Former England batsman and cricket commentator Geoffrey Boycott revealed his World XI, which only featured only one Pakistani and no Indian players.

Talking at a private function in Mumbai, the former right-handed batsman said that he will pick 1992 World Cup winning captain Imran Khan as the leader of the playing eleven, which features the likes of Australian greats Sir Don Bradman, West Indian greats Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Vivian Richards.

The 76-year-old said that he chose Imran as the leader of the pack as ‘Imran was strong and could handle the players’.

Boycott further said that he cannot pick Indian players just to please the audience, but admitted that even he himself would not be able to get into a line-up full of stars of the yesteryears.

“I can’t pick Indians just to please you,” Boycott told the audience. “I can’t get in the team myself. Kapil Dev was a wonderful bowler and so was Ian Botham, but I can’t put them ahead of Sobers. If you want me to be nice because I am in India I would pick five Indians, but that’s not me.”

:)))

Right in the chest.

Love it. I love it when people speak with truth.
Many of the times i have seen people just kiss up to others for particular agendas. Be it world elevens or even awards.

He is fair enough.

Indian Players who can be part of world XI are gavaskar and Tendulkar.

Pakistan it can be Miandad , Imran , wasim , Waqar.

HAHAHAHAHHAA

That went like a tracer bullet! :ravi

Straight outta the park, wow wow wow. :raja

Geoffrey you beauty. I mean, sometimes, that 1 billion plus population and overflowing internet forums do give a picture that some particular players are the best ever.

Reality, at times, gets lost in such a mess.

:)))

What an absolute legend

Love how he speaks the truth from heart and doesn't conform

5 years ago:

BOYCOTT’S XI: Jack Hobbs (ENG), Len Hutton (ENG), Donald Bradman (AUS), George Headley (WIS), Viv Richards (WIS), Garry Sobers (WIS), Alan Knott (ENG), Sydney Barnes (ENG), Malcolm Marshall (WIS), Shane Warne (AUS), Dennis Lillee (AUS).

Where is the captain?? :O
Maybe Imran played better in the last 5 years!! :)))

I agree with Boycs. Although Dhoni is a very good captain his does not have the power of personality that IK did. No Indian has that, it's a Pak Pathan thing!:yk2

Always good to see a legend not pandering to the BCCI. The likes of Dravid and Kapil have no business getting into all-time XIs.

A person would have much more credibility if he keeps his "11" intact,GB's 11 when he ridiculed ICC dream 11 was:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cr...Dream-XI-is-a-joke-it-has-no-credibility.html

His previous 11 had players only from Eng,Aus,Wi yes there was no bias then?? Also not sure which Imran he is talking about now considering he didn't even make GB's team in 2011 but became a captain now?

Because of course, your opinions on cricket players have never changed.

It would change for a new player, how does it change for ex players? Also does it change to that extent that someone not selected before becomes "the captain" of the team?
Ofcourse I get why you are defending the person :)

Five years ago he was a callow youngsta beauty :afridi but now he possesses the wisdom that comes with growing up :misbah

Don't you get wiser with age?

So he only said this to rile up Bharatis while IN India? I'll take that as well. :azhar2

Totally agree, however, I sense some sort of bias in Geoff's comments. He hasn't done this for the first time. He was asked once to pick in his favorite Bowling XI and guess what he DID NOT pick Wasim/Waqar/Imran or Fazal, which i think is absolutely ridiculous. Any all time XI at least warrants Wasim if not Wasim and Waqar.

Here is the thread FYI - http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?152800-Geoff-Boycott-picks-his-11-favorite-bowlers

The point I am trying to make is that Geoffrey not picking any Indian does not necessarily mean it is a carefully thought out statement. It is obviously his choice.

There is no pressure on anyone to pick Pakistanis in their XIs.

Umm, yes. Opinions change all the time and I'm not defending "this person", I'm pointing out the stupidity in the idea that ex-cricketing greats will not change their opinions.

Comments in this thread are equally as worse as those who name players to kiss up to audiences. :))

This is a classic case of over-compensation masquerading as "speaking the truth as it is" and gullible people falling for it. Hehe.

But in general, Boycott is a gun. I like him.
