:facepalm: Series win over england was due to bowling more so then our average batting. We have been found wanting in this Match V S.A

Even so i think we are a match for most sides in these conditions.

Yes you are Amjid- Pakistan is more than handful and a top drawer team @ UAE, but the OTT by MIGgy Saab calls for some trolling :D

Dont get to do that everyday!
 
You can't make any territory a fortress if you're unable to score triple figures.

I will refer to an earlier post of mine in this thread, where i mentioned about being humble and modest in victory.

Create these threads when we have won 10 or 15 tests on the trot, not after a few victories.

Seriously poor thread which is coming back to bite us in the backside now.

Seriously dont understand why people cannot be happy when we win? Why have we become such cowards that even good news is greeted with skepticism !

We are drawing a series with the Worlds No 1 team and YES they took a beating in Abu Dhabi

And yes we did not do well here.

That's all there is to it!

Fact is that Pakistan have a very good record in UAE and it still stands.

I am with you here Miggs, I understand why you made the thread as you already mentioned; Pak fans haven't had much glory in a long time and it feels good when the opposite happens. Nothing wrong with this thread and Pak has an amazing record here as they wiped ENG 3-0 India couldn't win the series against them at our house, that says something........

Not denying that at all, we were all very happy with the victory.

Its just that these type of threads come and bite us in the backside, when after 1 test we talk about having the oppo in our pockets.

Why do we go "over the top" when we win?

We also try to belittle the oppo, saying things like they don't have a clue against our bowlers or calling ppl like Steyn/Kallis a rubbish bowler/batsman, who only perform in their own country.

Steyn is a class bowler and every bowler or batsman has their off day. Same goes for Kallis.

Think of it as personality trait :)

I completely agree with you MiG even 1-1 is an achievement against #1 team and it's our right to celebrate whatever way we want because i remember hundred of threads were open to bash team Pakistan in every possible way after losing a match against Zimbabwe.

We are humans and human do have emotions!

Fair play, as long as you are prepared for the backlash when things turn upside down in the following game.

Btw to celebrate a victory in a modest fashion, you do not have to be a robot, just a rational person :)

Agree with Murphy, we should enjoy our victories but making us out as invincible in the UAE is just arrogance....that too when we are facing a team which has established itself as a credible no.1 team in the world, a team which by the way never lost a test when they last toured the UAE. Heck atleast wait until the series was over.

Why? My comments were based upon Pakistan's record in the UAE - Can you pls explain how that unbeaten record has been dented?

By being absolutely humiliated in this test so far.

Even on decent batting wickets, I can recall 4 under 100 scores. Hardly dominating.

First innings against England in Dubai 2012. We won that game and the series score read 3-0

Our bowling bailed us out. Hardly a dominating performance though.

A tough victory fought out till the end.

1st and 2nd innings vs Aus in Sharjah. Completely destroyed.

Look we are not the Worlds No 1 team - the onus is not on us to prove ourselves.

We have a great record in the UAE which i am very proud off. It has not been dented as a result of a drawn series, but i would have liked to see the two sides play a 3rd test match. But as murphy said, we should be humble when we win.

haha never thought that would happen, but i agree with you. When all these threads were being made i expected the worst :)). They don't call pakistan one of the most mercurial sides in the world for nothing, when we won the test i said to myself i will come to conclusions once the series was over.

MIGSY likes to say it like hes sees think and to be fair its not trolling, he doesnt hide when things come back to bite him on the bum.

At times he posts things to get abit of a debate going which is the fun reason we are here!

As a pak fan i will always be humble in victory and optimistic in defeat.

The way we won the 1st test i don't see how anyone would be happy with a drawn series anyway, you call this a fortress yet are happy with a drawn series?

What people are forgetting is that in the end the series is likely to end in a draw. Which means Pakistan have NOT lost a series yet in UAE, remains a fortress and obviously Pakistan's home.

Can't see any other team winning against them in UAE either.

Being humble does not mean one can not have fun or enjoy a victory, it means you cherish the euphoria of the win but you also give respect to the quality of the opposition and understand that there is still a long way to true greatness which is defined by consistency.

Very well put, this could apply to a large majority of the pakistani population.

Look at the whole picture, a lot of work needs to be done (both in a cricketing and non cricketing context).
 
Since residing in the UAE we've been tough to beat in tests, only 1 defeat (impending) in 10 test matches! Our test series results have been:

0-0 (2) vs South Africa [2010]
1-0 (3) vs Sri Lanka [2011]
3-0 (3) vs England [2012]
1-1 (2) vs South Africa [2013]

Our next few test series in the UAE, leading up to the 2015 WC are as follows:

(3) vs Sri Lanka [Jan 2014]
(3) vs Australia [Oct 2014]
(3) vs New Zealand [Nov 2014]
(2) vs Zimbabwe [Jan 2015]

We should win these next 4 series quite comfortably (Sri Lanka may cause a few problems) so that would mean over 4 years without a test series defeat at our 'new' home. Shaping up to be a fortress!

It was never an ODI fortress to be fair.

Tests for sure, unless the opposition manipulates the ball.
 
Ya ODi's is not Misbah infact Pakistan's forte apart from beating SL 4-1 in 2011 we have lost every ODi series in UAE

2-3 vs Aus 2009
1-2 vs NZ 2009
2-3 vs SA 2010
0-4 vs Eng 2012
1-2 vs Aus 2012
1-4 vs SA 2013
 
We are frustratingly woeful in ODIs here.

No excuse for an 18-6 drubbing at the hands of Australia, NZ, SA and England in the space of 4 years.
 
In Test this maybe a fortress, in ODIs apart from 2 series wins we have been trashed here by everyone else :facepalm:
 
Batting conditions in UAE are not exactly the perfect batting conditions of the SC. Ball doesnt come on to the bat and outfield is slow. Our batsmen are struggling to adapt and there stroke play is not very attractive over there. The only batsmen i have seen really do a fantastic job over here has been Kamran Akmal in that century in 2009 and Nasir Jamshed in 2012.

Exactly. That's why I don't buy this not playing in Pakistan excuse.

Our last ODI series at home, lost 2-1 to SL and got rolled over for 70 odd in the decider chasing 300+.

Our woefulness has nothing to do with not playing at home.
 
RSA 6-1 over Pakistan ever since the first test win. The fortress has been annihilated.
 
England beat us silly in the ODIs here last time so it was never a happy hunting ground for us

We can say that if there were a 1 or 2 ODIs or T20I matches but in a Test match you need to win sessions just to win 1 Test match and thn there were 3 Test matches multiply it with the sessions and i don't think the answer is a fluke?
 
Pakistan trolling MIG or MIG is trolling us I have no idea what is going on.

They got genuinely outplayed, then worked hard on their game and then went on to put Sri Lanka and India in their place in SC where they were a dif' unit.
 
Pak should start playing qualifiers with namibia holland afg etc .... After this performance

IMO, if the probability of any event taking place again is 0, its a fluke. Regardless of what the time period of that event in the first place was.

Also, a little breakdown of that series shows a target of 145 for England in the second Test and us getting out for 99 in the third Test.

Now, how often will Pakistan defend totals of 145 and how often will it win by scoring 99 in the first innings?

It is not as big a fluke as Afridi's 37 ball hundred, but its still a fluke nonetheless.

They didn't get outplayed. They simply batted worse than us.

They learned from that and hammered India in India.

If they come to UAE now, they will whitewash us much more convincingly than we whitewashed them.

We've lost 16 out of the last 22 matches in the UAE.
 
No more superficial cleansing, Pak kirkit needs surgery, Under 19s must take over. Do or die.

Unbeaten at home since 2007, much of the cricket we played in that time-frame was in the UAE. Definitely one of the most difficult places for visiting teams to play.

Hopefully we can get some competent curators for the upcoming series against the Aussies and Kiwis. It'll be fun to watch Ajmal and Abdur eat their feeble batsmen alive and for Misbah to put Lyon in his place.
