Eid Mubarak! Was surprised not to see a thread already.

We are celebrating today.

Eid Mubarak.

KP government celebrated Eid today, but the federal government will celebrate tomorrow, even though PTI is the ruling party in KP and at federal level.

This government never fails to amuse. The circus continues.

Popalzai and the KP government have completely rubbished Fawad Chaudhry’s science.

Eid Mubarek everyone!

Mamoon - Grow up. This is not a thread on politics, even though YOU did vote for PTI.

Uniformity shouldn't be mistaken for unity, it's okay to have Eid celebrated on different days. Even in North America some communities are celebrating Eid tomorrow, some followed ISNA or Saudi while others followed the "local moon sighting committee" and there are some that celebrate the same day as their home country. Celebrating Eid on the same day also doesn't take into account sectarian differences, for example somes Shias are celebrating today while Shias that follow Sistani celebrate Eid tomorrow and there are some subsects in Islam that believe you can only celebrate Eid after 30 rozas regardless of the moon sighting.

Eid Mubarak to all, hope you have an amazing day with the family and friends!!

Eid Mubarak everyone.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas RA narrates ,

“The Holy Prophet Pbuh offered a two-rakat prayer on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr and did not pray before or after it. Then he went towards women along with Bilal RA and asked them to pay alms and so they started offering their earrings and necklaces [in charity].”

(Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Eidain)

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday claimed that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 24 (Sunday) in many countries including Pakistan.

Speaking in a TV programme, Fawad said according to the calendar prepared by the science ministry, this year Eid will be celebrated across the country on May 24.

The minister said the interesting thing is that the festival will be celebrated on the same day in almost all parts of the world along with Pakistan, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

It is pertinent to note that a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been convened on Saturday, May 23 for Shawwal moon sighting in Karachi.

Muslims around the world are preparing to celebrate Eid over the weekend. The festival marks the end of the holy Ramadan month.

This year, amid the pandemic, celebrations were expected to be more muted, including in Muslim-majority South Asian nations like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

However, this has not exactly been the case.

Pakistan officials have announced that shops and markets can remain open for longer hours so that people can finish their Eid shopping, despite concerns over a rise in infections in the country. Large crowds are reportedly congregating at shops with little thought for social distancing.

And in Bangladesh, local media reported that there was "total disregard for the lockdown" as thousands of people began heading to their villages for the festival.

Indonesia has reported its highest number of daily coronavirus cases as millions of people in the world’s fourth most populous country prepared to mark the festival of Eid al-Fitr without the usual celebrations and gatherings.

This year’s festivities will be dampened by the economic hardship for many as Indonesian migrant workers, who usually send money back home to their families, have been left stranded and with no income.

Indonesian president Joko Widodo has banned people travelling home to their families for the holiday, though thousands have reportedly made the journey this week, despite fears that this could prompt further rises in transmission.

Officials said the virus has been spreading at its fastest rate over the past nine days, due in part to a worsening outbreak in East Java.

On Thursday, the country reported 973 new infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 20,162. The authorities have asked the military and the police to prevent arrivals in Jakarta until a full reopening of the capital is permitted.

To all my brothers, from the bottom of my heart i wish you all a very happy and joyful weekend.

Eid Mubarak

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said the Shawwal moon can be sighted today, and the country may celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday.

“The Shawwal moon was born on May 22 at 10:30pm and will be visible between 7.36pm and 8.15pm tonight in Badin, Thatta and Pasni,” Chaudhry said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday.

He added that, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Eid-ul-Fitr should be celebrated in the country tomorrow.

However, fellow cabinet member and Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri quickly stepped in to prevent a dispute between the outspoken science minister and the religious body tasked with sighting the moon.

Qadri said the final decision on when to celebrate Eid still lies with the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

"The nation will celebrate Eid according to the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee," Qadri said.

"Our beliefs and religious laws call for a visual sighting of the moon," the minister said. "There is no bar on technology being used for that process," he said.

"A nominee of the Ministry of Science and Technology has already been included in the committee. A decision will be taken by the ulema only," he said.

Qadri said Fawad Chaudhry was a good friend, but seemed to be interfering needlessly in the matter.

'Time for nation to celebrate together'
“Ever since the creation of Pakistan, there have been conflicts when it comes to religious events. When the Reut-e-Hilal Committee was established in 1974, these issues were resolved,” Chaudhry said at his press conference.

However, he added, the committee had always been in the middle of controversy.

“There are always different announcements by the Reut-e-Hilal Committee and Qasim Khan Mosque [in Peshawar, headed by Mufti Popalzai],” he said.

The federal minister rejected the notion that there was no relation between the sighting of the moon according to Islamic practices and the use of technology in doing so.

“Nowhere in the world is moon sighting an issue. With advances in technology it has become easier to sight the moon,” Chaudhry said.

Taking a jibe at the Reut-e-Hilal Committee, the federal minister said, “We are told sighting the moon with spectacles is halal, while sighting it through a telescope is haram. Aren't spectacles also a form of technology?”

He added that instead of being divided, the country should come together for religious events.

Earlier this week, Chaudhry had stated that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 24 (Sunday) in many countries, including Pakistan.

Speaking during a TV programme, Chaudhry said that according to the calendar prepared by the science ministry, this year Eid will be celebrated across the country on May 24.

The minister had said the interesting thing is that the festival will be celebrated on the same day in almost all parts of the world along with Pakistan, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan, like all Muslim countries, is gearing up to mark Eid-ul-Fitr amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has taken more than 1,000 lives in the country.

The country started observing Eid holidays from May 22 and will continue to do so till May 27, a notification from the interior ministry said.

Eid Mubarak to PPers and your loved ones! May Allah accept our prayers, good deeds and sacrifices and shower us with his holy blessings.

Eid Mubarak. Is it true that the Shahi Imam in the Mashriqi Humsaaya Mulk announced Eid to be on Monday, but Kashmir will snub him and celebrate with us? Symbolism matters.

From Pres Trump:

On Eid al-Fitr, the First Lady and I send our warmest greetings to Muslims in the United States and around the world as they celebrate.

Known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan—a month filled with fasting, prayer, reflection, and other traditional observances. Over the past weeks and months, as we have fought the coronavirus, we have relied on our faith, family, and friends to help guide us through these unprecedented times. As Muslims observe the day of Eid al-Fitr, we hope they find both comfort and strength in the healing powers of prayer and devotion.

Now more than ever we are reminded of the reassuring peace, uplifting love, and heartening fellowship that religion brings into our lives. We send our best wishes for a blessed and joyous Eid al-Fitr.

Eid Mubarak to everyone in PP.

What does the word "Eid" mean? Because I noticed muslims say Eid Mubarak both during Bakrid and the day after the fasting month for Ramzan and I often get confused between the two.

Eid means festival. Difference like you mentioned above is one is to celebrate end of Ramzaan, and the other is for the sacrifice.
