When was the last time a local tournament a sell-out?

Lets face it, this will inject a new passion in cricket in our country - the only real tragedy is that it is just one game; If this was so doable, PSL guys should have kept group games for each of the team;

We could have flown between Dubai<->Pak without too much hassle; In IPL they fly around India all the time.

sell out or not I have seen stadiums to be quite close to full whenever T20 finals happen in Lahore or Rawalpindi. Even Faisalabad crowd made great in numbers during the T20 tournament. The FBT20 used to pull great crowds no doubt.

Faysal Bank T20 has sold out (or close to selling out) before as shown in the pictures above. That didn't stop it from being cheap in quality just like this PSL final is going to be.

No Hawk Eye, no Spider Cam, no foreign commentators. The batsman will hit the ball for four and the camera will be on the umpire. I feel bad for the millions watching on TV.

Think about this; hardly any chance of this match happening in Pakistan and people literally fighting for expensive tickets! Fact is people want to be part of the PSL experience.

Only issue is that security is a worry but apart from that, this final will be something to remember for many people.

I might be the minority but I think if properly managed PSL in Pakistan with only Pakistanis with proper teams like now, would garner tremendous attention.

Well said MIG bhai.

More people need to see how its already doing us so much benefit and the truth is, even if a couple of foreign players make it to Pakistan, it'll lead to at least a couple more coming in next year and from then on we can improve gradually.

Fans expect everything to happen overnight. This isn't a game. We haven't had cricket in almost a decade. It will take some tough times and measures for it to come back. - Its either now or never.

The problem is Sethi sahab is trying to force his way through it. The players are not coming, ok no problem, but even the commentators and broadcasters are not coming. This is why people are drawing comparison with the FBT20.

Remember it is not just the foreign players that has led to the awesome interest in PSL. It is the excellent broadcast quality, production effects and "professional" commentators.

I have attended many matches of FBt20 at qaddafi stadium over the years.final were full and semifinals were close to being full although all of them were free.
But PSL level is high.

People will buy tickets because of the hype. Basically PCB is riding on the hype. Once they actually see the final without big names they might get disappointing and not buy expensive tickets again next year because they will lose trust in PCB.

Let's all agree on one thing. PSL become a success because of big name foreign players. Otherwise what's the point of having the whole tournament in Dubai and only the final in Lahore. If you really believe Pakistani players can carry the PSL then why not have the entire tournament in Pakistan?

Look at Quetta. They will lose all their overseas players..

Before the blasts I supported the final in Lahore, but after several blasts it was extremely naive to think the overseas players will come. It kinda of ruins the tournament when a team loses all the big names before the final and team suddenly look different then what you have seen whole tournament.

I think PSL catches the publics imagination because there are only five teams with all top talent (well most of it) being involved.

So you have a competitive league where the talent pool is evenly distributed amongst the teams. If our domestic system mirrored this then I don't see why we can't have regular tourney in Pakistan..

I would congratulate Pakistan on hosting a successful tournament so far. I haven't been watching it as there is no broadcast in India but following it on cricinfo and the games have been entertaining.

Regarding the final being held in Pakistan, I'm in two minds about this. Obviously without the foreign players, commentators, cameramen etc... it is not the ideal thing but I also appreciate the fact that PCB is trying to bring international cricket back to Pakistan and hosting of such games will help in taking small steps towards that goal. This is one way to create confidence among other nations but the best way would be to get rid of the terrorism in Pakistan, obviously the PCB cannot control that but I hope and pray that peace prevails in Pakistan.

Wish the final is a successful one and hopefully next year some foreign players can also be a part of the finale.

No time to spread negativity and criticism now. That phase has passed. Just support it now and share as much positivity as you can.

That was free entry, this is cheapest ticket worth Rs 500.

Sold out is big thing shows how famous the brand has become. PCB allowed free entry in Previous T20 leagues so we cannot compare those leagues with PSL.

Stupid to compare this with the PSL final, as Runner Up pointed out, the entry was free in all these tournaments and we still saw empty seats in most games.

On the other hand, the ticket prices for the final were the highest we've ever seen in Pakistan cricket.

yep true
PSL is brand now
FBt20 wasnt a brand

And if anyone remeber the zimbabwe series was broadcast on HD and pcb can pull off. And the decision has already been made that final will be in Lahore so whats the point of whinging.

we need to get behind PCB and support them.
also now PSL is established even with fewer foriegners it will still have fan following. Take an example of BBL they have very few foreign players yet their stadiums are almost full. Becasue these leagues are totally different from your average domestic tournaments.

PCB will make more money with JUST the PSL final than it has made from all these local tournaments over the past 10 years COMBINED. In fact, I'm pretty sure it incurs losses every single time it tries to host one.

Just imagine having the entire PSL in Pakistan. Boy, would that be a success.. Pakistan is blessed to have lots of different cities with cricket-crazy populations. You could get a packed house every single game.
