This will surely test the loyalty of BCCI and over enthusiastic IPL fans towards India. In the past also BCCI has proven that they think about India first and then their pockets. Boycotting Pakistan in bilaterals is a prime example of that.
Will BCCI take a hit on their bank accounts this time because lots of chinese companies are sponsoring them? I am sure and hopeful just like they didn't let Pakistan make profits by not playing against them, they also won't let these Chinese companies make profit through Indian Cricket and IPL.

Viru bhai looks like other sponsors are lining up and hit will not be that much given the COVID situation. Your thoughts?
It was VIVO who pulled out not BCCI.
It was VIVO who pulled out not BCCI.
In the end, this will turn out to be a win win situation for BCCI and Indian cricket..Vivo exit earns some goodwill from public and there is no financial impact with an Indian company coming forward to sponsor...slap on the face for those posting against BCCI and IPL.
So most players will hope and pray for not to have any drinks break.....Patanjali is a multi billion dollar enterprise. It has eaten into market share of foreign fmcg players in India.
Just because a name is in Hindi Does not make the brand less prestigious.

For IPL fans, money > patriotism. Its funny that PayTM that is part of IPL's sponsor pool has major shareholding of Ali Baba group. So, that so called "goodwill" with the indian public should go down the drain.
LOL patanjali IPL it suits india.

Another hypocrite who is happy with Indian govt banning everything chinese but getting super excited for VIVO earning some goodwill from indian public lol. As I said earlier the whole situation showed that BCCI has no self respect. They should have cancelled the deal before VIVO did.
Pls tell me why did Vivo exit the deal..who forced it ...Ultimately Vivo is the loser here..they needed access to Indian market and now they are losing it..BCCI and IPL are the winners here..
Dream 11 likely sponsors. Bid amount of 250cr inr.
thats a good amount in COVID situation.. just a small hit.
A hit of 50% - small hit LOL
and adding injury to wounds - its funded heavily by Tencent - a Chinese company

222 Cr for just 5 months of sponsorship is noice tbh...
$30mn for 4.5 months.
Heavily funded? Lol. Its one of many investors in the company.
Oh man this is disappointing I was looking forward to see Indian "patanjali" league.LOL.
222 crores is very good for a Covid time period. Beauty of nationalism, the parties must have decided to pump more money in given the IPL. If there are chinese investors on board what happened to the nationalism, principles of the BCCI and the stakeholders now? Is there an unwritten rule that you will turn the other way when money is involved?

Ofcourse most of the IPL fans only care about money and are less concerned about the sports. These are the same guys who will never look back at India if given an opportunity to settle abroad. I am pretty sure these guys wanted IPL to happen badly only because they wanted to show off in front of Pakistanis here.
Hahaha this is hilarious.
Boycott China drama results in BCCI losing more than half of their earnings this year replace Chinese mobile phone manufacturer with Chinese video game company. Tencent has majority stake in dream11. Its founder Jain own stake is 35%.
In the end Chinese will still earn money while bcci and franchise lose just to satisfy someone's political ego. Pure comedy going on, hope Boycott China campaigners don't stay silent and force bcci to find local Indian investors like Adani or Ambani the way they glorify them.

Ironic that you hate IPL so much that you mark attendance in every IPL thread....
I dont blame the indians - Chinese companies are rich and cannot be ignored, simply, no matter how much of a jingo you are.
Owning less than 10 per cent is hardly much. Lol.
Won't stop them from making profit from Indians though. This is why we banned their 59 apps.
It's good to see a different sponsor(thankfully not Patanjali).. also they get an opportunity to keep it incase Vivo pulls out.
Tencent is a gaming giant(in investments) and actually one of the innovative funding companies of China imo,as I have been corrected already Chinese business are needed in India..but we should still be careful with our data(esp personal) being on their servers.
But the other percent would be for Indians? In that logic of yours they are also paying 10% of IPL money..
Expect another Rs 80cr from two more new sponsors soon. That will take it to 300 crore plus for the season.
Tata was very interested but for them to bid on the higher side they demanded three different sponsor branding names for three of their companies. Bcci was not willing.
They have invested in other businesses also. Read this
On the other hand, for Tencent, this is in line with the company’s plans to invest up to US$200 million in gaming ventures in India in this year. The report also claims that the company’s gaming division, Tencent Gaming is the largest gaming company in the world. As far as its India investments are concerned, Tencent led a $115-million investment in music streaming service Gaana in February. Prior to that, it led in funding Flipkart and Ola. Tencent also owns stakes in messaging application Hike, healthcare startup Practo and education technology firm Byju’s. So far, it has invested $1.3 billion in India.
It servers no purpose to Tata to be on this..also if BCCI is anyhow allowing two more sponsors then why couldn't they just let Tata have 3?
I have already praised Tencent's vision in above post.

Rich Chinese basically have ownership in every major Indian company.
Cant escape it, even if they want to. Chinese have too much money.
This year's IPL will probably break all viewership record considering how much starved Indian public is for any cricket. Test matches in Eng had unexpectedly very high Indian viewership. Even CPL which started today attracted lots of viewers. Then imagine what IPL will do.
Brace for an impact...IPL 2020 might be the highest viewed cricket series ever and has potential to break all records.

So they've gone from "supporting our brave jawans on the border" to "meh, who cares let the cash flood in"
So much for nationalism lol.
Nationalism tabhi yaad ata hai jab Pakistan ya Imran Khan ki statement aaye
Lol, its clear that the BCCI had no issues with Vivo, it was Vivo who chose to exit. Where money is involved, all the talk of nationalism and solidarity with our troops goes out of the window

If Vivo had chosen to exit, they would have been liable to pay the entire amount. It was a mutually agreed dissociation.

Traders' body CAIT on Wednesday wrote to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) raising objections over the Indian Premier League's title sponsor reportedly having stakeholders from China. In a letter to BCCI President Saurav Ganguly, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said: "We are deeply pained to note that now Dream 11 has been chosen as sponsor of IPL 2020 which has Chinese company Tencent Global as one of the major stakeholders".
"We are of the considered opinion that awarding sponsorship to Dream 11 is nothing but a bye pass route to neglect the sentiments and feelings prevailing among the people of India against China for its regular attempts to invade the interests of India," said CAIT, which is spearheading the campaign to boycott Chinese goods.
Fantasy gaming platform Dream11 on Tuesday won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title sponsorship rights with a bid of Rs 222 crore, replacing Chinese mobile phone company Vivo for a four and a half month deal.
Dream11 has been one of the IPL sponsors for a couple of years now. Vivo and the BCCI suspended a Rs 440 crore-per-year deal for this season owing to the border stand-off between India and China.
The IPL, moved out of India due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, starts on September 19 in the UAE.
There are certain questions about Chinese company Tencent's investment in Dream11, but one of the BCCI insiders privy to the development said that it is less than 10 per cent.
Dream11 is an Indian company founded by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth.

Not the one BCCI initiated, in fact Vivo told the BCCI that they were not sponsoring the IPL this season therefore leaving BCCI with no choice but to accept their withdrawal.
