When Gary Kirsten resigned, a certain section of our cricket fans was outraged.

They thought PCB is in the wrong here, and asking their employee to do as asked was outrageous. They thought there will be nobody to rebuild and regroup this Pakistan team.

So far, the resignation has proven to be a blessing it appears. PCB now has a free hand in implementing their strategy, and Jason Gillespie - a great coach himself who has taken over as the head coach, has delivered splendid results.

Does this mean the PCB think tank and Jason Gillespie are gelling together quite well and taking our cricket forward as per a shared understanding?

Do we need any other head coach?

There’s no doubt that PCB treated Gary Kirsten badly…and how can we judge how team under Gary Kirsten would have performed…when he didnt even have enough time? He directly came to the world cup , where he had first interaction with the team.. You cant expect immediate results from a coach…that too in a world cup.. Now was the time to implement his vision and strategy..

Even Jason Gillespie lost series against bangladesh at home…so..? And PCB took all powers from him.. I still believe we should involve Jason Gillespie more in decision making…He will be more effective when he will be given freedom to implement his vision and strategy and not as dummy coach or as match day strategist…..and now that Gary has resigned..our best option would be to appoint Jason Gillespie as all formats head coach… But now Jason Gillespie is not keen in becoming all format coach….after how has he been treated by PCB..although publicly he says I dont want to stay away from family….. so now who will we appoint? Saqi bhai aka qudrat ka nizam coach….in place of Gary Kirsten?

Yup 1 series doesn’t indicate anything .

Additionally, Saqi is primed to get the role, which will bring back Qudrat ka nizam. No series coach will take this job as a match day analyst with no selection power.

Not sure why people here think that Gillespie would take the white ball coach role too when he's all but reduced to be a match day strategist even as a red ball coach.

He's openly shown his displeasure on being removed from having a say in the team selection as test coach so it won't be long before he might go the Kirsten way.
