First ODI between England and Pakistan abandoned due to persistent rain

Those who know English cricket grounds know that the Oval is one of the flattest tracks in the country. Imam is currently 8 off 26

Babar needs to play like a man now, his 4 years in ODI cricket is completed.

He is no younger beauty or newbie

Bobby is hardly getting to face a ball.... how will he even get his eye in when parchee sahab is hogging the strike

I had just read the other day Pakistan being one of the favorites for WC. Not with Fakhar, Imam, Faheem, Asif. And these guys will never be dropped.

too much negativity here... First ODI boys need to find their feet have faith people:afridi

"One of the favourites for the WC"

They can't even get singles, which has been a problem for us for a decade now. Laughable really.

Fakhar failed in South Africa

And now this

33 at an average of 87 is mediocre and not failing.... that's better than Imam's overall record against Aus, Eng, Sa, Ind

Only a matter of smacking Archer few boundaries and he 'll be running away from the ground!!!! attack and disturb his line:amir3

No other team goes in to damage control after the fall of one wicket like Pakistan

Fakhars Career ODI Average: 51
Fakhars average since Aug 2018: 27

He really needs to use these 5 games to get his act together before the WC. Meanwhile, would be good to try Abid Ali out for a game or 2 VS Eng before the WC as well.

This really isn't damage control. Parchee ul Haq was batting like this even before Fakhar got out.

I must say. Our top order collapse has improved over the years. In Misbah's era we used to be 3 down in 5-6 overs quite often in these kind of games

9 from 27 - SR of 33.

Come one Iman at least rotate the strike!

Failed in first four matches and scored 50+ in last match where we lost.

Who seriously considers them a favourite for the world cup? They are ranked about 6th for ODis aren't they?

Those who are making premature predictions about Archer will come back to earth soon...Archer's pace will be nowhere seen in WC once he faceoff good batsmen.

Conditions play a part. Commentators just said the same thing.

Commies are always generous to the opposition. Watch Bairstow and Roy play with a proper approach to ODI cricket

Imam gets so much hate from keyboard worries.
England bowlers bowl with great discipline and control. It is very good from Imam to just stay at the crease

A green pitch is no excuse to score slow. Even on the roads of the UAE, Pakistan scored at a turtle’s pace.

Lack of strike rotation has been a problem for the last 15 years.

England will chase down whatever we put in 40 overs with their openers giving them a flying start

Any team would struggle under these conditions against Archer.. it’s wise to play safe.. we can still score 300 if we play out the first ten and not lose 3/4 wickets..

Bowlers are getting in their last overs of this spell. No sign of movement now. Imam has faced like 30 balls.

Hit It Imam. Score some boundaries now!

Fakhar is a bigger concern than Imam, who is not as bad as people make him to be. He is not great, but we are a rubbish team and incapable of producing elite openers.

He is the best we have at the moment. He can occupy the crease and score runs, but he does need to work on his SR.

On the other hand, Fakhar is a sitting duck unless he gets 2-3 lives. Imam has outperformed Fakhar since the latter’s minnow bashing in Zimbabwe last year.

Hit one boundary and block out 10 balls. That's Imam's batting strategy.

He has played 33 balls and scored 13 runs with 2 fours. Meaning 8 runs off 2 balls and 5 runs off 31 balls. Mashallah mein sadqay jawan aisay talent pe

Archer bowling on avg 91 mph...wish we had a young ld like this..will be fun to watch him in the WC

Those defending Imam's batting strategy, Bobby at the other end is playing on the same pitch and striking at 80 odd.

I dont consider my criticism as hate. I genuinely do not feel he would make the A team of countries such as England, India, South Africa, Australia, West Indies, New Zealand.

This shows you where he stands. Can you argue against this?

This Plunkett over is a God-send for Imam he can finally play a mediocre pacer

Pakistan will huff and puff their way to 260 feeling proud of themselves. England will chase that by the 43rd over

Looks like Plunkett will have to be the one to make way for Archer in the WC squad

Worst logic ever

You do realize we don't have many good openers. And almost everyone bats around 80 SR.

People will say Abid Ali. But he has played only 2 games. Scored 100 on his debut. But so did Imam.

Being ranked 6th doesn't mean jack to people that spout rubbish like that. They consider us winning the CT enough to be tagged as one of the favourites.

Funny thing is our management will be falling over each other in praising this batting performance by nephew.....
