This is proper slow and dry Asian wicket. Pujara doesn't have the ability to score on overseas pitches. Don't really know why England has dished out a wicket like this to India.

If Moeen can get a 5fer out of those pitch marks, Ashwin should be very disappointed with himself if he can't pick up 5 in the next innings.

My man Pujara gets a century... I never stopped believing. Well, maybe a tiny bit of doubt had crept into my mind after his struggles in county cricket this summer :)

Seems like his county stint is paying off big time.

I agree. Ashwin is a good bowler on spin friendly pitches.
 
England need to take a leap of faith and bring back Hameed and Bell. Hameed might fail but he might actually stand up and deliver and then England have a gem for the next decade. Bell can do a job until the next Ashes and by then, hopefully Pope and/or Buttler are ready to become solid test batsmen.

Root is trying hard to spice up the series. He should have brought back fast bowlers and finish off the tail. When he finally decided to bring back a fast bowler he gave the ball to trundler curren :facepalm:
 
If England can keep their pace bowlers quiet with the new ball, they can get a score of around 300. Ashwin should have fun with the English batsmen but with no other spinners, England can attempt to block him out and score against the others.
 
Moen has made a lot of difference in batting and bowling, good to see thread populated now was so empty yesterday.

Good timely knock by Pujara.

I don't even see what's wrong with that. I'd much rather some consistently score test fifties than someone score 10s, 20s and then maybe get a big score.

Anyway, it is just ridiculous that Rashid is not being used. He is barely going for runs, the pitch is wearing and the Indians only have a batsman left. This is the real criticism Root should be facing.

Think you are really being unfair on him, he has done well in these conditions, and he wasn't that great in first innings after getting the wicket as he got carried away, but he is still bowling better than anyone else we have on bench (Bhuvi is not on bench).
 
Indian batters r really really weak against quality spin bowling.

Moeen must be licking his lips at the prospect of bowing against Indian FTB's in the fourth innings on this wicket.

Posters here underestimating Indian bowling , England batting has been really bad , they may well be bowled out for 150 here .

Tongue in cheek comment. Root is a wonderful player, but needs to start playing more impactful knocks.
 
The pitch looks absolutely dead now..no movement of the pitch even for the new ball..this was a pitch where India shud have got 350+
 
England should be worried now, this lead might cancel out any advantage England have by batting first in this innings-shootout.
 
Manju Didi is such a cringeworthy commentator. Don’t know how does he get so many commentary gigs.

A Lead of less than 150 wasn't going to help India cushion up the 4th inning horrors they are going to face, Bravo from the Tail and Pujara but that's about it

Just like yesterday, 5 or so overs left in the day.

If we can get Cook / Jennings / both out, it's a massive win.
 
For this tiny 27 runs lead to be meaningful, have to take out at least English openers before they cross it.
 
If England scores anything above 150 it's series over for India, we are 130 short at the very least

Naah I think it would remain as game changing moment. Doesn't look like fast bowlers will have much impact on this pitch with the new ball, and I see england giving us a 275ish target

275? I doubt we can even score 180 in the final dig.
 
India need to go for wickets , this England line up doesn't have it in them to grind it out. So they should look to be positive. Should be an exciting finish.
