England v West Indies: First Test - Lords [Updates]

Bravo got out 2-3 overs ago on 56 off Collingwood
WI 288-6
Chanderpaul on 44 Ramdin 7

363/7 at stumps. Good day for the Windies, solid runs on the board with Chanderpaul playing well at Lord's again on 63*.

Game looks like a draw, unless England wrap them up quickly tomorrow, and post quick runs, and bowl them out on the final day, but it doesn't look like happening.

Harmison should definitley. be dropped when Flintoff returns.... he is the most overrated bowler England have ever had. Any tall fast bowler would perform on pitches that offer awkward bounce. On any other track he is useless.

Mixed day. If we start well tomorrow and somehow manage a lead of 100+ on first innings we still have a chance of winning, but with Hoggard's injury the bowling attack has turned from the 'barely acceptable' category into the 'utter crap' category. Panesar is a little gem but he cant bowl out 20 West Indies players on his own.

Harmison was an absolute joke today. Yet again. And the worst thing is that deep down we all knew it was going to be the case.

Some resilience shown by the Windies but the English are still on top. They'll probably get a lead of 150 odd, score 225 quickly, and set them 375 to win. That way they can bowl for about a half hr at the end of day 4. Monty will have the whole of day 5 to bowl out an inexperienced batting lineup. Windies have to play well for 2 more days to escape with a draw.

Harmison gets a wicket at last. Taylor smashes a drive straight to cover and the substitute fielder takes it.

421/9

Amazing shot from Powell. A low full toss which he gave himself some room for and it whistled to the cover boundary. Proper Caribbean flick of the wrists. Now he has just followed it up with a perfect cover drive which was a photographers dream.

6th wicket for Monty and another lbw. Collymore gone and so the innings ends at 437. Good fightback by the Windies. A draw is on the cards.

"Steve Harmison in today's newspapers: "I was reasonably happy with my bowling yesterday". Perhaps that highlights more than anything why he should be dropped."

what the hell is wrong with harmison?

Tea day 4 - England 553/5d & 105/2 v West Indies 437

England lead by 221 runs with a session and half left today. I guess england will be looking at 350-400 and then maybe having 80-90 overs at west indies to try and win the game.

The two at the crease really need to look to accelerate now. They are both set and so they should look to play their shots more.

130/2. Cook 64, Pietersen 34

Cook gone caught behind. excellent bowling from collymore.

139/3

Collingwood slashes his 1st ball thru vacant area between slips and gully.

Pietersen is off now. He's starting to charge every ball. Also just brought up his 10th 50 in test matches.

18 off Collymore's over including fours 4s. Pietersen and Gayle engaging in conversation every ball.

Pietersen is edging 4s but Nasser saying he is "opening the face". Give over Nasser.

spanking straight drive for 4 by KP.

hes lokks in majestic touch here! Dominating proceedings.

Eng 187/3

221/3. Pietersen and Collingwood going along at a run a ball. The lead is 337.

Collingwood finally goes playing the pull shot. It's been on the cards for a while and finally he finds the man.

Gayle gets KP lbw playing the reverse sweep. All fun and games out there between these 2. Good sporting game this is. Pietersen out for 109.

Gayle running thru the lower-middler order here.

Matt prior gone for a quick 21. Monty last man in...

Errrr where's the declaration? What is the point in this? If we could nip out a West Indian before the close it would give everyone a big lift and round off a great day for the team.

Eng 284/8 dec - lead 400

W.I may have to bat for 3 overs.

Harmison needs to learn that you have to bowl on the strip.

His lack of control is comical to say the least.

Yowzers, right in the cojones! Apart from the two wides that was a great over actually!

The English seamers have been appalling in this match.

Now I think I know how it must feel to be an Indian fan.

Save us Monty!
