Within hours, the White House announced: "President Trump relieved Ms Yates of her duties."

She had "betrayed the department of justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States", a statement from the press secretary said.

It also described her as "weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration".

We done for standing up to this unAmerican Order, Ms Yates.

Some people say she violated the constitution by not enforcing the orders. These are ofcourse trump supporters. Would you agree?

God, this guy is even more of a loose cannon than I could have ever anticipated!

I'd give him a year or two tops.

Remember folks he hasn't even been in office a month and already protests are breaking out against him all over the place.

His h1b bill is pretty good imo how much ever a loss IT-tech will go through now,he will get a lot of white collar support just for managing to pass that bill if he does so.

But firing an AG is not really good but she could had been discreet about it.

A major chunk of the talent that these tech companies get are from abroad, your own country would be worst hit by this H1B ban.

Not only my country I would be hit personally but having seen this visa being exploited I cannot morally say he will be doing a wrong thing.

India may or may not have a great time after this because its way too dependent on IT but from the visa pov everything with H1b was actually wrong, except when utilized on research and 130k for research is already a median so yes fair enough i would say.

True, our IT companies are apprehensive about such a move. But they have spent the 2008 - 2017* period diversifying their foreign markets to include large chunks of Europe (Germany, Netherlands, etc.) and East Asia (South Korea, Japan, etc.) with Infosys leading the way in this regard.

The US is a fairly large market for them and they will be hit, but if all this is temporary they are better off biding their time until normal service resumes in a few years.

Desi's are jugadu. They will still find loopholes. :smith

You won't believe the level of jugaroo desis have. There is a uncle in my family here in Canada. He along with his wife is retired and wanted to visit his ancestral home in India as well as go around in the country. Now he has a Canadian passport, but on it still says place of birth as Pakistan which is a problem when going to India as you can only get visas for one or two cities, have to check in to a police station everyday and the visa duration is also for a very short period of time. However, he found a jugaroo Indian immigration lawyer and got a visa to India for unlimited cities, no police check-in and pretty long duration.

If she cannot be in sync with his government than she deserves to be fired.

No it's not. Her first job as justice Secetary is to uphold the law and constitution, not to serve Trumps executive orders, especially if they are not within the legal framework.

Attorney General's job is to uphold the law not to break it, and Trump's executive order is legally disputed.

Well her job is to fight it in the courts and it's the courts job to determine the legality. If she is advising the department to not represent the government in the courts, the government has every right to dump her.

Regarding H1b it's a very good decision. That visa has been abused by the Indian it firms. It's time these idiots stop being low cost labour and look at generating content

She represents the Judicial branch of the government...by duty she has no requirement to be aligned with the executive branch. The Judicial branch decides what's legal and per the constitution and not the president, sir.

What happens to existing H1B visa holders?

What happens to existing H1B visa holders?

From what I understand come back or get it increased to 130k(double of existing body shop standards) someone can correct me if i'm wrong.

Unless the rule will apply only to new ones and existing can remain.

Must be some strong jugaad. You would hardly get clearance for one month if your place of birth is in Pakistan if I am not wrong. Lawyers are our best friends :sanga

The H1B bill would be a slap in the face of many Indians who were worshiping Trump

Not really. Those who supported trump were not h1b visa holders. No of employees that go on h1b visa is still miniscule compared to number of techies we have here. The remaining techies just sulk at their misfortune of not getting opportunity.
They would celebrate this move. You are assuming our IT workforce completely depend on h1b.Wait for sometime before service based IT companies find some loopholes to exploit.

I doubt that the Constitution requires her to execute illegal orders.
