[PICTURES] Gwadar to host Player Draft for the 10th edition of HBL PSL on January 11, 2025

This is big news for the upcoming PSL! Whichever team gets him is almost guaranteed to be a finalist, if not the winner. He alone has the potential to demolish bowling attacks, especially given his history of performing against PCT. I can't wait to see him perform on home soil!

Nothing big news when a washup retired player joined the league.

He had already played in canada or some other random league after taking the retirement.

Bug bews is when active big player's are joining the PSL.

:kp

Mujhe abhi bhi Rickleton chahiye!

Mujhe Abhi bhi Fin Allen chahiya!

I want to see these guys Mohammad Ali and Akif Javed to be tested properly against current international standard pros.

How will they sign him. He has already been picked by MI. Same with Glenn Philips.

Mark Chapman has signed up for the HBL PSL Draft

New Zealand's Michael Bracewell has signed up for the HBL PSL Draft.

Not sure about him. Might do good on these pitches.

he went unsold imo
You are right.

MI did a tweet for him recently for the SA T20. I think they will come back for him if he has a good tournament.

The guy hasn’t kicked off the way he was hyped up to. A bit of a khwaja Nafay type situation. His T20 sr is 120 especially considering how much he was hyped

There won't be much IPL viewership in Bangladesh this year. Great opportunity for PSL to lock in few BD players and gain BD viewership and expand PSL.

I was always pro Bangla but after the events of the last few years, Bangla feels like my own team now.

We should 100% get BD players in PSL, & honestly, some of them are absolutely terrific. Nahid Rana, Taskin, Mehedi from the top of my head are absolute goated. The second tier players also have a lot of potential & they even won in WI recently.

Instead of getting WI players who won't add anything to viewership, PSL must get star BD players no matter what it takes.

I would even add a player or two from Nepal as well. Get players from countries that share similar time zone & cricket is a popular sport.

Sri Lanka let me see you get down low

Head, shoulders, knees and toes!

What if and I say if (highly unlikely)David Warner fails in PSL , will his reputation be damaged :vk

As for Draft where are the quality fast bowlers nobody has shown up

Reported Qalandars retentions:

Shaheen
Rauf
Fakhar
Abdullah
Wiese
Sikander Raza
Zaman Khan

Looks like they will go for Warner first pick. Very risky

Bangladesh has quite a few good players.PSL franchises select them if they are available.Nahid Rana is a good find for BD.I would like to see him in PSL.

PsL needs quality overseas player otherwise the league is waste of time, products from PSL , Azam Khan Khusdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed have only lit up BPL

No what the PSL needs is to remove useless players like Babar and Rizwan from the platinum category so they can sign more of the quality overseas players that have registered.

Keep up.

Failure to register all of IPL rejects will be a big failure for the PSL. Should have been able to lock in the likes of Tom Latham, Chris Jordan, Kyle Jamieson, Nathan Smith, Roston Chase, Brandon McMullen, Blessing Muzarabani, Dwaine Pretorius, Olly Stone, Will O'Rourke, Lance Morris, Dilshan Madushanka, Ottneil Baartman, Jason Behrendorff, Kyle Mayers, Alzarri Joseph, Richard Gleeon, Gus Atkinson, Steven Smith, Pathum Nissanka, Josh Phillippe, Ben Duckett, Dewald Brevis, Finn Allen, Keshav Maharaj, Adil Rashid, Shai Hope, Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow e.t.c.

Some of these players are needed for boosting the PR, Sponsorship and Eye Balls for the league.

PCB needs to negotiate with the ECB and request them to grant NOC, maybe come to a financial arrangement.

I'd have Adil, Bairstow, Atkinson, Duckett, Stone but with ECB not sure they'll grant them NOC's as had it been IPL then it wouldn't be an issue.

They are not T20 players . The sooner you realise this the better.

And this truth will be exposed even more with the inclusion of current T20 pros on the fringe of IPL joining the PSL. You couldn’t see it when washed up internationals such as Guptil and Munro were exposing Babar and Rizwan, I doubt you and your type of fan will see it then either.

Happily remain in a fool’s paradise, and then embrace shocks like USA….which are not really shock results on cricketing merit.

Tbh I don’t understand what the ECB are playing at, it makes no sense to allow IPL NOCs but bar players from PSL which is running at the same time?

hopefully their player’s union sorts this out.

IPL pays big money.ECB doesn’t want the players to to miss out.Even if a cricketer retires at forty he needs money for next 30 years. Why not make as much money as you can.

That’s not the point,

The point is that those who were not picked in the IPL should not be obstructed to play PSL, which is especially a shorter tournament and is being played in the same window as IPL this time. There is no logical reason to stop English players from playing PSL if they are allowed to play IPL.

I may be wrong but I think the BCCI compensate the other boards?

PCB announcing a list of good players but not announcing their categories

This will be a problem if all of them want to be in platinum

No point having 20+ platinum names if only 7-8 of them will be picked in that category

Looks like KK will have to pick a released Pakistan player into the platinum as per rules.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if Aamer Jamal or Asif Ali ends up in their platinum. They won’t be promoting any of their current Pakistan players into that category. Maybe Niazi but that would be stupid

Are players already informed PSL Team's /officials about Which category they want to play or PSL team can decided about it once they registered for the Draft?

By the looks of it, yes.

That’s what the journos report, the big names only sign up for platinum or they don’t want anything to do with it.

Have a look yourselves.

There are not many slots available in the platinum

A team can maximum select three platinum players including overseas players? Or there is not limit .
They have to pick one (or two) Pakistan players in the platinum.

They pick 3 Plats and one supplementary Plat.

I’m guessing here, but it’s what I know from experience

I don't think it will be much of an issue this time around. Particularly because no Cricket will be happening for 3 months because of IPL and there will be plenty of players who would rather just take up Cricket than be on a 3 months vacation - essentially an unpaid leave.

Would you rather waste your time in PSL earning peanuts or take the time off with family, friends and holidays?

I would rather take the $85,000 pay in diamond or $50,000 pay in gold for two months of PSL and then take the one off month to spend time with family, friends and holidays.

Fair, but you probably don’t make that kind of money in your day to day ventures like these players do. So you would obviously see the Moolah and run to it. It’s not like that for guys who know they are worth a lot more. Being in Pakistan for 2 months isn’t appealing

This day is different for them as well. Like I said. Not everyone will but many players would rather play Cricket than have a 3 months rest. PSL isn't a subpar league either.

Looking forward to the PSL. Some good players already signed up and I feel like they're building up for a proper marquee signing at the end.

Oh merit Pakistan has the following platinum t20 players

Rizwan ( by virtue of his T20 captaincy not his actual performance)
Saim
Fakhar
Haris Rauf
Shaheen.

Platinum should be assigned on meritocracy to give the upcoming players a chance to stake their claim for a bumper contract next year.

Amir, Imad, Iftikhar, Usman Mir, Naseem Shah are not platinum t20 players.

I disagree with Rana on many things but his assessment of PSL platinum picks is spot on. It is actually a farce. Too many jobs for the boys and players sitting on their backsides getting big contracts.

However there is no incentive for the franchises to shake things up. Win or lose it doesn't matter to them.

Who are they? Who do you recon?
David Warner obviously will be fun to watch but looking forward to seeing Daryl Mitchell, Chris Lynn, Adam Milne, Jason Holder and even Riley Meredith sounds like he could be a good signing. He's pretty rapid with good domestic performances.

What I meant was, which other players do you think PSL can sign who you recon are gun?

I still think there are some high quality players available but the problem here is,

1. The PSL committee and Pakistan public care more about names than actual quality. These idiots will run after paying Kane Williamson top dollar money whilst ignoring a gun player like Mathew Short.

2. The high quality players who missed out on the IPL are still waiting to be called up as replacements for players who will leave through the tournament.

Don't know about availability but I guess one of the English guys like Jonny Bairstow or Ben Duckett would be good to see in the PSL.
