How awesome is Strauss? Talking about being class in both formats of the game.

ah the middle overs in ODI cricket...so invariably, unbearably dull

netherland 292=6
can't believe it just woke up..
are we gonna see upset today
netherland 296-6
flat pitch????

They should try to keep Trott in and on strike for as long as possible. :misbah

He has actually been up and down as a test batsman for some time, but can still pull a classy innings out of the hat when it is needed the most. As for ODI cricket he seems to be improving with age. A quality England player that will go down as one of their most successful openers and captains.

:sachinDoeschate looks to be struggling a bit with his injury now.

England just need to keep picking up 3/4 singles an over and let the run rate climb :)

RRR 6.22 is fine for now, but we need a couple of boundaries to release the slight pressure that has been mounting.

:))) Bumble asking Ravi Shastri if they can watch Tommy Cooper in India and Shastri ''Well he didn't play for Glamorgan'' :))

still a long of match remaining .. netherlands can create a panic in the eng batting through their slow bowlers .. who are now doin a decent job for the last 4-5 overs

there is something wrong with the balance of your team . England will struggle chasing totals against big teams imo . Three very good anchors in Strauss , Bell and Trott , which is great ..but no one to finish off matches , a big hitter ideally ?

KP opening is a big no for me . Bopara should open instead , who i have seen play some good innings here in subcontinent , but even if he flops its not such a big loss early on .

Well Eoin Morgan is obviously meant to play that role

Nasser is brilliant : Netherlands lack the wicket-taking bowlers like Pakistan (the very first name he mentions),Sri Lanka, teams who have won World Cups.

Then he says ''You never know with Pakistan they are very dangerous, you can never write them off''.

How many group matches you are required to win, in order to qualify for the next round?

Morgan is a big loss...

they're trying to do something different with KP to arrest his poor middle-order form and so they can abandon the Prior opening experiment. too early to tell if or how it will work.

I am just glad to see Bopara playing. Prior at 7 is also a potential success story on flat pitches...

the lack of a genuine finisher is worrying, but it's just bad luck with injuries. I would have had Morgan at six.

balance aside, there is no doubt that the batting lineup is strong and long (Bresnan, Broad and Swann late on), so we might get away with it.

That's because Nas actually understands the game unlike most pundits. :bhogle

Uh-oh Nasser now talking about India's bowling attack,Shastri make your defence !

After the first innings I was hoping for an upset. Doesn't look very likely now. Such a disappointment. I really do wonder if there will be any upsets in this WC. Looks like the bigger teams are much more wary of the minnows this time.

England need 129 off 127,a couple of quick wickets would really drive up the RRR and cause some problems.

Poor shot.

Bell is actually not much of an ODI player, he's just a minnow basher in ODIs. This could suit him.

well done bukhari saab ..
i can bet u didn't plan that bowl u excellent thrower :D

I want to see Colly bat. Let's see if he really is back in form or not. He is still such an important player for us in ODIs (batting, bowling and fielding-wise)

oh no Strauss out :(

Come on Bell. Give us at least one good innings since your comeback to ODI cricket.

It would be amazing if Netherlands UPSET the England team. :D They've done it in t20 2009, can they do it now??

Mudassar Bukhari, the Dutch seamer was born in Gujrat,Punjab in Pakistan ;-)

stick to T20 in that case :)

There's a serious point to be made here. The future of the World Cup and possibly even ODI cricket as a whole is dubious. The middle overs are one of the reasons for this.

Do you wanna see boom boom bash bash in the middle overs as well?

ODI is a mix of T20 and test cricket...

If Trott goes, England will be favourites. He also made a hundred when England lost to BD iirc lolz.

It will be a tight finish, Netherlands won the tight finish in t20 let's hope they do it again

a 94. but yes, hard to tell whether or not his continued presence at the crease is a good thing or not :D

There r quite few Pakistani origin bowlers playing in teams like Eng, Canada, Netherlands etc.. good stuff

Trott holds the key. If he goes, England could well crumble.
Or the key for Netherlands, if he repeats his Bangladesh heroics and refuses to accelerate to chase a score.

This is the time for Holland, make another one slip.

Key moments of the game coming up...

at least we are seeing a proper contest of bat and bowl for the 1st time in this tournament
