Time running out for Pakistan to experiment - do they have a final squad in mind?

I would be very happy to see Pakistan give a chance to Abid Ali, Hafeez and Malik to get them going in England.

Also the fielding needs a LOT of work so hope there is a plan in place for the next game!
 
Pakistan are extremely lucky that Trent Bridge game will be rained off.

Otherwise 450 was on the cards.

I don't think they will give Abid a chance because if he will perform, that will complicate matters even more and they would have to leave Shoaib Malik out of the 15, which they wouldn't even think of. Let's see what happens.

Sarfraz did say Mohammad Amir will play this match. I hope it's true, but looks extremely difficult as of now.

Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Hafeez should get their chances now, don't know about Shoaib Malik, who can he replace?

Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi need rest after that kind of hammerings, shouldn't play anymore games.

Faheem Ashraf should be sent back to Pakistan before 23rd May.

Malik must come in for Imad. Amir should come in for Shaheen. Hafeez should come in for Haris.

As much as I would love to see Abid Ali get a chance, Imam scoring a century in the last game has confirmed Abid won't be getting a chance to prove his worth.

Let's just hope and pray that the think tank doesn't give Yasir Shah another go!

Pakistan will play our first two WC games on this ground vs WI & England.

A win here could be good boost for the initial WC games.

Why not play Abid in place of Fakhar in at least one of the next two games? Fakhar will have the practice games to get into his grove.

I predicted 3-1 to England. Perhaps Pak will win last game.
I think Abid Ali and Fahim A will be sent back to Pak. Junaid did not bowl too bad considering the flat wicket and England power batting.
 
Unfortunately abid wont play it seems. Pak camp would try to secure the series atleast and will play their strongest 11. Hasnain may come instead of faheem as faheem is useless in all aspects of the game.

In hindsight i am sure none of the players are interested in playing at the moment. They are all happy with individual milestones and the team reeks of mediocry. Score 350 above and tell tales to your grand children for the rest of your lives. SarfaraZ cannot inspire this bunch that is for sure as he is a ltd player himself
 
Hassan and Shaheen need some rest after the beating they got, to regain the confidence.

Management won't try Abid, if he scores it will be a headache to them. They're planning to replace A Ali with another A Ali.

Faheem should be dropped from the WC squad for Amir.

Hafeez should get a game

Hafeez and Haris combined should bowl 10 overs.
 
we need our spinners..who came out with this brainless idea that we need all these seamers? its stupid..the asian teams should be chomping at the bit to play in these conditions!! We need Hafeez and shadab in the team, drop faheem and imad wasim. They are both bakwaas..open the bowling with Hasan ali and Hafeez..get haris to bowl a few too..we still have time to get the bowling combination right..and once it clicks we will be deadly..

but it needs to click soon or we will be at the bottom of the table..(we probably will be anyway but hey)
 
The West Indies bounced back bundling out England for a meagre 113 after letting England chase down their 360 odd in an earlier match in the recently concluded series.
 
Trent Bridge is one of the best batting grounds in the world.
Another phainta on the cards unless we do something miraculous.Low hopes though.

In terms of batting,really really want Babar to get a big one.He needs that confidence for the worldcup.

Silly way of looking at it. These games are worth their weight in gold both for practice and working out which of the players are going to be able to handle tough competition.

I'm not bothered if we get another drubbing, these players need to learn what it means to play at this level. But it will all be useless if some of the fringe players aren't given a chance to show what they can do. Abid Ali and Hafeez need run outs. Malik should just get on the next plane home, no idea what he was doing here.
 
This is a 500 track if England bat first.

Roy and Bairstow will fancy a chance to score a double ton (each)

England have been merciful enough to bench Butler. Will they show any more mercy? I am unsure
 
Guys according to Morgan in his interview the next two matches will be on seaming tracks so england can practice not sure how that is going to be possible
 
Nothing will change. Our bowlers are rubbish with no plans and the pitches are bad for bowlers. The recipe isn't looking good.

Quite easily possible. Nottingham is one of the truest surface in world with even but high bounce & carry. Ball comes on to bat nicely but naturally swings there - if groundsmen cuts the grass to maximum and use heavy roller, under sun it’ll be one of the best batting wickets - add to that short squire boundary and lightning fast out field, it’s a 400 per track.

Keep two levels of grass (10-12 mm), on that same ground ball will seem with natural swing .... add to that a gloomy day - PAK might not last 50 overs!!!!

More or less 180 degree from Abu Dhabi ......
 
another 350+ maybe even 400? if england batted first. 3-0 with another game to go. Pakistan cnt even beat afghanistan with this bowling attack on these pitches let alone they gonna beat england lol. good luck to pakistan batsman hopefully they will provide some joy to their fans
 
Dunno why selectors keep persisting with Faheem....do they think he is klusener or symonds or stokes....i guess for next odi - hasnain will be in, possibly malik or even professor sahab...
all said and done, by playing this 5 match series pak have put themselves in the best possible position to gauge the conditions...definately better than the other teams who will be coming in off the cold....

This is the second time a non UK resident has predicted a match will be rained off. Quite bizzare considering the weather reports are saying no rain. These users must be checking the weather on some random weather site influenced by solar winds or something.

Not looking forward to the bore run-fest again. First time for a long time I'll choose to be skipping the game and doing something else.
 
Maybe in a minority here. But I have enjoyed Pakistan’s cricket for the few Odis including the game against Australia. That we are beginning to put up 300+ figures with consistency is amazing. Yes the bowling is faltering but I do think that’s easier to fix than batting, for Pakistan
 
We can't bat on green top we cant defend 350+ on highways what are we good at :133:

There wont be any low and slow skiddy wickets like the one in Emirates we have to adapt quickly
 
Should play Abid and Malik.
Aamir apparently not ready still - playing on pitch where you got plastered for 400+ runs can often make bowlers "not yet ready"
 
I'd rather watch us lose a match, lose in the world cup, lose against India than to watch the butchery of cricket on these pitches. Complete mutilation of the game I love

Imad and Faheem should be dropped. Malik and Hafeez should be brought in. I would love to see Abid get a game but don't see it happening. Imam, Zaman and Babar are locked in for the top 3 positions.
 
it doesnt matter what the team selection is .
what matters is the execution.
There is something called death bowling. i.e those stratetegies that are normally applied in the last 10 overs of an ODI.
unfortunately with the conditions not suited to bowling of any type, the only way to defend 350. is to start death bowling from the first over onwards

just bowl yorkers. yorkers yorkers and more yorkers.
pick an extra bowler as yorker bowling is tiring work
bowl wide yorkers, and sometimes, aim for the stumps.
thats it. no slower balls or bouncers .

and if if it reverses, that would be just great.

agreed. fixing the bowling is much easier to do so.

klusener didn't become klusener in a day. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. If pak could persist with 5'2'' bilawal bhatti & 70 mph anwar ali, surely they could stick with faheem ashraf.

No one can fault his commitment, the guy tried his best. Why is medium-trundler hassan ali beyond reproach? when you're talking 'bout sending shoaib malik & faheem home?

Woh UAE wala asia cup bhool gayo kya? In slow desert decks, neither did you play Nawaz nor did you pick Mohammad Hafeez.

Oh! I forgot. Pakistan has a reputation of shooting themselves on the foot with their "selection" policy.

Mohammad Rizwan & Usman Shinwari can't buy a ticket for the world cup despite working their butts off. Yet hair-models with belly rolls are grazing around the cricket field.

yes Faheem had a bad outing but he gives pak options, he is neither a one-trick-slogger/blocker nor a free-loader.

Sarfraz needs to play as low as possible, proven himself to be useless in the top 6.
 
Our toothless attack looks incapable of taking wickets at the moment. Would rather lose then depend on rain saving us here so we know where we stand and any changes that need to be made. It is the WC where I pray the clouds open up if we are performing poorly. One win and we'll be on a roll here lads. That is the kinda team we are so walk on with hope in your heart:klopp

Sarfraz has been batting well so far in the series. It was his partnership with Imam that help Pak toward 350. Strike rate did not matter at that stage with hitters to come and plenty overs left.

Performances of bowlers/batsmen have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Bowlers are not as bad as they were made to look, batsmen are not as good as they were made to look.
 
People talking about 500 runs possibly being scored in an innings. RIP to bat-ball balance.
 
Looks like Amir may not play tomorrow so they hopefully go with Afridi/Junaid/Hasan/Hassnain as the bowling attack along with Imad and try to restrict England as much as possible.

At this point, they should strongly consider going with Hasan and Afridi as the opening bowlers to pick up early wickets, something which Pakistan have really been struggling to do for the last 10-15 ODI's.

Well Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti just played 38 and 21 intl games respectively before they were shown the door. Faheem has already played 53 intl games for 425 runs and 55 wickets. So yes Pakistan have stuck with him for longer than the other 2. Klusner did not take 53 games to stamp his authority in world cricket.

That's a good idea. But to me it seems like team management wants Imam and Zaman out there opening every single game so they get as much match practice as possible.
 
Its a batting shoot out , and no doubt Poms batting is really heavy , very difficult to out bat them. Pakistan missing genuine spinners , they would have troubled English batters.
 
Reports are coming that management has given rest to harris and asif for the rest of two Odis.
And fahim will be dropped.
So, hafeez ,malik and hasnain will feature

Hafeez and malik both play that means asif haris sit out. We are gonna lose this
