Do weaker Asian sides help India retain their number 1 ranking in Tests?

Right now It’s a waste of time for India to play against any Asian country! It may help them to
improve their record but nothing else! Winner plays against the best. Brazil/Germany won’t play a soccer match against India or Monaco just to improve their Win/loss record.

But the Nz spinner won his team the series and Steve O Keefe turned out to be a one match wonder and was thrashed apart in the remaining games. Know the difference.

Still don’t understand how extctly does it help India ? If anything the rest of the teams in SC are low ranked and even conceding a draw hurts us badly wrt ranking points .
Also logically playing weak teams regularly is counter productive . Not sure what our team can learn from playing a Bangla or a SL side

It was with your reference to saying that spinner will run through Pakistan batting lineup on rank turner.. It can happen with any team just like what happened with india when O'Keefe caught India with their pants down...And I never said that Pakistan team is better than India..I just said that if India provide sporting wickets to visiting teams it will be close contest and on rank turner

Pakistan will dominate most of the top teams barring India...Yes Dilruwan did help lanka to beat Pakistan but Arthur and Sarfaraz both were brain dead during that series with their bizzare selection antics which help lanka to dominate Pakistan...

I think you are overestimating Pakistani batting ability to counter spin. Misyou have retired. Younis especially was probably one of the best players of spin but there's no one even in that vicinity now. India on the other hand are beating teams for fun at home by scoring heavily on those wickets. That's what test cricket is. Beating the opposition in their home in their favored conditions is what every team should aspire for. It's not same kind of pitches everywhere.

India are massively strong at home. It is better if we just completely accept this. It's not about rank turners.

The thing is on flat traditional Indian wickets, even Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will hit hundreds for fun. We have seen how Dhawan fools all of us by his performance in Asia and when he goes outside he is exposed.

So, a team which has Dhawan and Rohit average 60 in Asia and there is Pujara and Kohli already and you have guys like Shaw and Nair taking the attack in their early days explains just how strong India are in India or even Asia. Then you have Ash and Jadeja. Even a second string India will defeat most teams at home.
