England thrash (146/9) Sri Lanka (95) by 51 runs in T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash

Might be wrong but I don't think Sri Lanka will win any matches. I think Pakistan and New Zealand will finish with 5 points and England with 2 if we don't get any further washouts

It will be better for the sake of tournament.

Hand on heart, NZ and Pakistan are the two most dangerous teams in this group. Teams that give anyone a scare in the knock outs.

If India goes through, I know I’d much rather face England or Sri Lanka

Its around 135 in t20is in top 3.
He has a SR of 150+ in t20s predominantly batting in the top 3. No reason why he can't be given the run at the top.
But Duckett can also be tried.
If he strikes at 136 in the top 3 and has a SR of 150 then how is his career SR a reflection of what he has predominantly done in the top 3? It's obvious that his career SR is inflated by the runs he has scored down the order.

All their other batters strike higher than 136 in the top 3.

Shanaka is the last hope for SL. Take the partnership to 100 without anymore losses to the 15th over, and give a fighting chance.

Not good for Pakistan. If England win , Pakistan has to beat England and hope they lost to NZ for a good chance to qualify. If they beat Pak, they are through and pakistan will then need NZ to lose a game and have worse NRR than Pakistan (would need to beat SRL.

I know Sri Lanka played an awesome game against Australia but they are not a good T20 side. They can have the odd good day but if you look at their results in the past 12 months they are quite poor. On top of that they are missing Hasaranga who is their biggest trump card and match-winner.

I just have an intuition they might defeat Pakistan.

If Pakistan wants to win the world cup they should beat every team. They can't slip up.

It's not that hard to imagine. If Sri Lanka get bashed by England and New Zealand then you know that great performance is coming where they suddenly start playing like a real, world-class team. You see this quite often with mediocre, mid-tier teams

I thought exactly that actually. Not that Sri Lanka a great side, but I think they’re going to get bashed by England and New Zealand, and will have that one win in them against Pakistan.

60-65 is quite gettable in the last 5, as long as Shanaka is there hand have at least 2 bats in the dugout

He's only batted 15 times in t20is in the top 3 in internationals.
His overall t20 SR is over 150+ over 300+ t20s (much larger sample), so there's a reason to believe he can do better at the top than striking in 130s.
Buttler is woefully out of form. It's better to try Duckett or Jacks as an opener in the current wt20. Duckett is also a much better player of spin to be play in the current wt20.

Although 74 off 7 overs isn't out of reach. But SL's tail has already started.
And it's pretty difficult to get on top of Adil.
