1. Ajmal is a terrific bowler but calling Swann over hyped just because Ajmal is a better bowler shows your stupidity. So according to you there's only one good batsman and one good bowler and every others were over hyped?

2. May be if you don't know, a cricket ball swings a lot in England and spins a lot in SC and there's a particular reason for that which you should know. Swann spun the ball a lot when he played in UAE and SL.

1. Swann's called the best in the world. If someone's better than him, this is over-hyping.

2. Swann was spinning it in England when he was playing us in 2010 and even produced this gem.

Swann has clearly been the best off spinner in 2009-10. Ajmal has overtaken him now but he's still the second or even third best spinner right now.

Gul has been poor in ODIs for the past 12 months but that doesnt mean he's an over hyped bowler. He's still a very good bowler who lost his touch a bit.

To be fair Bell scored more runs than the top 4 put together.

Bairstow! Yorkshire! Etc.

Decent comeback from England overall. Game has the makings of a classic.

England scrapping and never looking in control of the game. Good debut for Bairstow though. Been asleep for the most of this. Was our top-order as brainless as the scorecard implies?

Yes, Cook's dismissal was something even Brain fart Akmal would have left.. in the middle of his brain fart.

Are people forgetting Bairstows innings against India on his debut? The guy can hit the ball a long way, he is batting within himself till

Bairstow getting ovation. Well played.
A good knock against quality attack in tough conditions, may give him confidence that he belongs to this level and help come of the age quickly.

Honestly, condition wasn't tough. He might be under pressure as it's his only 4th test. I will say it's almost even steven at the moment. SA slightly ahead as they got 5 wickets on fairly decent surface and condition.

England need BIG partnership and tail to wag like SA's tail did. Even 50 runs lead might turn out to be vital, as SA can declare faster after 2nd inning.

SA still bowls lots of deliveries on a shorter side. I still think most wickets you get from bowling full and force batsman to drive! Pitch is not pacy enough for batsman to get surprised every time they bowl a short one.

I don't think you will hear the words south africa and declare anytime in this test.

May be not, as they will be happily to get a draw here and win a series. And that shouldn't such a bad thing imo.

Hypothetical scenario would be all out England asap get 50 runs lead by lunch or not gain more than 50 runs lead. Bat after lunch. Bat till 70 overs on 4th day. Get 350+ lead. Declare with 15 over or so left on 4th day. Bowl awkward 10 overs against under pressure openers. And have a chance of a win.

From England's perspective, just bat your heart out. Try your level best to get 100 runs lead. And force under pressure SA to collapse again.

but the match situation when he came to bat is bit difficult [50/4]

add to that KP supporters waiting for him to fail :iqasim

under these circumstances , against this attack its a good innings...but if he continued tom-marrow and get a lead it will definitely a great innings

I wouldn't mind England choosing Bairstrow and Taylor over KP at all for their upcoming tour by considering performance in this test.

I am not denying his good batting at all. Just saying, condition to bat was no where threatening.

Looks like this will become a 1 inns shoot out, like at headingly. If thats the case again it will be interesting to see S.As approach in 2nd inns of the game and wether they are looking to try and win series 2-0 or 1-0.

Another excellent days test cricket. SA were on fire but a great battling partnership by Bell and Johnny B to save England.

The pitch is now excellent for batting. England need to get past SA as much as possible because there is a good chance SA will rack up a huge second innings score on this track.

We cant just take batting conditions alone in such a situations...also Morkel bowled superbly...

As for as KP comes back or not...really doesnt matter u cant depend on single player
