To play against a tough opposition team even if you lose really badly always works in your favor in the long run. Receiving that thrashing from the Aussies in the ODI series appears to have toughened the English team up a bit. This is indeed an upset, Sri Lanka were favorites to win this match. I was impressed with the English played Murali and Mendis.

The turning point was the counterattack by Collingwood against Malinga especially those 2 sixes.

Actually Collingwood deserved the MOM. The way he pulled Malinga for those 2 huge sixes was absolute class and a huge slap to Malinga's face and ego. That counterattacked changed the momentum in Sri Lanka's favor.

I think they were caught unawares by the pitch at first and then it was their bowling that really suffered. They did not have the correct type of bowlers to exploit the conditions.

Their seamers didnt have any pace to cause any undue trouble and the spinners were basically ruled out of the equation.

SL just arent built to play in these conditions really.

Sangakara got his own medicine today. Complaining about the pitch. Doesn't he remember Dumbulla where only monkeys and birds watched two tests and two ODI's so SL can claim their first series against Pakistan.

After 4/17, SL was lucky to get 212. I thought we would see them beat WI low total. Considering SL's 4/17 and 5/81, I think Pak did ok with 5/133.

I believe its our over confident after the game against SA that contributed to this failure, 4 wickets for 17 runs, isnt going to help you much, also the total was too low, England only had to play defence and pick up the loose ones. Well played England.
