dildildalwalla bro please post the updated picks of the round time to time (probably after 3 poster choices). Will make it easier for others to quickly skim through the list.

When will you pick?

Now for my picks:

1.
2. S. Jayasuriya SL
3. R. Ponting AUS C
4. R. Taylor NZ
5. R. Dravid IND WK
6.
7. S. Afridi PAK
8. S. Pollock SA
9.
10.
11.

So Dravid and Pollock. Managed to get in a keeper, not the highest quality keeper but one who could certainly bat and is an above average ODI batsman.

Pollock...well what can you say, over 300 wickets and 3500+ runs, with a very good sr and someone who can settle in with the tail.

ahmadharis1 you're up champ.

Plenty of top picks still left this round. Next one tho will be a hard slog especially for the ones who will end up way down the draft order.

Just had a look at who's available for Zim. Yikes! :yk

Maybe needs a re-think dildildalwalla hardly even 7/8 semi-decent picks there champ? :))

Similar thing with Bangla. Might be too much of a disadvantage for the ones who happen to end up at the bottom of the draft order. It could work if associates are also allowed for those picks tho and then maybe let the last round be a free-for-all or something. That is if everyone agrees to it. Only putting it out there.

I'll tag everyone else as well so this can be sorted out asap before this round finishes up. dildildalwalla can take it from there.

silent ischemia Da_Future_Knick ahmadharis1 shady Major captain crook shafkath

Ok, I'll wiat for the others to reply, so far it seems you guys like this new suggestion. I'll make amendments to the rules once everyone has a say and the round finishes.

Then mix it up. Stay with the draft order and couple it with a Country order.

First in draft order picks from 1st country and second picks from second and third from third and so on.

No you can't. We will simply move onto the next person
shady
ahmadharis1 can make up his pick at the end of the round

Got to give poor fella an early pick in next round. Hard done By.

What if he now shows up before shady ?

It doesn't matter, it's all part of the rules. And I don't decidet he picks, they are randomised.

Awesome so we have four on board thus far.

Just waiting on silent ischemia Da_Future_Knick ahmadharis1 shady Major shafkath

First in draft order picks from 1st country and second picks from second and third from third and so on.

We would need 10 countries tho champ in that case. Whoever ends up with Zim/BD/Associates again will be scraping the barrel once we get done with rounds 4 and 5 :))

shady I think it's your turn now chief.

ahmadharis1

you got 10 hours bro
ahmadharis1
We got this. I mean the tournament. :)

Kapil Dev - A Cal Ripkin of Cricket. Captain of a World cup Winning team as well. You can't measure someone's heart. If you could, He would rub shoulders with Mohammad Ali/Michael Jordan/Wayne G.

Hasim Amla. The other half of your opening equation. 50+ average. played 150 ODIs ABD played 211. BOTH have 24 centuries. Isn't this enough.

If you want to go another route, then Kumble 334 wickets. You have your spinner (the best one to come out of India). But Kapil also has boat loads of wicket too.

Just had a look at who's available for Zim. Yikes! :yk

Actually adding to that maybe we'll have to put a limit on the number of Associate picks in each of those rounds? Otherwise we may end up with a situation where there are not enough decent associates left for the BD round to fill in the gaps :))

Also another thing to keep in mind is the minimum number of games bit. Any chance of that being relaxed for the Zim/BD round or will we have to stick to it chief dildildalwalla

4. Criteria regarding the players you can pick: - For the test playing nations, they must have played a minimum of 30 ODIs - If you are picking someone a batsman, then he must have played a minimum of 10 ODI innings at that position - For the non-test nations, players must have played a minimum of 10 list A and/or ODI games

ooops. Didn't know the time was up. You see, with everyone having 24 hours, I thought we had plenty of time. But some of you posted too fast and shortened the time. Plus I think we both are in US. Weekends are different than weekdays.

If the minimum games criteria is relaxed for Zim/BD then max 5 associates each round should be doable without disadvantaging anyone too much I reckon. There should still be some decent picks left for the bottom half of the draft order.

In what way is the US time in the weekend different from weekdays champ :yk

I'll take Kapil Dev and Dale Steyn. Kapil is imo Indias best ever fast bowler plus his batting strike rate of 95 is great for his time and means he can add some pace to the bottom of the innings as well. Not to mention he's a World Cup winning captain too.

My XI so far:

1.Martin Guptill
2.Adam Gilchrist
3.Javed Miandad
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.Kapil Dev
9.
10.Dale Steyn
11.Muttiah Muralitharan

Looking good. Major you're up bruz.

Totally agree

Good stuff so that's six in favour now.

Agreed. I read the rules again and it says the last pick would be from a minnow side. Elaborate ; does it include the associates or them along with Zim, BD or even WI/Pak in the modern era:kakmal

:))

Awesome so that's seven then. Well the plan is to also allow associates for Zim and BD rounds since there's not a lot to pick from. Otherwise those at the bottom of the draft order will find it tough. As for the last round it'll probably be a free-for-all (ie any country). Will have to see what dildildalwalla wants to go with.

Makhaya ntini
Ganguly

Cant believe i have to forego lance klusenar

captain crook your turn mate. shafkath after that

My choices - Sehwag and Steyn to bring on some much needed fire to the otherwise sedate team :steyn

That makes it -

1. Sehwag
2.
3. Sangakkara (K)
4. Astle
5. Inzamam
6.
7.
8.
9.
10. Steyn
11. McGrath

I was very tempted to bring in the greatest opening batsman captain in my team but realized I was short of quality bowlers. Draft is a tough business :stokes

Over to you shafkath

Alright, Steyn is not available. Why not pick the best allrounder from '99 edition? My choices - Sehwag and Klusener.

1. Sehwag
2.
3. Sangakkara (K)

I was just looking through the criteria I set out for player selection:

" Criteria regarding the players you can pick:
- For the test playing nations, they must have played a minimum of 30 ODIs
- If you are picking someone a batsman, then he must have played a minimum of 10 ODI innings at that position
- For the non-test nations, players must have played a minimum of 10 list A and/or ODI games"

There are many players from Zimbabwe who meet that criteria, so I do not think I will be changing the rules to the Zimb round. I know the quality of players will be quite low but then again you have a WI pick to balance that AND that's the hwole point about picking a world XI...pick a player from each country. Even if that country doesn't have the best quality.

HOWEVER, I have decided to change the last round to a free-for-all. That means anyone with a lacklustre pick in round 4 (or from Bang) can pick anyone from a nation of their choosing. All in all, we end up with teams representative of the world...the cricketing world anyway.

If people still want to pick an associate/non test player, that is fine.

Oh come on man. I made my sa and india pick keeping in ny the associate mandatory pick..

shafkath

you're up

Shady has him...

Lol this is so messy. Gna have to flick through carefully to see who has been picked.

Picks so far

Dhoni donald
Sachin kallis
Virat AbD
Yuvi QdK
Dravid pollock
Dev steyn
Ntini ganguly
Sehwag zulu

Gibbs and azharuddin

These guys will bring some money in for me as it looks like my team may struggle on the pitch. Was tempted by cronje but i thought him and azharuddin would clash over who gets how much money.

2 very good batsmen. Shocked they aint been picked. Some team owners looking to keep a clean image here.

dildildalwalla looks like we're done with this round. Please publish the draft order for the next round.

The round is not over yet. ahmadharis1 is up. He missed his turn

Will the draft order in round 4 be the reverse of round 3. As was done in round 2

The round is not over yet. ahmadharis1 is up. He missed his turn

He can pick his players anytime now, even if draft is into next round.

Btw, he still has decent players to pick from.
No one has picked Ashwin, Kumble, Kirsten, Boucher.

The round is not over yet. ahmadharis1 is up. He missed his turn

Guys, please allow his picks as Hashim Alma and Kumble. Since Shady took our original pick Kapil. I am ahmedharis1 's official agent/adviser/mentor.

Then you can move on.

ahmedharis1's team should be:

1. Warner
2. Alma
3. Crowe
4.
5.
6.
7.
8. Akram
9. Kumble
10.
11. Malinga

So there adjustments made in the rules while draft is going on. Then please allow ahmedharis1's agent's (me) pick and let the draft go on smoothly. Hashim Amla, Kumble.

First we lost Kapil. Now if we lose these players in free for all round, then our team needs to fold.

Request participants to revert quickly. This is getting messy. At least authorize other posters to pick on your behalf if you're getting late. No offence but random posters coming in and picking for others is not working.

You can't pick for someone else as I made very clear a while ago. And ahmadharis1 we'll be moving onto round 4, you can take your pick anytime.

1. silent ischemia - Anwar, Williamson, Warne, DeSilva, Dhoni, Donald

All the picks thus far

Oh come on man. I made my sa and india pick keeping in ny the associate mandatory pick..

Can i change my pick for this round?

Firts off, you guys were the ones asking for a change, second I don't think how it makes a difference. You have an even larger variety in the final round.

I'm gonna have to put my foot down now (sorry lads), no more changes, no random posters making picks for any one else. I gave permission specifically to SL_Fan because whoeevr is making the picks are doing it through his one account.

I hope that's settled. Round 4 pick order coming in.

Round 4 - Zimbabwe and West Indies

Order -

1. captain crook
2. SL_Fan

should be very interesting, this is where we weed out the people with the cricketing knowledge, and those with less :smith

also gotta quickly thank Arsalan Pro for keepin an eye on the draft when I'm not around!

You can't pick for someone else as I made very clear a while ago. ...
I understand that and I also understand you are the moderator for this fantasy draft. All I said, in good faith that some rules got changed/relaxed on the fly. Now people can choose another country player instead of the associates. Amla and Kumble are still on the board. ahmedharris1 may not have the opportunity to pick them if the draft is open for all. Have a great draft completion.

Order -

1. captain crook

Love you bro :))). But getting to pick first from a legendary pool of players is overwhelming :danish

Will post my choices very very soon!

Will post my choices very very soon!

You need to pick pacers. Some other memebers need batsmen.

From now onwards, most picks will be to 'Balance The Combination'.

This means that best players may not be the one that balances your team.

Very very tough for me and I feel ashamed that I won't get hold of the greatest batsman of all time even when I have the choice. I should have foreseen this in some of my earlier picks. Team balance is a bit*h. Now I know the difficulty :(

Anyway.. these are my picks - Andy Flower (Zimbabwe) and Big bird Joel Garner (West Indies).

Here's my team then -

1. Sehwag
2. Astle
3. Sangakara (K)
4. Andy Flower
5. Inzamam
6.
7. Klusener
8.
9.
10. Garner
11. McGrath

Over to you SL_Fan.. you will have him for sure now.. those pace bowlers and Viv.. godly combo
