How many of you guys rock a beard/thick stubble? Mine has really started to grow out in the last 12 months or so, for which I'm really glad.

The past 3 years or so, I was at that weird stage where you could say most of my facial hair was on the neck. It was too patchy and light on the cheeks, but recently it has almost completely filled out. Being clean shaved isn't really an option for me, because unfortunately I have a pretty weak chin/jawline but the fully developed beard has now successfully masked this deficiency to a good degree.

So what are your facial hair stories? Does anyone (below the age of 30) go clean shaved anymore if you can grow a beard? Anyone dare to rock just a moustache?

Only recently have not shaved for more than a month, month and a half. Think this is my longest streak of not shaving. Allround my beard growth is good Mash'Allah, but just near the chin the beard doesn't connect, but I'm hoping it will get long enough that the area will be covered anyway.

Trying to grow my hair out as well for a winter like look. Desi lumberjack maybe :amla

But yeah most of my life post puberty I've stayed clean shaven as beard made me look older personally, but new people I met still almost always rightly guessed my age with or w/o facial hair.

I have Mexican style facial hair, very patchy and uneven, so I shave it off otherwise I look like a chulo. Right now that's what I look like cause I haven't shaved for 3 straight days cause of finals, I might try to let it grow to see if I can grow a full beard but my employer wouldn't allow that.

If you haven't touched it all for a month, I'd say learn to do a neckline. It'll lift your beard game up to a different level, it goes from looking lazy to sharp and even professional. Personally, I leave the cheek line natural. I don't like the straight edged lined cheeks, but I guess some guys do.

About the chin, do you mean the soul patch doesn't connect to the chin? I have the same issue, I think that's pretty much genetic. Fortunately, I don't think it's that big of an issue.

Where do you work? I think the clean shaved culture has changed here in the UK now. A lot of my friends who work in consultancies, sales and general client facing roles have no problem with their beards. Up until a few years ago, it was generally expected for you to be clean shaven.

In the states bruh , we're required to shave unless I can grow a glorious beard then they'd let me keep it. They'd never let me keep cholo style facial hair, makes me look like a Hispanic gangster.

Yeah that's what I did for the neckline a week back for a presentation. I started to look like a bear, so had to trim a bit.

Soulpatch connects, I can grow a Van Dyk style beard no problem, it's the "mutton chops" I guess from either side, they don't connect with my moustache or my chin hair.

It looked odd at the start, but now it's ok I guess. Still, IIRC if you have patches where facial hair don't grow, you shouldn't really worry about it if you're in your late teens or even early to mid 20s. There's a decent chance, esp if you're brown, that they will grow out in those areas by your late 20s.

Yeah your facial hair gets thicker and fuller as you get older especially for us brown folk, I'm 21 and can't grow a full beard yet but all the men in my fam can so I got some hope....

I grew a beard for quite some time, but people started to believe I was much older for my age, as Suleiman mentioned earlier. Heck, once I was using an Uber and one of the drivers thought I kids. Sure, I may look a little older for my age with or without the beard, but really? Old enough to look like I have kids? That was a too far, so I ended shaving later that week and since then I'm going clean shaven.

As far as my preference goes, a beard is far more easy on the face and there's clearly more you can do with it. However, for the time being, I'll go with the clean shave, but I really enjoyed the beard and may go back to it for the tennis season.

I work in a professional setting with many client meetings and presentations therefore cannot afford to have a rowdy beard.

Unfortunately I have to shave every other day. Although I look best with a three day old stubble.

Never go clean shaven unless I mess up trimming my beard.

Will most likely never keep only a mustache.

I feel bad for the people who can't keep beard b/c of their jobs. I hope that never happens to me. If it does, then I will try to shape it up real nice.

Beards have many benefits.

I look like a little kid when I shave, so I try not to.

That is the very reason I've removed all my facial hair. Look like a school boy again, going clean shaven makes you look ten years younger. Facial hair is just a trend at the moment that like any will expire sooner or later.

I keep a beard during the winter.

Funny how people start treating you like a boss when you have a full thick beard :misbah3

Fun fact - Facial hair for men grow and keep developing till much later in life unlike the rest of our body. Many people develop thicker facial hair in late 30s and 40s and facial hair keeps increasing till 50s for some. So teenagers and early twenty men should not give up so easily or despair

Also, another tip, if you really want to check beard growth, let it grow for month, month and a half. In a couple of weeks beard might look patchy but if you let it grow, you will see that the gaps disappear. Most people try not shaving for a week and give up.

Finally, a groomed beard will look much better than a wild one. So unless you grow over a month and then get it in shape and groom it, you will not know if a beard looks good on you. Would suggest a good salon than trying it yourself to get the neat lines and shape

So in summary. Give it time to grow as you mature. Grow your beard for a couple of months. Go to a barber to get the groomed look. Enjoy the attention of the ladies

I'm working on a stubble. I also used to avoid it due to client interface and meetings with c-level execs. But I have moved up the hierarchy enough for my firm to not care.

Thanks a lot for your post.

I was actually really worried with my facial hair because I am almost 18 yet I haven't got proper thick facial hair while most of my friends who are younger than me are sporting Wolverine-esque beards. I always wished to have a short beard ala Kohli but thick hair has grown in every area of my body except my face which is so weird.

Grew a big beard in my early thirties. It was a hit with the ladies as I looked tougher. Since then it has gone grey and I have chopped it back to a goatee, else I would look like Santa.

I have in abundance. And i have not shaved for good 7-8 months after warts had appeared on and around my face.
Now i watch my previous shaven photos and question myself that why i did not have this beard earlier.

sport a proper shadow. my barber lines me up every saturday and I keep it trimmed around 1/2 taper at most. It's pretty professional

Got a 2-3 inch beard (not mullah one). Looks awesome and I use all kinds of beard products like beard oil so it stays fresh, soft, and smells great. Before i use to have a half an inch beard which was good too, but I wanted to keep a longer one for the winter. Long beard with a 0-0.5 fade undercut is amazing :D

Honestly keeping a beard is too much work and such high maintenance. I get out of the shower, the skin is already hot, the five blade razor just smoothly glides through and I get a nice clean shave.

Clean shave is the way to go for me, even though people mistake me for being 18-19, although I'm 25.

These days a lot of guys are using Rogaine or Minoxdil for thick beard growth, never tried it but have seen people get great results on youtube. I've heard many celebrities use minoxdil to thicken their beard.

I find it very easy to handle. I don't have to cut it daily. Just a little trimming on the edges after couple of days and a visit to barber every 8-10 days.

Keep the clean shave look and try again after 25.

I did this trying to mimic Kohli bhai's beard. It destroyed my skin and it took over a week to recover. :kohli2

I like to keep beard , my wife doesn't like it. As usual Wife wins.

Clean shave makes a man look much younger so is the way to go, no pimples to worry about under the hair. This is why Imran Khan looks much younger then his age. Facial hair makes a man look ten years more then what he is, this moustache with or without the beard trend will die out just like the stud one did. Be original, following celebrities or the current trend is never the way to go.

If she doesn't like it then I can promise you 100% that you look better with beard, she doesn't want other women being attracted to you. That's how it works, female psychology. She also don't want you to cave in all the time, she's testing you, women keep doing it till their grave, trust me.

What utter nonsense. My wife's suggestions changed my entire wardrobe and made me look cooler and more stylish. I fund it extremely funny how people not in relationships always comment about the other gender in generic terms instead of as individuals. Yes all 3 billion women all think the same way as they are robots
