England vs India | 5th Test | The Oval | September 7-11, 2018 | Day 2 Thread

This Indian team is a complete joke.

ICC should seriously think about assigning more points for winning away from home.

Who in his right mind would believe that it's a no1 test team playing against no 5 team :facepalm

Agree with assigning more points for winning away from home but should also reduce more points losing at home. Sounds legit then.

Buttler should switch positions with Bairstow for the series against Sri Lanka. He's playing as a specialist batsman, is in better form and plays spin much better.

India just want the flight home. England need to take this form and character into the series against Sri Lanka.

Different ball game. Their tail resistance won't last long against 3 spinners on turners and top order is not performing in any case. Cook should have stayed at least for another round of Asia tour and one Ashes at home.

I don't think they will beat Sri Lanka but I would like to see them give a fight at least.

Should be an interesting series.

Kohli should go and score 600 runs in this series. Phenomenal performance from him.

He already has dominated a series in Australia and South Africa and England will add up to it.

Yes, he's been very dominant. I would rank them as follows:

- The series which he lost 2-0
- The series which he lost 4-1
- The series which he lost 2-1

Kya dominance hai, yaar. :salute

They can win if they bat first on a couple of rank-turners. Moeen, Rashid and Leach can win them a couple of games against a Sri Lankan team with no good batsmen.

Nightmarish day for India , unbelievable how bad they were especially after the dream day yesterday. A lot of questions for Kohli's captaincy and the staff are going to be asked, another debacle in the Asia cup and heads willl roll

He scored 600 runs in two of those series.

Ab woh aur kya kare!

Won't, we'll see that.

Bowling on turners also need lots of specialization - Moeen's record in IND is poor & much inferior from ENG, while Rashid isn't a Test quality leg-spinner, the earlier ENG undertsands that, the better for them. SRL doesn't have Sanga or Mahela, neither ENG has Cook or KP, their edge was bottom half batting, which I don't see lasting long against Herath, Dilruhan & Akila. SRL's batting at least has Karuna, Chandimal, Angelo & Mendis - these guys can counter attack spinners, can stay long. If ENG wins all 3 tosses, may be they'll win 1 Test, but if SRL wins 3 tosses, they'll bat 4 or max 5 times.

England did brilliantly to get well over 300 from 198-7 overnight. Broad after a long time showed he can bat if given a start although the shot he played when getting out was a silly one. Butler held it together at the other end spanking the Indian's making them chase leather all over the park getting some crucial runs!!:kakmal Very seldom does a team lose after scoring over 300 runs in the first innings of the match, I don't see it happening here either. We all know that Anderson and Broad are wicket takers doing the business again by getting rid of the incredibly overrated Indian batsmen who again started falling like apples from a tree:ashwin The lad Curran with his unorthodox action seems very difficult to play then there is Moin blowing hot and cold yet offering something different nonetheless good enough for India at home. As for India they are just a one man show really as we've all seen again. No one other then Kolhi is offering much resistance to the English onslaught:tahir2.
