What's new

Deepak Chahar - Performance Watch

Took 40 wickets at an avg of 21 in this season in 9 matches(debut season) so good prospect and he is only 18 now so i guess he can add a bit of speed and skill to his bowling.Interesting prospect though

thats often not the case with Indian bowlers, don't know why

Looks a very mediocre bowler.

On another note, Pakistan's Virender Sehwag:

LOL Chahar has played a few domestic games and is being compared to Asif.
Let himp play a few years 1st before we go around comparing him with anyone

Imposter!

Seems more of an Anwar Ali than an Asif though. Good prospect nonetheless.

He looks very good in my opinion. Can swing the ball both ways, has a good action and looks quicker than current indian bowlers. Ranji trophy competition is great. He has all the ingredients but the problem is that we have see those same ingredients in many players over the years. Just have to be consistent from now. Anwar Ali's video was probably the best ever and he looked destined to be the greatest fast bowler Pakistan ever produced but now look at him.

He has fallen off the wagon. Consistency from hereon out is the key!

More of Anwar Ali than Asif. Anwar Ali is way quicker than this deepak guy though.

It is an insult to Asif being compared to him.

jo bhi kaho, that was an incredible exhibition of swing bowling.

you can't even do that on the PS3.

It was unbelievable bowling......I cant believe you guys just saw this.....when he did it this clip was all over the Indian media NDTZ, Star News, Aaj Tak etc.......they did his interviews....he's already a huge star in India.......but to be fair how many phast bowlers India ever had so its alright if they go overboard on this ;-)

In his first match 12/64.

Next 8 matches..... 28 wickets for 783 runs .... @ 27.96.

AZ, you remember John Rennie of Zimbabwe?

He used to do it all the time.

India's Mohammad Asif?

Does that mean he will turn out to be a cheating, lying, drug smuggling scumbag?

I hope not for cricket's sake!

On a serious note he seems like a decent bowler but we all know about India and their history of decent bowlers!

I suppose that sums up the pitch he was bowling on. :))

There was some seam movement off the pitch but its the swing through the air (Not pitch related) which was quite phenominal... Posters here are right this is more Anwar Ali like than Asif...

Must have been the overhead conditions.

OR

It could have been a windy day.

No one just turns up and bowls a team out for 21 without help from the conditions around.

Great prospect for India, I hope to see him in Indian team soon. He can replace Sreesanth and Ishant anyday. Happy to finally see a swing bowler in Indian team.

i think he must be compared to irfan pathan or ajit agarkar. if he beats them then compare to anwar ali. a lot of steps before comparing him with mohammad asif.

He's already injured. Sometime makes you wonder if we even have a coaching system for bowlers in our domestic cricket! Absolutely zilch guidance for these young bowlers.

well you can say he has signs to be mohd asif. he can swing it and seem it but is he consistent enough? what happens when he doesnt get swing ? lots of quesitons to be answered yet but only after more performances we can judge him.

Maybe he was bowling down a slope ? :31: Was he abducted by aliens when he was a kid?

Whatever it is - as a true Pakistani - I refuse to accept that India can produce genius fast bowlers.

well, he does look have some potentials but also some batsman did looked very amateur to gave away the wickets. This guy has got some good swing on the air plus deadly inswinger but unless he is picked to Indian team and shown his promises I don't wan to compare him with Asif, lets say he even not as deadly looking as Anwar Ali looked at u-19 world cup few years back..

But good for India if the guy can make it up !!

The Indian Ambassador will be contacting you shortly...better have a good excuse ready or NRI status will be history :D

Any chance I get a shot at NRP incase NRI is gone ? That way I can sneak to India through the Punjab border...

did you count how many from 40 he take in his first match against hydrabad. :13:

He'll play for india have an amazing first 5 tests get talked up and then 2 years down the line become an all rounder who can bowl a few overs :)

I don't care if turns out to be as good as Asif who is a "magician" imo esp. in helpful conditions as long as he is focused on his game and off drugs :). Too early really.

Are you taking a swipe at Pakistans finest? I am watching you like a hawk ( points 2 fingers at his eyes and then at you...)

the guy has some amazing swing ...he reminds me of waqars inswingers ...kick he crap 1 sharma out of indian team and get this guy in ...

Deepak Chahar-An Indian Pace Bowler

Deepak Chahar is of 18 years of age. He's from Utter Pradesh. Who plays for Rajistan. He is a right arm pace bowler.

I heard about this guy when he destroyed the hyderabad team on his debut game. He got Hyderabad all out for 21, picking up 8 wickets in the first innings, and then after that he picked up 4 wickets in the second innings. Thats when i got interested in this guy.

Now he has played 9 First Class games and he has taken 40 wickets at the average of just 21.17, and this was his debut season.

I think this guy could be a good future prospect for India. What do you guys think? Does he warrant a place in India's A team(if they have one)

Also does he have an IPL contract?

This is his cricinfo profile ---- http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/447261.html

This is the only video i could find: Ignore the balls bowled by Pankaj Singh

Cricinfo just wrote Right arm Medium. It even says right arm medium for Hammad Azam, but when i saw his bowling video he was bowling at the pace of 140+kph. BTW i added a video.

LOL look at the amount of green grass on the pitch <img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_D2hswkU0esg/TWVjiRUKNNI/AAAAAAAADJM/EAUTnKBhncU/duck.gif">

hahahahhaha SAF bowled out India on 138 recently and then they scored a huge total of 620/4.

There is nothing in this bowler. It was a complete PITCH MAGIC

how was it pitch magic, when the opposition went on to score 403 runs on that same pitch.
Why is hard to admit that the bowler did all the work....

Dude look at the weather condition (Overcast). Look at the pitch. I have given you an example earlier.

It was pitch which supported him and 1st session of every match is extremely important of a test match no matter how good is pitch for the batsmen. New ball will definitely swing abb beshak 1 2 over hi ho swing k.

It was a complete nightmare situation for the batsmen. 1st Session of Day 1, Overcast condition and a Green Pitch :D

Yea lagta hai match say thori dair pehli hi barish ruki thi :D

Rajistans opener scored 65 runs. He also played in that first session to. Why dint he get out? First sessions are 2:30-3:00 Hrs longs. Subtract 70 out of it he still batted for 1:mins.

I don't give a damn about his speed but they way he is moving the ball in both directions is eye popping.
That was one heckuva bowling spell !!!

And even if it was due to weather conditoons or pitch, have u ever seen any bowler get 8 wickets in the first session??

OK he is better than Michael Holding, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Denis Lille etc etc

Happy? :)))

Yeap that is one eye popper. I can tell he is defienetly bowling at the speed of 130+. You can tell that by the swing and the bounce.

And this guy has taken 40 wickets in 9 games.

Ok shahrukh619. Deepak Chahar is the next Wasim Akram. Let us all bow and hope he never makes the Indian team or they will be forever the best team in the world yahoo woohoo etc etc etc.

:rao

Just because i gave an INDIAN Bowler(many ppers are having problem with that) some credit, you guys start mocking me........ Tell me where did i said he is a Wasim Akram. If this thread was about a Pakistani bowler ppl would had been praising him....

look at samis stats in his first season of domestic 4 day, if i remember correctly he took 42 wickets at abt 15, 16 per wicket. first seasons can be very deceptive.

i read an article by aakash chopra i think once that a lot of indian bowlers reduce their pace to cope with the amount of domestic cricket they have to play.

But then Sami went on to represent Pakistan, where he also did good but then after 2007 don't know what happened.

Its true taht Indian bowlers play alot of cricket. They have like more then 10 cricket tornaments.
