What's new

England [287 & 180] beat India [274 & 162] by 31 runs in first Test to take 1-0 series lead

What should Pandya do?

Only 53 more - should he play in ODI mode?

Send out Ishant.

Ask him to block the hell out of everything.

Pandya - please get over the line. Somehow.

Have seen Stokes do something in every kohli's dismissal back in 2016. I knew he wanted kohli to get somehow and today he has done it.

Have to feel for Kohli - deserved to be on the winning side if it wasn't for his incompetent team mates.

Pandya single of the first ball.

Not sure that's a good move.

Ishant survives.

Come on Pandya - do something!

Mark my words.

We will not recover from this if we lose.

If England can get Rashid on, that would be very convenient.

You need an allan border type of character in these situations. Not sure pandya can take india across the line.

First India let the English tail to score those many runs, & then batted like school girls minus Kohli. They don't deserve to win this, but feel bad for Kohli

To be fair, what choice does Pandya have?

How are we going to get these runs if he stops taking singles?

On the first ball of the over, this is basically a coward wanting to stay not out.

Given that Ashwin turned it square, the under-use of Rashid says much about Root’s thoughts on his selection.

If Indian wants to seriously challenge top teams, they can't go into tests with just 5 batsmen

Anybody remember Ishant batting with Laxman in Mohali 2010 in a very similar situation?

why in the hell would you bowl rashid. Pandya will demoish him and ishant can play spin. Get in broad who can wipe out the tail

I don't remember the last time i was so nervous in a test match. My heart is jumping & down with anticipation.

These relatively low scoring Test matches are far more exciting to watch than the 500+ runfests we see in places like Australia every year where the Kookaburra is smashed around the park.

If you want to keep the format alive you need more contests like this.

Am I seeing things or did it look like a faint edge on snicko before ball hit the pads.

Laxman was the best batsmen ever (at least from India) who has batted well with tail.... You won't get a player like him anytime anymore! Kohli should seriously look for 6th Batsman & have faith in him (It can improve the batting of No.5 also!) Also no Karthik...

I’m surprised. Very surprised.

I didn’t expect India to mentally disintegrate again.

Mind you, I once saw Wasim and Waqar win a Lords Test as batsmen from a fairly similar position.

Pleased for Rashid.

He's got the brunt of the criticism leading up to this match where it should have been directed at the selection commute instead. He didn't asked to be selected, just answered the country's call when it came.

No point playing dot balls.

Either 2 or 4 or 6 or single off the last ball.

I've always disliked Pandya for some reason. Today I've finally found the reason as well

Absolutely.

It’s why the first three Adelaide Day Night Tests have been so good.
