Damn so many opportunities to score for both teams, Mexican goalkeeper, is doing a good job here

Something is not right in Mexican team - they are getting into fantastic positions in attacking 3rd, but midfield is more concerned for individual glory, attempting Hollywood shots instead of feeding Chichartio, who was in fantastic position few times.

I feel, there must be something unique in Pep's system, which is more of a Barca trademark and since he left, most other next Barca managers have adopted into that - Gerardo Martino left after a season, while his long-term deputy, Vilanova would have been still in charge, but for the disease.

There are too many players who look gem in Guardiola's team, but they are totally different player under other manager (s)/System. Messi, KDB, Pedro, Thiago, Bernardo Silva... had been outstanding in his system; but they didn't keep that promise in other clubs or National team. Alexis had couple of stunning season under him at Barca, in his early 20s, but never reached that level at Arsenal and at 29, he is likely to be benched by Mou at the start of next season

Latest in this list seems to be this kid Jesus - he had been nonexistent in this WC, after a stunning season with MCity. And, Low didn't pick Sane for Germany either, but he was the best forward for MCity's record breaking season.

Alexis played 1 season under Pep and he wasn't stunning in that season. His best season was his last 1 when Tato Martina was incharge.

May be, but still he was a different player at Barca.

Much better player at Arsenal than he was at Barcelona. Should have stayed. Doesn't seem to suit Manchster United.

He had his best 4 years at Arsenal from 25 to 28 when he was the main attacker, while at Barca he was developing in a star studded team - there has to be a difference. Also, Wenger's teams also adopt ball playing game which suited him. I think, instead of requiring the player Sanchez at MU, Morinho wanted him out of Arsenal more :)

This is a very interesting game. Both teams have a had half chances but Japan are holding their own against talented players. The Japanese are very fit, can run all day long.

Lakaku is working hard but cant get the better of the Japanese defenders.

Goals are due in the second half if they keep up this type of play.

Belgium starting to feel the pressure of being favourties here . Courtious mistake is a sign of that.

Need to step up in the 2nd half.

Japan is hanging there somehow.. also they're not afraid to attack... still Belgium is favorite.. And we'll beat them in quarter..

Yoshida is locking up Lukaku rn.

Belgium failing to hack the pressure again. All I hear is Messi,Pogba, and Ozil never do anything when it matters what have KDB and Hazard done in the champions league and big international tournaments?

Hazard has been pretty good in this tournament. KDB is playing mediocre.

Martinez will allow his team to play with freedom when it's going good that's fine. But when in situations like this it's big problems.

Against 2 rubbish teams. When it matters he's flopped.

No mention of Lukaku? He just missed a wide open goal. Hazard has been solid today. Has two shots on target. Meanwhile Lukaku has one shot which has been blocked.

And Belgium get a lucky goal.

Told you so :ronaldo

Brazil's tactics were spot on earlier. They played it perfectly - let Mexico throw what they could early in the match and then dominate and take control.

This Belgium versus Japan match is a cracker - fancy Belgium to win 3-2.

Yes I forgot about him. He flops when it matters too.

Hazard is 1 of my favourite players. I'm talking more in fusration then in hate of Chelsea.

Acha sorry :afridi1

I feel like the Belgian players are kinda lazy. Only play really well when under a lot of pressure. Otherwise they just chill.

The opposite imo. When they can play with freedom their unstopabble but when under pressure they have failed. This could give them the confidence.

Brazil vs Belgium has the potential to be a classic.

Poor Japan, they played their hearts out but come away with nothing.

Japan continued with the pace of play after going 2-0 up which allowed space for Belguim, poor tactics but hard to criticise them attempting to bury the game with one more goal.

Chadli was brilliant coming on for Belguim. Well done to them.

What you mean they were under immense pressure today. The 2-0 deficit woke them up.

Some people were saying that Japan didn't deserve to advance to knockouts.

WATCH THIS GAME.

Heartbreak for Japan.... What a game. I was siding with the underdogs throughout. They seemed to take it easy after going up 2-0

Great comeback from Belgium. Never thought they would anhilate Japan like this after being 0-2.

I didn't even know that Japan is such a good team. Their passing was brilliant. If only they were a bit taller. Belgium totally exploited that deficiency with their set pieces.

But the positive thing from today's game is that the QF will be a cracker of a match.

The speed and clinicality on the counter from Belgium was breathtaking.

Another brilliant game. Belgium stepped up and showed they can handle the pressure. Big test against Brazil.

Today but bigger tests to come. I wouldn't judge them under pressure off this performance as they have flopped under pressure in the last 2 tournaments.

That 3rd goal by Belgium should be shown to every single Spanish player.

The Belgians were physically very strong and easily pushed the Japanese around. If Asian teams can get bigger and stronger then they will be serious contenders to win a world cup.

A heart-breaker, a heart-stopper for Japan! Feel very, very sad for them. Although overall they fought well and can still be proud of their effort, but they only have themselves to blame for they made absolutely no, no use of their 2-0 lead. Perhaps they started to take Belgium lightly?

As for Belgium, despite not having the best day at the office, and they´ve a lot of improvements to make in their defence if they´re to stand a chance against Brazil, they still will take a tremendous amount of confidence from this game. What impressed me the most about them is the fact that in spite of being 0-2 behind, they never gave up. Their body language continued to look positive and they didn´t show glum faces or shaky legs. They stayed calm and focused. Other teams can learn a lot from them. It looked throughout as if they trusted their ability and the superiority to take over sooner or later. That first goal by them was a combination of luck but some mastery as well.

Another praise-worthy thing about the match itself was that neither teams engaged in defensive and negative play after the game stood at draw. Both looked keen to score the third goal.
