First ODI between England and Pakistan abandoned due to persistent rain

Imam batting beautifully, making sure there is no collapse.

Imam and Babar the key.

You do realize we don't have many good openers. And almost everyone bats around 80 SR.

People will say Abid Ali. But he has played only 2 games. Scored 100 on his debut. But so did Imam.

There is a difference between scoring against SL and Aus.

Stokes in the attack time to up the scoring rate..

I dont consider my criticism as hate. I genuinely do not feel he would make the A team of countries such as England, India, South Africa, Australia, West Indies, New Zealand.

This shows you where he stands. Can you argue against this?

But he plays in a mediocre team of Pakistan not Australia India and England.

Who is better opener than Imam in Pakistan ?

There is a lot of talent in Pakistan, there must be someone better than Imam.

But hey as long as Chacha Inzi is there Imam will get selected.

Imam is sooo slow!!!!Fakhar can't survive by blocking. He has to be aggressive in order to score

England number 1 side in the world and their average rr in the first 10 overs is the highest. Pakistan are below Bangladesh in this.

Just wondering if he will maintain a SR of around 50 by the time he inevitably gets to his selfish 50....

This guy makes Shehzad look like a proper team man.... but but but "I'm automatic selection because of chachu"

These sort of innings would have worked if we had likes of razzaq moin etc at the death

We know because of whom

There is no excuse to bat this slow. This isn't a slow and low wicket, the ball is flying off the bat. Sure there was movement early on but this guy just can't play any strokes. All he does is charge down the ground after a while. I would rather open with Hafeez or Sarfraz or even Haris.

You think just because supposedly no one is better than Imam as an opener in the country, we should just continue with him and not try to improve?

There are probably better 'openers' in the domestic scene than players like Hales, Bairstow, Roy when it comes to numbers and consistent performances. That doesnt stop a creative coach like Bayliss to utilise the talent of his middle order, lower order batsmen who can attack the new ball to push up for the team.

Perhaps, but sadly it is negated by a lot of corruption, lack of decent coaches/pitches/infrastructure, bad management, self inflicted demise etc.

Imam is a gun batsman... If he gets out so are Pakistans hopes.

This is not a typical modern English ODI pitch. Enough movement off the seam here. Babar got out to a good nut. No shame in that.

Haris you were scoring centuries against Aus?

Can you do it too against England please?

Babar out!!!! Come on. How on earth we give wicket to hack like Plunkett

PAK seriously need to think of opening with Babar and Imam, dropping Fakhar at 3 or even may be at 6, pushing Haris at 3, Sarfraz at 4 and one of the buzurgs at 5.

This line up is not going to work.

Don't worry guys, Imam to channel his inner Bradman and get us a big hundred winning the match for Pakistan!

I would rather have Fakhar Zaman than Imam. At least, Fakhar plays aggressive cricket while Imam plays Test mode. Should try Abid Ali out in the next ODI.

Key to playing in england when its seaming is play tje ball late and close to the body but bobby did exactly the opposite

People fail to realize Babar is the best of a bad bunch....

Imam ul Haq is the second best..

The only way to describe our entire batting line up is pedestrian.

We thought we will cruise past an International side, this isn't Kent or Leicestershire

Babar is softie
He is just an inferior version of Amla
Always score soft runs and always failed when it matters the most

May be ,Imam will be the savior here . Will all these posters star praising him then ? :ht

He is not that bad

Why is a batsman who strikes at 70 playing in this era?
Shahzad used to strike at 70 and now Imam. Nothing has changed.

It's better if a batsmen is trying to score at a good click unselfishly so that team reaches a good total, rather than a batsman tuk tukking to a personal milestone with the team score going no where

You need players that try to average a strike rate of 95 every match these days. Pakistani batsmen play way to slow in fear of getting out early which is ironic because they still lose wickets even while playing defensive cricket.

He could score 5 hundred in these 5 matches it won't change the fact that he is a nepotistic selection only because chachu is chief selector.

Pak 48/2 after 13. This is awesome stuff by Pak ODI standards.

But you never criticise Sarfraz's batting. He's been beyond pathetic!

Imam doesnt even try to score, pathetic. Played and missed atleast 12-14 balls. Lucky to be there still. For all those that were happy Azhar Ali was dropped, now what do you have to say looking at who we replaced him with.

why? Do you think Imam would have made the team had his uncle not been the chief selector.

We need to open with Haris Sohail and Fakhar, stick with Fakhar hes not there for consistency hes there as a match winner that can utilize the powerplay
