What's new

England [158/4] beat Australia [157/7] by 6 wickets in the 2nd T20I, lead series 2-0

Australia is in the game I think. First 6 overs with new ball will be the key, they will try to get atleast couple of wickets.

The great Archer gets slapped for 18 by Cummins and Agar :)

Need to close the gap in fielding. But we've been saying that since time immemorial.

Not to forget the field settings and ability to execute accordingly. Execution comes with experience though but strategies and field settings should be sorted out in the dressing room and then captain should be able to change them well as per the game situation. Babar is also a young captain as well handling few inexperienced bowlers, no excuse for the people in dressing room though.

Starc needs to do a Shaheen here and uproot the stumps of either Bairstow or Buttler early in the innings by bowling a yorker when they are least prepared.

The way Aus played, didn't even look like they would get close to 160. Eng last match were off to a flier and managed just over 160. So Aus have actually done quite well here, managed to grind out a score.

Warne saying Archer has the best yorker in world cricket. I dont agree as of now, I think Bumrah as well as Wahab have better ones. Archer can have one of the best, just needs to fine tune a few things and improve that consistency.

This is one of those totals. you never know. Pitch is offering some assistance for pacers
and spinners and Aussies strong discipline is there bowling.

Hoping to see some exiciting contest rahter then a walk in the park

Aussies are #1 in T20. These losses may dethrone them.

As a matter of fact, if England win 3-0, they may become #1.

England openers are out in the middle , Aussies need early wickets to come in the game.

Ahh Cummins is amazing, how do Aussies keep finding bowlers everytime!

As for England, just how impressive was that opening burst from Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, KEVIN PIETERSEN?

"It was fast, real fast. We highlighted before the start of play, England's inability to take wickets in the first six overs and Eoin Morgan and the management clearly thought 'how about getting a couple of slips in?' They had two slips in for a very long time and when Adil Rashid came on they still had a slip in. They got themselves the wickets, they set themselves up for a really good effort but some of the Australian batting was OK as well. So it is positives signs if England can eventually turn the corner in the first six overs."

11/0 after 2 overs.

Required run rate is 8.16. Aussies can make things interesting with a few quiet overs.

What a ball!

Bairstow gets out!

Oh it is a hit-wicket... unfortunate way to get out.

Lol! Bairstow got out by hitting his bat on his stumps

Good to see Cummins finally bowling yorkers again after a long time

They are pretty tough on back, that is one of the reasons for pacers with back issues are not easily able to deliver. Cummins have had a lot of back issues in early part of his career, Umer Gul also couldnt ball yorkers in later part of his career as had known back issues in his younger days and currently Shinwari also doesnt deliver a lot of yorkers in T20s mostly due to the back issues he has faced. I am not sure if its just in the mind as that they dont want to risk it or its genuinely tough for them tor deliver them due to the back.

Malan is definitely someone who came into the radar due to leagues especially PSL. Mohammad Akram who was with PZ knew a lot about him since his own playing years in county and drafted him in for the first PSL itself in 2016.

Starc's consistency has been somewhat of a problem throughout

It's time for teams to analyze Malan..

He is a pretty decent player to be honest, decent against pace as well as spin and can play all around. His power game obviously isnt as strong as some players in Eng LOI unit but, is decent. Just came into Eng's radar a bit rate otherwise could have been a solid option for tests as well few years ago. He scored a century in Ashes in Aus as well.

Maxwell against Buttler, that can go either ways

Yes but still needs to be analyzed , have to say the young crop of English players esp under Morgan are more ruthless but I'll wait till they hit a bad patch, many English batsmen don't recover after that.

Why is that umpires cant keep the caps and eye wear of players but other players can?

Malan has been the aggressor here, Buttler just going around run a ball till now

Teams don't choke coz the format, they choke coz middleorder being useless.

Wrong. T20 format has less overs and you have more pressure.

You can take your time in Test format. Lots of overs. Not the case in LOI (T20 specially).

There's a reason why Singapore beat Zimbabwe in a T20 game recently. I doubt they would've won in ODI format.

Kenya beat Windies in 1996 WC, reached the semis in 2003.

Zim reached super 6 in 1999, took out England and India.

SA lost 1999 due to Donald.

BD beat Pak in 1999, Ind in 2007.

Upsets happen more in T20.

Also, Zimbabwe beating England and India in 1999 were not upsets. Both England and India were poor back then.

Two of the best players for Eng on the crease. Simple equation for Aus, get these two out to get heavily back in the game.
