Fakhar Zaman's brilliant 193 in vain as South Africa [341/6] defeat Pakistan [324/9] by 17 runs

SA has just lot two matches in Pink ball match, one against Pak and other against Eng. Interesting.
 
I genuinely don't understand what type of batter Shadab is. He is not a boundary hitter, he doesn't really rotate strike. Everyone says move him up the order, what for?

Yes the World Cup performance was not good enough . But that was because they had too many players who were past it.

Lol 30s, they have 3/4 years in them. Kyle Verreynne, Aiden Markham,JP Malan,and Zubayr Hamza are also good players.

Look just because they are not named AB DE Villiers it doesn't mean they aren't good enough.

Shadab stokes gone ? Such a bad move to have him in top 6. Mind boggling really.
I always thought Pakistan fans complain more about selection and team combination rather than players skills. But now i get it somewhat. You need to find specific roles for players and back them.
Shadab ain't a top 6 batter in any form of the game.
 
Shadab can be potentially benched for the third ODI. Yes SA isnt and easy place for spinners but, bowling in middle overs havent been good and batting in ODIs doesnt really provide much dimensions currently.

If Shadab Khan's primary skill is batting as someone above said, then there's something seriously wrong with the Pakistani think-tank....

Imagine the meltdown if Imam had played the innings the “aggressive” Fakhar has played today.
 
A guy like Surya Yadav had to toil in domestics year after year, perform in IPL year after year to become a bench player for the national side . Pakistan surely has more resources and options than distributing caps to anyone and everyone.

Nah, he is a bowling all rounder as he himself said. However, he hasnt created any impact in both facets of the game so far on this tour.

I am predicting it now, Asif Ali to score 200 off 60 balls and take Pakistan home. Next he will become captain of all 3 formats and become the first batsman to break the 300 run barrier in ODI's.

We all need to understand the genius of Misbah Ul Haq, he is the only one that sees the real potential in the GOAT Asif
 
No player from any other team would have reviewed that LBW which Shadab did . It was an extremely selfish decision by Shadab.

And, why was he sent ahead of a proper batsman Asif ?

Pakistani team management trying to create something out of Shadab which he is not. He is NOT an ATG all rounder, rather just an ordinary domestic level player.
 
One of them has to go for it. There is no point blocking the match away. the problem is both their spots are on the line and if they fail they're out the team so noones willing to take the risk ughh
 
Rameez saying Pakistan batsmen don’t play pace like Nortje and Rabada everyday. I thought Pakistan had multiple 150k pacers in every domestic team.

Rambo finally speaking some sense. There's not a single domestic pitch in Pakistan that produces as much bounce as the Wanderers so cannot be surprised to see them look like headless chickens here.

Even though Shadab might be an average spinner, benefit of doubt here, SENA spinners usually outperform SC spinners in their own conditions these days.

It took Ashwin 2 tours to finally get it right in Australia.
 
Called Shadab out for being a fraud years ago and got criticized. People are finally seeing it now.

As I said, they are a decent mid ranked team but since my start of watching cricket, the South African team has been worst over last three years and their is not much sign of improvement. What they do have or are building up is unpredictability like Pakistan has.

There are some good players but bar QDk and Rabada, none of them have elite level ceiling. It is same as Pakistan who have Babar and Shaheen and Van der dussen is same as Rizwan.

Replacing players like AB,Smith,and Kallis won't happen over night.
 
Is Asif better at pace or spin? If he is good aginst spin then he should go after Shamsi.
 
Asif needs to get on with what he knows. He has got enough opportunities to show his what he can do at international level and its another one.

He was always like that. Powerful striker and great hand-eye but looks very unconvincing and inelegant.

Not sure what special changes one can see in a Fakhar Zaman technique :))
 
This is brilliant batting now by Fakhar. Just wish he would have started accelerating in the previous partnership, when we had more batsmen in the tank.

Pollock is always good. Less nonsense and more analysis.
 
Pak at the moment is 25-35 runs short and lost 2-3 wickets too many
 
should he just have gotten out?His whole career is one the line playing slowly was expected since pak was in no position to win.But if he does miracously stay till end Pak might have a chance
 
Fakhar has worked on his game for sure

I remember he was so bad against short ball that either hit his head or top edge

They are bowling him 3-4 short balls every over, being an international player, he will connect one eventually.
 
Need that 50 ball 100 from Asif Ali which every coach and selector has been expecting for 2-3 years now.
 
I have to appreciate patience and hope level of people who still think we can win this.
 
This is an absolute dream of a wicket to bat on.

Pak top4 just had to play Nortje sensibly and they had good chance of hunting this down.

Babar and Rizwan played pathetic shots.
 
Fakhar approach is decent he was more than a run a ball when him and Babar was in but has had to reign himself in after .

It’s a 50 over game so if the game needs to be taken deep then we need partnerships.
