I guess it was naive to think that the PSL would be free of controversy and free of fixing allegations and that Pakistani cricketers could be honest.
What did anyone expect when these T20 leagues are simply the cricket equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters, ie going from league to league, club to club, playing in matches where, certainly for most of them, winning or losing is meaningless since the vast majority of their earnings are based on contracts and appearance money.
For example, what meaning is there, for say, for the likes of Gayle playing for a team against a team containing, say, Sangakkara and then a few weeks later, on a different continent, playing in a different league for a different club, but with Sangakkara as his team mate,... and then a few weeks later, different continent, different league, different clubs .... and repeating this over and over again 5 or 6 times a year, only to start the cycle again the following year.
If winning or losing matches in these T20 leagues becomes meaningless for the "Superstars", then some of it is bound to rub off on the lower level players, and since not all of them can make the really big bucks, they become ripe pickings for bookies and blackmailers.
