What's new

Dominant Pakistan finish Day 2 of the 2nd Test on 144/2, 281 runs ahead of Australia

Will be good to see Mir Hamza announce his international arrival with a bang.

Scores on day 1 of Pakistan Vs Australia Test match...
Fakhar - 94
Sarfaraz - 94
Rest of the Team - 94

Need Finch early. Australia bat deep. They can get a lead of 100 to 150 if we aren't great today.

"There’s still a lot of goals I want to tick off": Nathan Lyon

After an extraordinary four-wicket burst took Australia’s Nathan Lyon past Mitchell Johnson and Brett Lee into fourth place on his country’s all-time Test wicket-takers list, he indicated he’s far from done breaking records.

It was moving past the former of those that brought Lyon the most satisfaction. “It’s a massive personal achievement,” he said. There’ll be banter between me and Mitch tonight no doubt, can’t wait to get my phone. He’s been like a big brother for me in the Australian set-up, so no doubt there’ll be a message from him. To do what I’ve achieved so far in my career is obviously very satisfying, but there’s still a lot of goals I want to tick off.”

He also credited former Australian batsman Michael Hussey for his influence in a post-match interview that more resembled an awards ceremony speech. “It’s been an amazing friendship,” he said. “I’ve been very lucky to call Mike Hussey a mate to be honest. When I came into the Test set-up Justin Langer was the guy who put me under Mike Hussey’s wing. I’ve learned so much from Huss, it’s been an amazing friendship. It just seems to be growing more than more, I’m just very lucky to call him a mate.”

Lyon’s four wickets in six balls reduced Pakistan to 57/5, giving Australia a good chance of securing a long-awaited Test series win in Asia. Lyon said he was bowling well, but still didn’t expect to have as much success as quickly as he did.

“No, not really [expecting it] to be honest!” he said.” I knew the ball was coming out of my hand really well and the wicket was a bit tacky, so I knew that if I could bowl my best ball and hopefully hang in there and stay patient we could build pressure and hopefully crack it from both ends. But I was very fortunate to crack it early doors. Normally the later you bowl you get late rewards, but it happened in reverse today.”

Why does Hamza grunt so loudly only to bowl at 130 kph....

There’s a mic in the stumps maybe? Have you EVER thought about that? Same reason why Sarfraz always seems to be yelling. Not rocket science.

Hamza bowled much better in the last over. Also got a bit of movement

We need to keep them down to 220 or less. A good start taking an early wicket.

When you can bowl so many deliveries at that length, it's no wonder your record is so good. Brilliant bowler this guy.

Does the mic get removed for the other bowlers? He's grunting loudly and getting no real output from the effort.

Could very well be his muscles are tight because of the nerves and he is trying to put in extra effort.

Regardless grunting loudly only to bowl at 130 kph doesn't look good.

YS has to striker earlier. If not, he tends to then bowl marathon spells and eventually picking up a couple of wickets

What if he’s just a really muscular guy (looks built). Tough guys always grunt when working out.

Man Abbas ever since the county stint has bowled unbelievably well.

I wonder if Aussie fans are slitting their wrists right now? :))

56/4!! Hong Kong can do better!!!

Abbas has single handedly brought his tean back into this match. Remember these are very good batting conditions. Class Act!!

Yasir shah should be dropped. He is the most useless spinner in these two teams combined.

They grunt like that because they are doing very heavy weights. You grunt because you are putting in effort. Many tennis players grunt, usually when they try to generate a lot of pace or when they try to generate a lot of top spin.

A fast bowler grunting means he is exerting a lot of effort. Fast bowlers don't usually grunt but when they do it's when they are bowling really fast or they aren't getting enough momentum from their run-up and are having to use their shoulders to generate pace. The second scenario will imply that either the bowler is not in rhythm or that he has poor mechanics in his action and run-up.

Also I don't think Hamza is that well built. I pointed it out yesterday that he needs to be leaner and could stand to lose a few kilos. Fast bowlers should be nice and lean like Starc, Steyn, Wasim, Waqar, Umar Gul, Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar, Mustafizur, Abbas.... you get the idea.

All injury prone guys. Not good examples at any angle in fitness regards. I’m sure Hamza is more fit than all those guys.

Yasir with a wicket. Hopefully that gets him on a roll.

Because almost all them bowl 5-15 kph faster than him, lol. And being injury prone doesn't have much to do with fitness/endurance. By that standard he's probably fitter than Rafael Nadal as well since he gets injured a lot.

I'll name more Anderson, Broad, Rabada, Brett Lee, Hassan Ali, Gillespie, Trent Boult... Point is fast bowlers are pretty lean with very few exceptions.

Hamza settling into a nice rhythm, bowling at a better pace too, consistently hitting 135kph now

I get a feeling Hamza is getting too much advice. Everytime he walks back he has to nod in 2-3 directions. Maybe he'll be more comfortable if he can just bowl in silence for a few overs.

Beautiful leg spinners wicket from Yasir there- drift in, dip, spin away.

It's amazing the knocks he gets from poster's on here- the opposition is 5 for 75 so they are well and truly just trying to dig in and survive, no risks vs him, he took 4 last innings, has won innumerable matches at these venues and you want a wicket every over like it's T20I.

Imagine Muhammed Asif in his prime bowling along with Abbas! would be a joy to watch.
