England National Cricket Selectors have named the following 14-man squad for the tour of the Caribbean where they will contest a three-match One-Day International series against West Indies starting in March in Antigua.

The squad remains unchanged from the side that finished the recent ODI series in India.

England ODI Squad:

Moeen Ali (Worcestershire)
Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire)
Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire)
Sam Billings (Kent)
Jos Buttler (Lancashire)
Liam Dawson (Hampshire)
Eoin Morgan (Middlesex) Captain
Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire)
Adil Rashid (Yorkshire)
Joe Root (Yorkshire)
Jason Roy (Surrey)
Ben Stokes (Durham)
David Willey (Yorkshire)
Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)

James Whitaker, the National Selector, said: “There is a huge emphasis on white ball cricket during the first half of 2017, as we continue our preparation ahead of this summer’s ICC Champions Trophy tournament in England.

“We felt it was important to keep faith with the squad that competed during the recent tour of India. The current group of players are making excellent progress under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan and head coach Trevor Bayliss and the tour of the Caribbean will enable the team to test themselves in different conditions against a competitive side in the West Indies.”

England will arrive in St. Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday February 22 before playing two warm-up matches at Warner Park on Saturday February 25 and Monday February 27.

Fixtures:

Warm-up match (50 overs), WICB President’s XI v England XI, Saturday February 25 2017, Warner Park, St. Kitts & Nevis (9.30am AST, 1.30pm GMT)

So just before Pak arrive - guess they will soften up WI so we can have a better chance :D

So Roy will only be available till 20th Feb and then LQ will go back to Azhar as opener? :13:

Glad to see Billings getting a chance, with the quality in depth England have in batting he's not had a chance to establish himself. Hope he can on this tour.

David Willey out of Caribbean tour

David Willey will miss England’s three-match One-Day International series against the West indies in the Caribbean next month.

The Yorkshire all-rounder had surgery on his left shoulder on Friday to further assess the injury he sustained whilst bowling in the third ODI against India last month. He has suffered a partial tear of a tendon and will be out of action until April.

Willey will be replaced in the England squad by Middlesex seamer Steven Finn, who is currently playing in the T20 Pakistan Super League in the UAE.

England fly to the Caribbean next Wednesday where they play two warm-up matches and three ODIs against the West Indies.

Thinking that maybe Chris Jordan should've replaced him instead of Finn on recent performances. Looked like he'd started to improve on his bowling in overs that weren't at the death.

West Indies drop Samuels for England ODIs

West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels has been left out of their 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against England.

The batsman last played for West Indies against Pakistan late last year, but was then left out of the squad for the tri-series in Zimbabwe that followed.

Samuels, who also bowls part-time off-spin, was cleared by the International Cricket Council to bowl again last week after serving a 12-month ban for an illegal action. He received the ban in December 2015 after picking up two suspensions in two years for the same offence.

The 36-year old has played 71 Tests and 187 ODIs for West Indies.

The teams will play two ODIs on Antigua (March 3 and 5) followed by a third contest in Barbados (March 9).

Why are Darren Bravo, Dwyane Bravo, samules, L simmons, Gyale, smith, pollard, Narine, Badree, and few fast bowlers...forget their names not included in this squad?

What a lousy squad by West Indies - why is Jonathan Carter STILL there despite one miserable failure after another ?

And for god sake Dave Cameron, get off your high horse and select one of your best batsmen in Darren Bravo.

Good to see Kieran Powell back though, he's been fantastic in the Nagico 50 over tournament. However they should've also called up Sunil Ambris who's also doing well in domestic one dayers, he averages 55 in LA cricket.

Samuels has been out of form for a while and has been rightly axed.

WICB policy is you must play in the Nagico 50 over domestic tournament to be eligible for selection. However those players you mention are plying their trade in the T20 leagues around the world instead.

England have a pretty settled ODI sqaud and later in year should be seen as favourites for the CT in home conditions.

will even say that he hasnt performed 75% of his potential till now

I have to see Irfan bowling to Cornwall. Absolutely have to do this.

Meaningless bilateral series. Hope England win so West Indies remain behind us in the Odi rankings.

Tom Curran added to England one-day squad

Surrey fast bowler Tom Curran has been called into the England one-day squad in the Caribbean as back-up for Jake Ball, who injured his right knee in the warm-up victory over the WICB President’s XI in St Kitts on Monday.

Curran has already started the long journey from Sri Lanka, where he has been part of the England Lions tour, to join the England squad in Antigua – where they begin a three-match series on Friday.

The 21-year-old has taken 10 wickets in the Lions’ two four-day matches against Sri Lanka A at an average of less than 19, watched by England selector Angus Fraser, after impressing previously with the Lions against Afghanistan and the UAE before Christmas, in last summer’s home Tri-Series against Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A, and in T20 and 50-over series against Pakistan A in Dubai last winter.

“It’s all pretty surreal right now,” he said before leaving the Lions hotel near Dambulla this morning. “But I’m giddy, I can’t wait to get out there.”

Toby Roland-Jones, the Middlesex all-rounder who formed an effective new-ball combination for Curran in the Lions’ four-day matches in Sri Lanka but had not originally been selected for the one-day squad, will now stay in Sri Lanka for their five-match 50-over series – which starts in Dambulla on Thursday.

Both Roland-Jones and Curran have also been included in the South team to play in the North-South Series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi later in March.

Just to correct my earlier reply - Marlon Samuels has been out of touch in Tests, not ODIs. In ODIs he's actually been in good form. He didn't play in the Nagico50 as he went to the PSL. So under WICB policy he is not eligible for selection.

Narine is also out in the cold as he refuses to play for his local team Trinidad and Tobago, because a leaked email from the board president accused him of chucking.

Darren Bravo is also exiled as he called WICB head Dave Cameron a "big idiot" on Twitter a few months after he was not given a central contract. So under Dave the Dictator, he's out. That's West Indies cricket for you.
