Hes currently batting at a S/R of 132 and more importantly he averages 34 with the bat.

He has even left the likes of Afridi far behind whose S/R is 114 and averages only 23.

Yes Maxwell has played only a handful of matches but he is turning into a beast in the same mould of Afridi and might even become the Biggest Beast if form remains constant.

Maxwell not only hits them hard but also bats responsibly.

I disagree that he bats responsibly.

He just hits well and has been given the license to hit.

The only difference is, he is more calculated in his hitting, and Afridi sometimes becomes a freak when hitting and loses it altogether.

Also with Afridi, one day people want him to play safe, and the next day he wants to be hitter. Next day he wants to be spinner. He never found out what he was.

It would be fun to watch them batting together :D

on these green tops Bailey left the likes of Kohli behind with an average of 55 and strike rate of 92. Faulkner left behind Rohit and Raina with his average of 45 and strike rate of 117.

Explanation: Hindustani bowling and Hindustani pitches. Every Tom, Dick and Harry can hit a billion 6s, or more accurately, every Baily, Maxwell and Watson :P

Re: Glenn Maxwell has the highest Odi Strike rate in the World

Maxwell has age on his side. Once he hits 30, his sixes will start dwindling. Seems like a hack but is highly entertaining to watch so I ain't complaining till this joyride lasts.

He has also hit 6 Sixes in 3 Odis against the Superior Pakistani bowling Line-up.

He's a good attacking batsman who will be a force on Australian type of pitches in ODI and T20 but he's too overrated. His record isn't that great.

no wonder the MI paid a million $ for him .

SR will drop eventually say after playing 100 odd matches

If he keeps this s/r up for 18yrs then maybe you can say then he has left Afridi behind- oh yes he also needs take more than 350 wkts:afridi

The sad thing about Maxwell (and the same applies to Afridi) is that underneath the slogging there does appear to be the makings of a good, consistent cricketer.

Problem is they simply want to slog rather than use their mind to win games.

Not all of it is slogging, and sometimes he overplays his hand when the damage has already been done.

Afridi is a mindless slogger.

and still India won the series and almost 4-2 barring the unfortunate rain, reason: the bowlers outclassed the aussies,Indian batting is a let down these days anyways

Not every tom dick and harry, Bradman farhat would still give respect to Indian bowlers

For current players who've faced a minimum 500 balls faced in ODIS it's Andre Russell with a strike rate of 119.34

Maxwell is not a slogger , neither was Afridi ....both are just clean hitters of the ball .

they both played for Hampshire

I'll keep clutching you keep slitting :))

I have seen nothing in the last 1-2 years that convinces me Umar Akmal is not a cowlasher either.

It was different when he initially came on, but last 1-2 years have been just ugly heaves and slogs.

Of course, we can blame the captain, batting position, pressure, forced wicketkeeping, green lipstick, and underwear problems for his constant failures.

Doesn't change the fact you keep clutching at last vestiges of hope that some people, including you, have for this guy.

I hope he performs.

Will put you out of your misery and stop these useless comparisons.

@Dr_Bassim

He can be a decent batsmen he just needs to get his attitude right and improve on his shot selection.

He is an exciting batsmen like ponting anf gilly.
I hope he will perform and bring batting depth in australian lineup.

they have batting depth imo.. Mitch Johnson can win matches by bat too and even mcckay can defend solidly..

For that Afridi will have to play for Mumbai Indians :asif

Individually, Umar might be better than Maxwell. However, both have different roles for their side

Maxwell-The aggressor when team needs a NRR boost and when possible, a finisher. He does both quite well and with the SR he has got, we can say he is pretty successful.

Umar-Can do exactly what Maxwell. BUT. When Umar Akmal comes to bat, the teams need him to play proper cricket more than anything else. Akmal does not execute it quite well.

Now you can blame team management, but you cannot deny the fact that its mainly Umar's fault. Its a team sport-you play the way the team needs you.

Almost sounds like Maxwell/Cameron White. I think we picked both as spinning allrounders in India. Lol

Compare Maxwell With Afridi when maxwell's average drops to 20... Maxwell won Australia the odi series against Pakistan in UAE..

I think people like Maxwell, Afridi make cricket more fun to watch. I don't mind having them around at all. Although Afridi is a bit of a joke these days, he has in the past provided some truly awesome moments.

Glenn Maxwell has the highest ODI Strike rate in the World

Maxwell is like Afridi with more of a brain and more batting talent

Those hatrick of sweep shots of root was unbeliavable

I wouldn't say that Afridi is a sloppy slogger entirely but he's definitely one of the best clean hitters of cricket ball. If you look the fastest fifties record you will find his name consistently which means he can hit the ball. I wish he was just a little more mature which would have made him a better cricketer. Good example is Jayasuriya who improvised his skills
