Our overseas batting is poor...you still dont have a clear idea? This is not a young side with most batsmen in their 30s and perhaps on last Eng tour. So dont expect any fairytale. We have to wait and see how the next crop - Pant, Gill, Iyer, Shaw etc performs.

Not really. Probably loss of confidence going around ATM.

Rahul - We will get a better idea.
Pujara - Poor
Kohli- Excellent overseas( England perhaps no, we have to wait).
Rahane- Excellent(But he lacks confidence)
Karthik- We will get to know.

Ashwin and Bhuvi can bat also.

Overall, no one knows how will Rahul, Kohli, Rahane and Karthik do. That's 4 names. Dont read much into SA series.

Curran is a strange choice.

If it isn't swinging, he will be cannon fodder at his pace.

If England want a l/a seamer in the XI so desperately there is an argument that Willey would be the better option (for this series).

Sam Curran has been selscted since he can bat as well. Not impressed with this bowling line up. If they wanted a bowler who could bat, then woakes is better but I guess hes injured. Its only anderson and broad. Stokes and Rashid are erratic.
