Fakhar Zaman's brilliant 193 in vain as South Africa [341/6] defeat Pakistan [324/9] by 17 runs

The team needs Akmal Haider Imad and Haris/Hafeez to strengthen the middle order currently we’re close to minnow level luckily scraped over the line in the first match.
 
Before lunch time, I posted in SA batting thread that today is Zaman's day.
 
Need to replace misbah with me at least I would've played haider at 5. Has hus deficiencies but is light years ahead of asif and danisj
 
Asif has looked a domestic bully. Enough chances given, he should be dropped. Unfair on other players who are also performing.
 
To even have some minute chance Fakhar will have to score more than 200 here unless Shaheen can chip on.
 
Getting a 150+ score here will do wonders for Fakhar's confidence. Pakiatan have a good top four. They just need to find a proper #5 and a finisher at #6, who can bowl a bit, and its a world cup winning team.

Fakhar played a similar kind of last man standing knock in vs Eng in Eng as well but wasn’t enough.

Is it all legside slogs with Zaman or what? He's apparently dragging them from way outside off.
 
Shamsi has been brought down to earth by Fakhar today. He was the next coming of Warne in last T20 series

When you are chasing 330+, you cannot afford to have a SR in the 60s for the first half of your innings because 99/100 times, you will not be able to salvage it later in the innings no matter how hard you throw your bat around.

Fakhar’s late onslaught will achieve nothing for Pakistan because the match was lost during the Fakhar-Shadab and Fakhar-Asif partnerships.

His batting between the 10th and 30th overs was completely ridiculous. He was only interested in staying at the wicket to keep his place in the team instead of looking after the required run rate.

Pakistan could have actually made a real game out of this if he wasn’t blocking everything for 20 overs.

Nobody supported him based on the score we are chasing he’s played a very good innings enough with your hate and support for Imam who’s not good enough for international cricket.

Yes after being 120/5 the reason we lost the match is fakhar who's batting on 135.

Personally, I wouldn't have Rizwan as a top 4 batsmen. Haris or Saud should in that role, Rizwan at 5, Haider at 6.

Really harsh on Fakhar here. Look I get you're an Imam fan and your main man has been poor in this series so far.

Fakhar was striking it above run a ball until South Africa took a quick 3-4 wickets. He had to play himself in that situation.


Imam can only dream of playing a "useless innings" like the one we've just seen from Fakhar.

Imam and Fakhar are different kinds of batsmen , both can be in the XI , if they work on their weakness.

I guess pretty much thats it and both of them are technically not the best unless we want to consider Rizwan with his recent development. On the other hand Imam is one of the few openers who can play some quality new ball bowling on his day as some other openers are technically well equipped.

It would be ideal for Pak if both openers can push the game when set but at the moment its a not really a clear scenario with none being a perfect option.

Imam can only dream to score a 150+ knock at strike rate in excess of 120.
 
Win or lose, this has been brilliant from Fakhar.

Some of his team-mates should be ashamed.
 
Special knock this from Fakhar...may not win but will give him some much needed confidence and self-belief which was missing in the last 2 years
 
Forget Imam, even Babar isn't capable of playing this type of knock.
 
Fakhar has hit 10 sixes in this innings , if he hits two more he will break Afridi record of 11 sixes
 
Its too much for Fakhar alone. Hassan Ali would have been handy here
 
There is no place for Imam in this team. Pakistan should play their best batsman at top to begin with. Rizwan and Babar both should be in top 3 alongside inconsistent but match winner Fakhar.
