Being 2-1 up with a Test still to go, then abruptly running away & coming back a year later to lose the rescheduled fixture doesn’t mean winning a series, it means drawing a series.
It’s a 4 test series
One random additional test after ok doesn’t count.

Won fair and square

So far in this series

A settled team must had won it by 3-0.Lots of rookie mistakes in captaincy and from batting point of view
Partly coaching errors too. They were not in sync. For instance not bowling Sundar for 69 overs a massive red flag that everyone noticed. I am not sure no one sent message to Gill.

Gg is as good as rookie in test cricket. He behaved like aqib in Indian against nz tests. He trusted only spin pitches but dont know anything about players
form or capacity to survive on what conditions. (Rohit,Kohli,Sarfaraz)

India has a very strong team. However, still they are getting dominated by SENA teams in recent times. It just goes to show you the level of Cricket SENA plays.

We have been playing Rohit, Kohli for too long. That is the price we pay. If they had played in this series we would be trailing 0-4 by now

Average test experience for INdia -= 33
Average test experience for England = 50

based on last test. Crawley has played more tests than Pant.

Imagine Rohit's entitlement.he wanted to be captain and automatic choice for all the test matchesn in eng. Same goes for kohli too.they are self centred and selfish to the core.We need to get rid of them in odis too.

In Australia the only test we won was without Rohit. Ashwin probably was forced to retire as well. Then Rohit sat out. Bumrah was overused by Rohit which injured Bumrah. Bumrah left early in the 5th test. It was as chaotic as it could be. INspite of all that India could still have potentially drawn the series had Bumrah been available or even won if Pant had not played that stupid shot as well. Only series we were abysmal was against NZ in India. Pathetic pitches resulted in self goal.

More than pathetic pitches , its rohit and gg failure.Rohit optiing to bat on spicy wicket leaving out akashdeep.Gg not able to see the deficiencies of rohit, kohli, sarfaraz against spin but getting stuck in old era.He was involved in home loss against eng in test series .He thought one trick will do .He should have learnt the situation but Bangladesh series itself. Dravid went under the radar but he and rohit were the real culprits imo. They have not encouraged any new batsmen or bowler .Always played/shuffled their favourite quota players but did nothing to build the test team.

Mate you don’t win fair and square when the series is incomplete. The series was later completed and it was 2-2. This attempted revision of history isn’t going to work.

They think 2-2 is a win. LMAO.

These people clearly have mental health issues. They are out of touch with objective reality. :inti

It was staggering nobody was impacted after that horrendous series loss. Had they dropped Kohli and Rohit right there everything would have been different. Both Rohit and Kohli averaged 15 each faced less balls than all the youngsters. Less than Jadeja.

In india, no one ever was impacted. Its all about power and network.

We won the series there

One off test post ipl I don’t care about. Makes no sense to do a random one off tests post ipl

Indian team had zero prep for that one off test.

India have become weaker in Test. :inti

India's last 12 Tests: 2 wins, 2 draws, 8 losses.
India is ok
It’s just that England is too strong on flat pitches

They would demolish any past great side on flat pitches

We are playing out of our skins to be competitive. Infact we could have been 2-1 up easy if not for rookie mistakes

England lost 1-4 in India. INdia beat Australia 4 test series in a row. So it was always tough to win 5 tests in a row. Even with so many chaos India potentially could have beaten Australia but for the presence of these dead weights. Same here in England. India dominated ENgland. That is something even English fans agree with. India lost moments due to some misfortune. Any other team would be trailing 0-4 against this England.

Lol hahahah indians are celebrating the draw once again like they won the world cup.
India in last 12 tests
Won- 2
Lost- 8
Draw- 2
Zimbabwe would be proud of this record.
India is a mediocre team with mediocre players.

I still don't understand why these clown fans and players are arrogant after getting beat like this.
They have been dominated so badly.
Their trundlers got hit fo 669 runs. That's so bad.

That bumrah the ugliest action guy has zero impact.
When he plays India loses more than they win.
Matches played-48
Lost-23
Won-20
Draw-5

I am being facetious. But England team would definitely pummel past great teams on these bazzballing pitches

Ben Stokes ruled out of final Test vs India with right shoulder injury, Ollie Pope to lead

The England Men’s team has announced four changes to their XI for the Rothesay Fifth Test against India at the Kia Oval, starting on Thursday.

Captain Ben Stokes is unavailable due to a right shoulder injury. Also missing out are spinner Liam Dawson and pace bowlers Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse.

England have included Jacob Bethell, who will bat at No.6. Surrey bowlers Gus Atkinson and Jamie Overton come into the side, along with Nottinghamshire quick Josh Tongue.

England line-up:

 1. Zak Crawley
 2. Ben Duckett
 3. Ollie Pope (c)
 4. Joe Root
 5. Harry Brook
 6. Jacob Bethell
 7. Jamie Smith (wk)
 8. Chris Woakes
 9. Gus Atkinson
10. Jamie Overton
11. Josh Tongue

So the curator had issues only with visiting teams pitch inspection always.eng players were inspecting the pitch in his presence.what a hypocrite.

Stokes' injury is a big blow for England. Bethell is probably the best alternative, but Archer and Carse going out compounds problems a bit.

Not sure how convinced I am of Ollie Pope as captain.

I don't think it compounds problems. Carse was averaging 60 in this series with the workload and these pitches and has had niggles since the 3rd Test.

Jofra cannot play back to back with such a short turnaround.

This is the home ground for both Overton and Atkinson and I expected both to play.

England will go 3-1 up in this series. I predicted this from the beggining.

Its unfortunate the 2nd test happened due to outside factors

Pant's absence will be bigger than any absence.

Gillys heir will be a huge blow for India and huge for Eng.

Eng should win this easy, if Eng loses this match then test cricket as a whole is in trouble due to the poor quality of players that are playing in this period...

I'm surprised to hear Carsen averages 60 in this series. Because he has definitely bowled some vital spells.

If everyone plays to their potential this will be a draw. only question will remain whether India will surrender wickets to unfamiliar bowlers. They have been doing that for a while.

That can be tied to back to back injuries of Pant. Even at Lords his hand injury restricted him from play to his full capacity. He is a genuine match winner.
No disagreements there. One of the most exciting cricketers in world cricket today and a genuine game-changer

English fans miss him as well. One of the few guys who actually entertained the crowd. He is always a box office hit in Australia. Everyone love him to death. Now he is having cult following in England as well. Cricket needs such characters. Given the fact what he went through this is a remarkable come back. Guys like prithvi shaw who was considered next Sachin did not show that kind of will power to come back into the side. Pant is a great role model.

I think the team that wins the toss will likely choose to bowl first. Batting can be challenging early on under overcast skies, but the pitch generally improves by Day 3. Unlike Old Trafford, it tends to deteriorate in the later days. These days, it's rare for English Test pitches not to produce a result.

more than cricket, I think test cricket in particular desperately needs players like him. Because this is a format that you often feel is struggling to stay relevant to bring in new fans.

Gus Atkinson is a very good bowler. And another guy who is very useful with the bat too. I am surprised he hasn't played in this series so far. Unless they were being cautious of injuries, it doesn't make much sense. Tongue has potential but has alot to learn about control.

England is very specific about their structure regardless of who goes missing. They never compromise on batting depth. They expect bowlers to be good with bat. That is why Atkinson is coming back even though he lacks match practice. They back only such players. I know they are not playing bazball in this series. But still they want that insurance just in case if they want to go on the attack.

Which is why I am surprised that they have waited until now to select him.

Nasser gave an explanation for that. THey don't want two players coming into the side at the same time after injury break. What if they both break down. So they were wary of that. Now they are forced to pick him. Wood was supposed to be available. But that guy given his bowling style will have a chequered career.

Okay, taht makes sense.

I'm not sure why Wood is still playing test cricket. Whenever he plays, it always seems to end in disaster. He is too injury-prone for test cricket, and keeping him in the red-ball setup----on the off-chance that he'll be fit for Australia----isn't doing England any favors.

Having captained England only in 4 Tests before, Ollie Pope's solitary loss as skipper came at The Oval, against Sri Lanka in September 2024

Unavaibility of Stokes has made the job easier for India, he was the difference in last 2 matches... In first 2 matches he was not quite there, so just when he was making the crucial balance to his team, he is out, and that's big blow for England... He may not be missed as a captain, but as player (mainly bowling) for sure...

India might also miss Pant, but somehow they have to make up for it... India's batting will be bit thin, if they opt for the team which is circulating at the moment (Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj). The specialist batsman ends at No.4 literally, after that there is no Pant either, Jurel is a substitute and doesn't have much experience... Jadeja & Sundar are good enough (at current form) but still they are alrounders...

It is going to be a gutsy move, but they should hope that the bowlers do the job in picking up wickets... One thing is sure we will see a result with this team (either win or loss, and not draw). Only satisfactory thing is even England will be a depleted side, especially missing Stokes... So India too have a chance if England are playing this team (Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (capt), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue) That's a lot of changes...

Kuldeep (if playing) is the key (and we should hope that his best comes out this time... He is either completely ON or completely OFF)

Pakistan's last few test series in England

0-1 in 1987
1-2 in 1992
0-2 in 1996
1-1 in 2001
4-0 in 2006
3-1 in 2010
2-2 in 2016
1-1 in 2018
1-0 in 2020

In 2020, Pakistan was on course to win the first test only to lose the final session against Buttler and Woakes.

India's last few test series in England

1-0 in 1990
1-0 in 1996
1-1 in 2002
0-1 in 2007 (last Indian win in England)
4-0 in 2011
3-1 in 2014
3-1 in 2018
2-2 in 2021-22
2-1 in 2025

The last test series win India enjoyed in England was in 2007 but since then Pakistan and India have had similar records in England. Not sure what India is gloating about, Pakistan has won more series in England than India and it is India which has comfortably has had the better players than Pakistan in the last 20 plus years but their out put is not really different in England in comparison to Pakistan. If anything, Indians ko sharam se doob ke mar jana chaiye for terribly under achieving in India of late.
POTW stuff barring some harsh words 👏👏

Wonder if india could have done more damage if they had made England bowl the last 15 overs in the 4 the test.

Irritate the hell out of harry brook by blocking after the century to get him to do something stupid.

So clearly Eng looking towards Ashes now.

But some glaring mistakes in selection have made this a freebie for India. It's just like the opposition need 2 runs to win and the bowler bowls a no ball and that bowler is Harry brook.

1. Why Dawson out, the run stopper of India
2. Why liability Woakes still playing
3. Why tongue in? Although just like Bumrah he is awful against top order
4. Why pope the captain, who has already lost recently at Ovals.
5. Archer and Stokes would be badly missed but anyways Ashes more important for them

Now wait for Indians like my pals raj and Devadwal making a victory lap at PP. After winning test against this weakened XI. Only good news Bethell and Atkinson in

India without bumrah, pant, shami
Too
Archer is too tired and his body can’t handle more than 2 tests.

Stokes is a big loss indeed. Warrior. Pant is basically our stokes.

But I have heard you are going to bring in Arshdeep. He would be an X factor. Also Shami and Iyer were dropped by no other than GG. Bumrah should have played after @Devadwal assured us of his patriotism. It's a shame for India that only plays when he wants too.

Pant loss is a big blow for India given Archer also not playing
