England (376 & 87/0) comfortably defeat West Indies (282 & 175) in the 3rd Test by 10 wickets to clinch the series 3-0

Very surprised that Windies got a 3-match series. They probably should only participate in 2-match series. There is a clear gap between Windies and top 5.

Was surprised myself to see that they got 3 tests instead of 2 as Pak would've got 2 for sure.

Pakistan tend to do well in England. So, Pakistan deserve a 3-match series in England.

But, Windies probably don't deserve it. The 3-0 whitewash confirms it.

All over. England win 3-0.

Before this series, England were at the bottom of WTC table. They have moved up to 6th position. Windies are now at the bottom.

England win third Test by 10 wickets!

West Indies skipper Brathwaite brings himself on for the denouement and his second ball is carted away by Stokes to win the match for England.

England win the series 3-0.

Disband WTC please. Windies are never going to be a good Test side . They have been hopeless for 27 years

There is no need for regular Test cricket for teams like Bangladesh and West Indies. It's a waste of time, energy and money.

Money, money, money. Indians don't seem to understand anything beyond money.

I believe BD should lose Test status (along with Zimbabwe and Ireland). But, Windies should play. Windies have a legacy.

Before bazball England were used to produce good quality pitch but now they produce patta pitch so their FTB can smashed bowlers for Fun

Does runs scored in games like this has same worth as that in a competitive series, Test cricket before the rise of T20 was not that one sided, but now there is a clear gap and sadly ICC agenda is different is there any hope eng will host WI for a Test series in 2034 looks unlikely

Wood takes five as England win third Test

Mark Wood took five wickets in a devastating spell of fast bowling as England wrapped up a 3-0 series victory over West Indies with an emphatic 10-wicket win in the third Test.

A raucous day three Edgbaston crowd roared Wood on after the lunch interval as his 5-9 in six overs spectacularly blew away the tourists, who began the day on 33-2, for 175.

Set a notional 82 for victory skipper Ben Stokes then hit England's fastest-ever Test half-century off just 24 balls, as he stepped in to open the batting.

Stokes, who finished unbeaten on 57, had opened with fellow left-hander Ben Duckett after regular opener Zak Crawley injured a finger in the field and thrilled supporters with some carefree Bazball hitting.

His knock included nine fours and two sixes as the hosts romped to the target in just 7.2 overs.

West Indies had earlier shown some resistance thanks to a maiden Test fifty for Mikyle Louis, while Kavem Hodge also made a measured half-century, before Wood supercharged the atmosphere with a superb spell.

This was the first time in his Test career that Wood has taken five wickets in a single spell, and there some truly eye-catching dismissals to savour.

He started by trapping Joshua Da Silva lbw with a toe-crushing full ball which the West Indies wicketkeeper knew was plumb, wasting no time in exiting stage left.

Shortly after Alzarri Joseph saw his middle stump uprooted by a delivery which tailed in past his bat before Hodge prodded at one and edged it into the gloves of Jamie Smith.

With three wickets in the bag Wood went for the kill, as the decibel levels in the Eric Hollies Stand rose every time an over of his began.

They sensed this was fast bowling of the highest calibre, and would doubtless even have drawn nods of approval from the great West Indian fast bowlers of yore.

Wood then sent Jayden Seales' off stump cartwheeling out of the ground – the most spectacular dismissal of the lot - having softened up the tail ender with a short ball moments earlier.

He secured his fourth five-wicket haul in 35 Tests two balls later when Shamar Joseph edged him to second slip where Harry Brook snaffled a smart diving catch.

There were eyebrows raised when Wood was handed a three-year central contract by the England & Wales Cricket Board last November, a couple of months shy of his 34th birthday.

He was only two players to be given deals of that length – the other was Brook – but on this evidence it looks a smart call despite his age.

Wood is bowling as quickly, aggressively and smartly as ever. A promise to break the 100mph could well come later in the summer when Sri Lanka visit for three Tests.

The fitness problems which plagued Wood earlier in his career, and deprived England of this type of menacing spell, also appear a thing of the past. Everything is clicking.

As a teetotaller he might not welcome the analogy, but like a fine wine Wood appears to be getting better with age.

Watched the matches on and off. Poor show from.windies, a good strong team would have penalized England for their mistakes.

With test matches vs Sri Lanka, Pakistan & New Zealand coming up, England have a genuine opportunity to get into the WTC final.

West Indies will only improve when they will get paid by the host boards.

England & Wales Cricket Board are paying match fee to touring Zimbabwe test team next year.

They are giving honest effort on the field. THey don't play recklessly. THey show discipline as long as they can. But i think there is alot of scope for harnessing their fast bowling. They need to form a pace quartet. Right now two youngsters are sharing the load. Shamar & Seales. But Alzaari and Holder are let downs.

In the batting problem is lack of long innings.

In the last 10 years

West Indies has played 80 tests

No. of 50s 148
No. of 100s 40
No. of 150s 6

That is shockingly low conversion.

Alzarri looked shockingly bad I thought. As the attack leader he leaked boundaries like a sieve and emitted very negative body language, which set the tone for the rest of the side. Either needs to pull his act together quickly or he will be replaced.

Meanwhile we know what S Joseph is capable of, but he didn’t look fit enough to be playing here.
