What's new

England vs Pakistan | 3rd ODI | Bristol | May 14th, 2019 | Pakistan Innings

And that boys and girls is commitment. Imam sees Willey fielding decently, he makes the dive.

I said this the last match and i’ll say it again.

Sarfraz needs to work on his running.
In the previous games he took singles where he could’ve taken twos.

He is definitely needed for this side, he fulfills his role perfectly.

Big headache. Hafeez's return is imminent (whether we like it or not).

So the question is: how to fit Imam, Haris, Hafeez and Asif in the same XI?

Shadab over Imad because of superior bowling.

It’s going to be between Hafeez, Asif and Shoaib.

Imam and Haris are going to be in the XI.

I honestly believe Imam could become the best batsmen the country has ever seen and people will still profusely dislike him.

He has done more than enough to deserve a spot on the squad.

Akmal
Amin
Maqsood
Shehzad
Farhat
Hameed

All come and gone, all worse than Imam, some of them much worse, and yet here he is, getting trashed on no matter what he does, just because of his name.

Agreed. I have mentioned multiple times that he has already in terms of centuries from Pakistani openers he is just behind Saeed, Ramiz, Salman Butt and Ahmed Shehzad and that too in just 27 matches. Just needs to work on pacing his innings to be an impact player but as you have mentioned he has already done more than most of our openers in history.

Well deserved 50 for Imam and even showing Haris how to dive to avoid run outs!

It's crazy that Imam's strike rate is still so high despite the fact he's only hit like one 4 in the last 20 overs or so.

Imad wasim is more valuable than Asif Ali

Knowing England even if they were 3 down at this stage they would have been going at over 6 an over with ease, that is why having bowlers who can bat comes in so handy.

It his overall SR which is the concern.

Yes it is but we have to realize other than Saeed and now maybe Fakhar we have never produced openers who can create impact in LOIs. Imam is 23 so we can only hope he learns to manage the pace of the innings.

Say whatever about Imam he got heart and commitment, needs to back him up.

So much praise for the best batsmen and they are back in dressing room sipping tea. Pathetic that after so long harry and Babar don’t realize how muchtheir wicket is worth

4 bowlers is not an option for the WC.

Only one of Asif and Hafeez will play I think.

Oh boohoo, that is his role.

I think we can both criticize and say his spot is not in jeopardy.

He needs to not get hundreds at less than a 100 SR and turn up the speed when the innings calls for it.

Sub-300 is not a winnable total anymore.

This is the same criticism I would give to Babar as well.

Don't see them dropping Imad- means we would be playing with four front line bowlers.

Will he be available for any of the remaining matches against Eng?

Unclear:

The leg-spinner will now leave for London on Thursday, 16 May, where he will consult Dr Patrick Kennedy on Friday, 17 May, before joining the team in Bristol on Monday, 20 May.

However, Shadab’s appearances in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 warm-up matches, scheduled for 24 and 26 May against Afghanistan and Bangladesh respectively, are subject to his fitness and the team management’s decision.

Runs at the board matters at this point, our best batsmen not able to put runs on board and we are concerned about SR.. great

Not saying about now but in general his SR is 77-79 in his ODI career so far, that I think what most people go on about when it comes to Imam.

I can never understand why Sarfaraz himself for last two years down the order when he clearly looks much more comfortable batting at no 5 in ODIs.

Thanks.

Because Hafeez and Malik...

It's not a question of whether we like Hafeez in the team or not . . the fact is, we need him right now! this batting line up is too thin . . and unfortunately, there is no way you can fit in Asif Ali with Imad and Shadab both playing . . you dont wanna go in with 4 regular bowlers only

I'm quite happy that finally team Management showed some balls and coach dropped Hafeez and Malik despite both of them being available

No 6 as of yet for Pakistan. We only have three hitters in the squad: Fakhar, Asif Ali and Imad Wasim.

In general also Baber and Harris not delivering consistently. Let Imam play however he is least he is scoring runs and not embarrassing the team

Its funny how some people only post when Imam is failing and stop posting completely when he is doing a good job.

We the team wants Imam and Haris both. Malik's chances are 0 then.

Only one of Hafeez and Asif will play. It really depends on team Management what's in their mind.

Really hope that's true but do you not think their media friends would be kicking up more of a fuss if that was the case?

Because Hafeez and Malik...

Thats why I am not a fan of this team management. Hafeez can clearly hit the bowl well and is more potent at no 6 than Sarfaraz will ever be and Sarfaraz can do the same role which Hafeez does in the middle overs decently. So its basic common sense to give positions to the batsmen where overall team combination becomes stronger.

While for Malik he can only play if he is better than Haris at no 4 which he is clearly not with declining reflexes.

Spin back on. Pakistan wins that little battle.

Great consistency shown by Imam on this tour . The more he scores the more his haters will get fuelled up .

Pakistan have always been a weak batting line up . If we now have some one who averages 55 at SR of 80!he should be respected .

Also guess what he is just not doing it against the minnows!

A very good base being set for the the rest to boost us to a good total.
