup was fixed or now championing Maradona

Ronaldo has always arrogantly claimed that he is the best. I don't think he would be too pleased to see his fans call Maradonna the GOAT. :)))

I've seen a good chunk of them jump on the Mbappe bandwagon to champion him as the next GOAT and given up on Ronaldo.

Man these guys are unreal haters.

What a game in the ME. Outstanding performance from Ronaldo against a menacing PSG with huge names, was real class in the game, the guy needs shrewd management, he still has it but I think it is better for world football that he is helping the game in Asia. I expected PSG to rip the Riyadh XI apart but it was a competitive affair.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not participate in Al Nassr’s friendly against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami on Thursday.

The exhibition match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — where Ronaldo was anticipated to share the pitch with fellow multiple Ballon d’Or winner and longtime rival Messi — will no longer feature the Portugal international as he continues his recovery from injury.

Al Nassr head coach Luis Castro confirmed the 38-year-old’s absence in a press conference on Wednesday, adding: “Ronaldo is in the final part of his recovery to join the group. We hope that in the next few days, he can start working with the team.”

Ronaldo and Messi have faced each other on 36 previous occasions in their illustrious careers, most notably when they played for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'faces Saudi investigation' after the 39-year-old made an X-rated gesture at fans who chanted 'Messi' at him following Al-Nassr's clash with Al-Shabab

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to face an investigation after appearing to make an obscene gesture following a Saudi Pro League match.

On Sunday the 39-year-old's Al-Nassr took on an Al-Shabab side that includes the likes of former Atletico Madrid midfielder Yannick Carrasco and ex-Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic.

Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 21 minutes, but his side were pegged back before the break following a spot kick from Carrasco on the brink of half-time.

However, the Portugal international appeared to be irked by fans in the crowd chanting the name of his former El Classico rival Lionel Messi.

In response, Ronaldo put his hand to his ear before making a gesture towards his crotch with the signal seemingly aimed at the supporters in attendance.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Statement on 'Anti-Messi' Gesture

Cristiano Ronaldo has been summoned to testify before the Discipline and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation. This action follows a gesture he made during the Al Nassr vs. Al Shabab match, allegedly in response to chants in favor of Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo Investigated for "Anti-Messi" Gesture

Arriyadhiah, an Arab media outlet, has disclosed Ronaldo's statement before the committee. In his defense, "CR7" reportedly explained that such gestures are common in European football and that his arm movement symbolizes strength and victory, not anything obscene.

Ronaldo expressed respect for all clubs and players. The committee will now decide on potential actions against the Portuguese star. If found guilty, he could face a two-match suspension. Despite the ongoing investigation, Ronaldo has been included in the squad for Al Nassr's upcoming match against Al Hazem.

During a press conference, Ronaldo made the following noteworthy remarks regarding their rivalry, according to Goal:

"If you like Cristiano, you don't have to hate Messi. The two changed the history of football and are respected. Rivalry? I don't see those things like that, we shared the stage for 15 years. I'm not saying we are friends but we respect each other."

By scoring a brace in the 1,056th game of his career, Messi broke the record for the fewest number of games taken to scored 830 career goals.

Ronaldo held the previous record, although it took the Al-Nassr forward 100 games more to reach the same milestone.

However, the Portuguese superstar still leads the way when it comes to total goals scored.

Ronaldo has scored 885 goals during a career spent playing for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al-Nassr and Portugal.

Sports Bible

Both are two of the greatest goal scorers ever but Messi without goals is still probably the GOAT playmaker while Ronaldo without goals won’t even be in the top 50 of all time.

This is why Messi is the GOAT and Ronaldo is nowhere near him and never was. This was never a competition.

Both are once in a generation talents. I am not sure if I will see another Ronaldo or another Messi in my lifetime. It was a pleasure to watch these two play.

Regarding who is better, I think that question was answered when Messi won the World Cup.

Lionel Messi named greatest footballer in history over Cristiano Ronaldo

The recently released list put Messi at the top, followed by legends Pele and Diego Maradona above Ronaldo. Johan Cruyff rounds out the top five.

The next five positions are held by Ronaldo Nazario, Zinedine Zidane, Franz Beckenbauer, Alfredo Di Stefano and Ronaldinho.

Among the players listed, seven have won the World Cup: Messi, Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo Nazario, Zidane, Beckenbauer and Ronaldinho.

Eight have also won the Ballon d’Or, with the exceptions of Pele and Maradona. This is largely due to historical restrictions, as the Ballon d’Or was originally limited to European players until the rules changed in 1995, paving the way for South Ảmerican players like Ronaldo Nazario, Ronaldinho and Messi.

Messi currently holds an unprecedented record of 46 collective titles, eight Ballon d’Or and six European Golden Shoes. At 37, he is the only player to have won all major football honors, including the World Cup, Champions League, Ballon d’Or, European Golden Shoe, World Cup Player of the Tournament and the Laureus Award for World Sportsman of the Year.
