What's new

England (281 & 275) defeat Pakistan (202 & 328) by 26 runs to win the 2nd Test, win series 2-0

Aleem Darr screwing Pakistan over as usual

Ramiz Raja of umpires

Yet another benefit of the doubt decision going against Pakistan

I can't believe how the third umpire failed to see that the there was no finger under the ball and it clearly touched the ground!

Atrocious from Aleem. It really came down to his soft signal which was wrong.

Death blow for them. That was a doubtful call. Either way he had no business playing that shot a with a fielder standing there. Both wickets strangled down.

Home te suffered from wrong decision!!?

Another choke at last moment for Pakistan

They need to abolish soft signal for catches as umpires can't be sure in many cases (have not actually seen this catch yet).

No the rules have changed recently....soft signals don't matter anymore.

3rd umpire can make his own decisions independently.

Too many runs to get with all these mugs with bat. Salman gotta hold it down and show he can bat with the tail and take us over the line.

Anyone who thinks only lack of talent or skill is an issue, just got taught a lesson in the mental fragility of these Pakistan players.

As soon as the target became close, they wilted under pressure predictably so. It’s a script that has been played out a significant number of times now with this bunch of players and it won’t stop.

These guys are absolute mental kittens.

Joel Wilson is Buckner mk ii. He was appeasing himself against all evidence. Opticians or retirement for him. Pakistan were cooked anyway.

Awful review. Posterior before wicket way down leg

But I hope this is the end of Aleem’s umpiring career. Horrible.

Alarm daar should be removed as an umpire for good. So many wrong decisions. His focus is lost , old age. By colouring hair and beared can't hide his age by giving wrong decisions. Aleem can you hear me? Please retire.

I think it is more Aleem Dar's fault. Because Joe Wilson has to conclusively prove it hit the ground.

Well, anybody with functioning eyes could see that the fingers were never under the ball. It was clear evidence to overturn the on-field decision.

Full ball has to touch the ground. That view has to be available. Seen many many number of times similar decisions going fielding team's way.

How many times have our batsmen got out playing legside wide ball nicking to the keeper? I have lost the count

Yes that was a bad decision but there was no guarabtee that saud wouldnt play another stupid like that on a shortish delivery.

Absolutely pathetic.

Whats a full ball. Fully out of hand? Ball is spherical so there will only be a small area of ball touching the ground.

You need to have fingers under the ball for a catch to be declared legal. If any part of the ball is touching the ground then it is NOT OUT!

The shot was poor but 3rd umpire tried to mr smart instead of simply using his eyes , ball clearly touching Multan grass

At the end , first inns shambolic batting display from Pak will be the difference in this test I believe...

Pakistan have batted well in the 2nd inns...

Amount of times Pakistan batsmen have got out leg side is atrocious aswell. Dnt think anyone works with them on that point

That is because of the soft decision rule. if Aleem dar had given it not out, That would have stayed not out. They have to take out soft decision out.

Aleem Dar was really poor this whole test. He gave a record number of howlers on day one as well.
Erasamus is anyway a poor umpire.
Pathetic umpiring this whole game.

Hands/fingers could be touching the ground to complete the catch but if the ball touches the ground its not a catch. It was a wrong decision.

Because from the top angle you cannot see that when it is between gloves. or hands. We have seen so many controversial soft signal calls like this. They have to get rid of it. otherwise this will continue happening.

Interesting suggestions from Aleem Dar that the batsman was trying to play a shot for that last ball...

The technology was there to see if the ball touched the ground or not. It clearly did.

Mark Butcher is criticizing Pakistan's attempt to play those balls even after England telegraphing them. Yup. Either you play full blooded hook or bail out. Not these half baked tickle down.

That wood double strike has won england the game here.

Aleem should never ever officiate a Pakistani game, ever.

He is clearly over-compensating especially in LBW calls :@

ICC has to take him behind the woodshed. Discreetly.

It is more inconclusive than conclusive. I think it touched more than not touched. But whether it is conclusive or inconclusive. That is a different topic.

He is right , pakistani batsmen dont learn from mistakes.

Rules have changed that soft signal only works if technology fails and it didn't...so it was Wilson's ultimate decions...but we should not have fallen for the leg side stranglw trap but not only did we did, but twice...this is of our own making...

They're basically putting the neck in the rope. Not so much strangled as suicide

Man, it was totally clear that the ball touched the ground at the point he was about to get his hands up from the ground. There was further confirmation when his gloves got off the ground that none of his fingers were UNDERNEATH the ball; he had wrapped them around the side of the ball and had nothing on the bottom of the ball.
Moreover, Soft signal thing has been abolished in these cases; just read on Cricinfo. Soft signal only matters if the technology is not available. Otherwise the third umpire has to make a decision based on technology and not consider what the on field umpires said.

Pakistani batsmen now need to play their shots. Apply some pressure.
There is no other way, really hope the team management has the sense to tell the players that. These are not batsmen that they can get anywhere close to the 64 runs needed by blocking and waiting for the right delivery.

It’s over for us anyway.

Aleem did nothing wrong in live it looked out, and rightly it got reviewed. 3rd umpire fault.

I have seen abrar hoick a few in domestic matches. Hoick a few ,get 15 20 runs for pakistan somehow. 20 25 from salman and we will be close to target.

Even if Pakistan are 340-3 they can be 350 all out in the future they need to take first innings leads make it easier for themselves play more aggressive batsmen first of all.

This minnow type cricket needs to be abolished hoping to chase a big score every 10 matches while getting thrashed in the other matches.

Are you watching cricket for the first time? It seems so because most people who watch cricket would know that when you duck under the ball or take evasive action then it is deemed as playing a shot. That's why leg-byes are given if the ball hits the helmet/body while a batter is ducking/taking evasive action for a short ball and batters run.

The decision can be debated all that we like even if it was wrong call, we would still find a way to lose this, we should have been up 2-0, we basically had 2 golden chances and now we will be down 2-0. Pakistan test team is not a good team, and need a revamp and need tp select the correct players for correct format and play the correct combination.

You can sometimes get away with it in white ball cricket but not red ball.

Umpires can give leg byes if the batsman was taking evasive action. A batsman taking evasive action has nothing to do with whether they were playing a shot for an LBW.

Bad bad decision...hope the umprires are not afraid of the English media hyperbole if something not goes in their favour?
Just seen the replay, the ball whilst lodged in the gloves was touching the ground at the middle

Aleem dar has made so many shockers in his career ,this is not a surprise. Especially against india he has done his fair bit :D

Didn't they give soft signal last match?

Shafique was lucky to survive a confident caught behind appeal by Ollie Pope off a rising delivery. Although umpire Joel Wilson gave a soft signal for out, television official Marais Erasmus over-ruled it.

Pakistan Cricket really needs to figure out something about short balls, our players cant seem to handle it, regardless of pitch or condition just bowl short balls and our batsman will crumble.
