Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul suspensions 'lifted with immediate [Post #441]

stupid stuff from BCCI.

they are not the moral police

No offence but the freshie mentality is very clear in this thread. This is where the western wannabes fall down, they want to appear modern and liberal, and think that means being crass is ok as long as sex is involved.

Spot on.

Without CoA, I think the stance wouldn't have changed. No corporate sector wants to turnish its image by associating with employees who has developed bad reputation.

A simple example, Cheating isn't legally wrong. What pandya does, isn't illegal and he has every right. But when it becomes public in a negative way and the sector comes in to the picture, there has to be some damage repair in order to avoid collateral damage.

People lose their jobs over one tweet. Pandya should consider himself lucky.

Did Shami lose his job for extramaritial affairs and womanising? Did Sidhu lose his job when he faced murder charges?

Rahul Johri was not suspended when he was accused of sexual misconduct.

This is not a corporate.

If there was no Eduljee Pandya would be playing the third ODI. She is cancerous.

This nothing but Eduljee playing to the feminist lobby and trying to show she has power after Vinod Rai ignored hwr during Rahul Johri and Women's team coach matters.

Being Crass is not a crime. Certainly not enough to take away someone's livelihood.

Wearing an India badge on your blazer should mean something?

And since when did "oh he did something wrong too" become a defence?

Any idea when we can get rid of the CoA?

CoA is playing smart. They know that the moment the Lodha reforms are implemented they have to leave.

So what they did was that they put in clauses in the new BCCI constitution that were not in the Lodha report. Now the BCCI members refused to obey that and they are again in the Supreme court.

And since when did "oh he did something wrong too" become a defence?

Shami Azhar and Sidhu too wear the India badge. Rahul Johri is the CEO of BCCI. Why one treatment for them and another for Pandya?

Only reason i can think of is that Pandya has no political or administrative backing.

Secondly Vinod Rai proposed a 2 match ban. Thats was acceptable.

Now they are suspended indefinately and at the least miss 8ODIs and 2T20s.

Lets assume Pandya is wrong, there has to be a proper quantum of punishment. It cannot depend on the whims of a person just because she is a feminist.

Even BCCI members are in shock regarding how CoA suspended the players.

He didn’t nothing wrong. Nothing. Zilch.

We live in a fruitcake society where we are so advanced we are looking to go backwards. Looking to be offended. Literally. Feminism is a cancer and just female supremacy. Their views and ideologies are flawed and illogical and worst of all, hypocritical.

Are you actually serious??Or just trolling everybody here.
This interview was classless, misogynistic and even racist and you have the audacity to say that it had nothing wrong in it.Perhaps you should take off your glasses tinted with a false sense of masculine superiority and actually watch the interview.

Feminism as long as it demands equal basic human rights for both genders which btw includes respect and considering woman as something more than their physical being,is not a cancer and it is time some men stop getting their panties in a twist over it.

Psuedo feminism is an epidemic and needs to be called out but an indiviual needs to start comprehending the difference between the two and not feel threatened everytime a 'feminist' stands up for herself.

I have already explained myself in post 311.
Besides it is staring blatantly at your face through his interview.it is a surprise you can not see it.

Saying he likes black Caribbean culture and he is on the black side when it comes to women is racist?

He never said women are sloots and they need to stay at home. Nothing misogynistic about his remarks. He is young and probably sleeping with many women. Hang him for that.

Please do not twist his words to make them seem harmless. When he was asked by Karan about asking the names of the women he is interested in, he said no he likes to watch them move as he is from the black side.
Being a black does not mean that they view women as figures of physical pleasure. That is a wrong image associated with black people that they like to watch a women's assets rather than being interested in something as simple as her name.

Women need to stay at home is not the only thing a man can come up with way to be termed sexist. It is basic respect of women and viewing them as something more than objects of male desire which sets one apart from the label of sexism.and if you can not, living in the 21st century, with all your exposure in the world find any fault with these disgraceful comments there is little for you comprehending an anonymous poster talking sense.

It’s wrong to term this as “freshie” mentality. The amount of “white” peopls who engage in and defend this sort of behaviour is pretty high. Look at cricket dons snowflake comment. Isn’t that how most American republicans talk

and here comes our cpt.R bhai to look down on the desi in another way.

had this happened in 2010, nothing of sort would had happened.

Infact, you guys should see Usain Bolts pic with his side chick. There were videos of the guy dirty dancing.

Bro, Mr Rishwat tends to look down upon all the desis who were not born in UK.

Wish this was broadcast prior to the 1st test. Could have booted out KL Rahul for Mayank Agarwal sooner, and left the former in peace to "stalk girls on Instagram". ::J

Bro, Mr Rishwat tends to look down upon all the desis who were not born in UK.

Confused Desi residing in the UK. Would be as out of place in a London pub as he would in a Lahore gymkhana.

And we dont have another seam bowling all rounder.

Eduljee has cost India the world cup.

What, because of bits and pieces Pandya? Come on.

I don't think we were set to win the World Cup anyway. At least we are saved the hassle of bowling an unnecessary no-ball at a crucial time.

On a bright note, Shubman Gill has been called in as replacement for Pandya for the Aus/NZ tour. He might even have a chance to feature in the WCup now. Maybe the suspensions weren't a bad call after all :)

I would agree that indefinite ban is too harsh and doesn't fit the crime.

With lodha himself speaking out for the 2nd time against CoA, i think it's a matter of time when SC will abolish it or make it role less relevant.

Don't all men think the more you sleep around, the cooler it is?

The bcci admins are shocked. Eduljee was adamant that these guys be punished. Some says she is asking for a minimum 6 months ban.

I hope Indian cricket never sees Eduljee again.

Isn't there a hearing for CoA this month?

What a disgraceful behavior on a tv show, this is why I have more respect for Salman Khan, we all know he is a ladies man. A true ladies man never gloats in a tv show. This is why even at 50+ women wants to marry the Great Khan, Pandya will probably end up with KL Rahul :yk

What no ball he bowled at crucial time?I think you are confusing him with Bumrah

Pandya is the hitter we badly need at 7 and his seam bowling would be good addition in England

I'm sure there are misogynists in America as well, instead of freshies we'd call them hicks. The major difference would be they probably wouldn't be bragging to their mommies about it, that's probably a uniquely desi twist.

Bro, Mr Rishwat tends to look down upon all the desis who were not born in UK.

That is not even close to the truth, I only look down on those who constantly whine about their life in Pakistan while dancing and cheerleading tto the tune of their neighbours....who wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire. Why should I respect those who don't respect themselves?

Rewind to the semi-final of the WT20 2016. Scene of crime - Wankhede, Mumbai:

Pandya to Simmons, 1 no ball, Pandya's got a wicket of a full toss! That was so friendly just under waist height, and Simmons has slapped it flat and straight to Ashwin at cover. But hang on, Simmons has a second life! Pandya has over-stepped! He will bat on, and he has a free hit coming up. Big no-ball.

Simmons proceeded to smack him for a six the very next ball, and end up with a valuable 82* (51) to overhaul our score.

Really? How many matches did he win for India with his big hitting?

His bowling average : 40
Batting average : 29

He is an inconsistent player. I wanted him to be dropped but not like this. Your other fav superstar KL Rahul was unlucky in this Koffee with Karan fiasco but he should have been dropped for his performances anyway. :inti

He's in for big hitting at 7 so check SR as well,as for bowling,Bhuvi with 38 average is a certain selection. He's not far off

Rahul has been poor and yes deserved to be dropped.Still think he can comeback coz he has talent which one can't deny

BTW you don't talk about Pant anymore :)))

If BCCI is really investigating this, then it cant be restricted to these 2 players only. Using teammates rooms , partying till 5am before a match would have been done by many other players as well

Being Crass is not a crime. Certainly not enough to take away someone's livelihood.
Being crass on a public forum when you yourself are an iconic figure and have the potential to influence the minds of the next generation is a massive issue.
Especially so when the country you reside in has serious and well-documented issues with gender inequality especially sexual violence against the fairer sex.
If no action was taken it would be akin to tolerating such crass behaviour as acceptable amongst all classes of society.

Thread is about KL Rahul and Pandya. And what is there to talk about Pant? Is he part of the indian odi team? :inti

I think Rahul got suspended for some of his statements like he was drunk and did party all night and thought he won't be playing so he was in a bad hangover and all of a sudden got to know that he is playing. I mean you know there is a match next day, yet you go drunk and party all night and there is a chance you might get selected, that is not setting a correct example really.

Anyways, he needs a break and good he got replaced by Gill.

Somethings are better left unsaid even if true. It doesn't paint rahul as a professional player to be honest. With his non existent form, the backlash will be more.

It could be more damaging for rahul as he was one of the players that bcci had long term plan.

I don't know why they chosed to spill out on that show.... If it was a serious show, then people would have been emphatic if not sympathetic.

Suspended cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on Monday tendered “unconditional” apologies for their sexist comments during a TV chat show amid CoA chief Vinod Rai saying that the BCCI should correct the two players, not end their careers.

However, despite the apologies tendered by the duo, 10 BCCI units demanded a Special General Meeting (SGM) to appoint an ombudsman for carrying out an inquiry. Rai’s fellow Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji wants an inquiry done by CoA and the BCCI office-bearers.

“Yes, Hardik and Rahul have submitted their reply to the fresh showcause notices that were served to them. They have tendered unconditional apology. The CoA chief has instructed the CEO to conduct an inquiry as per clause 41 (c) of the new BCCI constitution,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Edulji fears a “cover up” in the controversy, triggered by Pandya and Rahul’s much-condemned statements on a TV show during which they spoke about hookups with multiple women and being casual about it even with their parents. The comments have been described as “inappropriate” by India skipper Virat Kohli.

Brought back midway from the tour of Australia, Pandya and Rahul’s immediate fate hangs in the balance with the World Cup less than four months away. Rai, in an e-mail to Edulji, said that the “BCCI is not in the business of ending young careers”.

“Please be assured that the desire to conduct the inquiry is not a desire to ‘cover up’. The interest of cricket in India has to be kept in mind. The off the ground act of the players was deplorable. It was crass as I said immediately after reading the comments,” Rai wrote.

“It is our responsibility to reprimand them, take corrective action, sensitise them of their misdemeanour and then get them back on to the ground once they have suffered the consequences,” he said.

The former CAG stated in his mail that players have been “shamed” after being recalled from an international tour, the ongoing ODI series against Australia, and principles of natural justice demands that they be heard.

“We have shamed them by recalling them from an ongoing tour. We have suspended them from further games. We need to correct them and not bring their career to a cul de sac by indefinitely delaying a decision. These misdemeanours require swift action, with a corrective approach,” he added.

The road to redemption for the duo could prove to be a tricky. Rai has instructed BCCI CEO Rahul Johri to carry out a preliminary inquiry but Board members along with Edulji want otherwise.

Rai justified Johri initiating the probe, citing the BCCI constitution. Edulji feels Johri, because of past allegations of sexual harassment against him, should not be entrusted with the task.

“The CEO must fulfil his duty as per Rule 41(C) and conduct the inquiry after receiving the explanation of the players. He must ensure that the norms of natural justice are fulfilled,” Raid said.

The e-mail also states that a request has been made to Supreme Court to appoint an Ombudsman for the case, on advice of the legal team. “During the 17th (January) hearing, we request the hon Court to appoint an Ombudsman. However, in the unlikely event of the Hon. Court not being able to appoint the Ombudsman in the hearing scheduled for the 17th Jan, 2019, we must go ahead and appoint an ad-hoc ombudsman as per legal advice received by us.

“The Ombudsman, so appointed, can take a final view on the players based on the inquiry report submitted by the CEO,” he wrote.

In another development, acting president CK Khanna received requisitions from 10 state units demanding a Special General Meeting at the earliest.

As per the new constitution, the secretary — in this case the acting secretary — can call an SGM on 21 days’ notice but if it has to be an Emergent SGM within 10 days, the board president (acting president) in this case has to convene the meeting.

“It will be interesting what call Khanna will take. If I remember, he once didn’t sign the minutes of SGM fearing that it would be in violation of Supreme Court orders. On another occasion, he didn’t even attend an SGM,” a state unit member, who was present during both the meetings, said.

“There is a possibility that Khanna may instruct Amitabh Chaudhary to call a normal SGM with 21 days’ notice which a secretary is allowed to,” he added

Is the COA arrangement permanant? I thought it was the case only until the reforms were implemented. How can the court boss over a private entity for so long?

We heard of people shooting their feet. This guy has bozooka'd his body. I have not seen some one self sabotage themselves so much in a span of an year. From being the blue eyed boy to a creep discard, it's been a very steep fall.

So BCCI sets up a special committee to inquire into what has happened with KL and Pandya.

What are they going to inquire? How Pandya seduced women or how he used to watch women or how Pandya can talk to his parents so freely about the women he slept with?

A grown man cannot do anything well with in the law and he had to apologize for what he does in his personal time just because some internet trolls does not like the life style of Pandya.

Most of these committees and inquiries take considerable time. I have a feeling Pandya will not play IPL as well as Worldcup.

Jai Ho Vijay Shankar.

Is the COA arrangement permanant? I thought it was the case only until the reforms were implemented. How can the court boss over a private entity for so long?

It is temporary but CoA are not interested in leaving. They are delaying the reforms by adding stuff that Lodha report didnot have. Then BCCI members again go to court. This is dragging on.

Khar Gymkhana revokes Hardik Pandya's honorary membership

Mumbai-based Khar Gymkhana has revoked allrounder Hardik Pandya‘s honorary membership of the club.

The cricketer, along with opener KL Rahul, was earlier suspended pending inquiry by the BCCI for making sexist comments on a television show.

“The three-year honorary membership was given to Hardik Pandya in October 2018. But the club’s Managing Committee Monday evening decided to revoke the membership,” Khar Gymkhana’s honorary general secretary Gaurav Kapadia told PTI.

Kapadia informed that such honorary memberships were given to sports persons by the club. Another club official said the committee took up the issue following the backlash over the comments.

Khar Gymkhana is one of the better known clubs in Mumbai.

A BCCI official had on Monday said the two suspended cricketers had tendered apologies. Pandya and Rahul, during an appearance on an Indian TV show, spoke about hookups with multiple women and being casual about it even with their parents.

When people get arrested for criticising modi and the government in social media, comparatively this suspension looks very lenient.

Good from BCCI. show these wannabes were they belong to in the first place and this will make an example out of nowhere for others on how to conduct themselves off the field respecting all genders and races.

The world is falling apart around Pandya.

Couldn't have happened to a better bloke.

What has his personal life got to do with BCCI?

Did Pandya rape anyone? Why can't 2 consenting adults have sex? Typical backward mentality.

Why so much hate for Pandya? Is it cricket related or his night outs with women?

Basically what this whole episode is saying is, you can stare at women and be tharki, but not talk to them and take them to bed.

I don't like him as a cricketer too. But I think BCCI is overdoing it here. You can't drop a player based on his performance in the bed.

Personal life was expressed by him for cheap publicity in front of the media and in a country where there is a certain culture.

I’m not against his lifestyle he is entitled to do whatever he wants and will pay for whatever he does wrong which was his suspension is now.

The suspension shows that the BCCI wants to set an example to the younger generation

Certain culture? What culture? What law has Pandya broken in the country? Why don't the Police arrest him and send him to jail if has broken a law?

Shame you Indians pretend to be big defenders of freedom of speech but don't let a player speak about his experiences in the way he wants. If his interview offends you then you should not be even watching it. Is it so difficult to ignore?

The BCCI itself is a corrupt organization, the whole world knows how IPL is organized and what happens during the IPL after parties. Do you think BCCI is some honourable institution who has the moral character to clamp down on Pandya ? I bet all the bigwigs in BCCI are even more morally corrupt than the two cricketers against whom they are

+1.

We are a bunch of hypocrites.

Where was the ban on Bollywood actors who has done worse things on and off the screen.. They are huge celebrities and have major fan following. Many cricketers in the past who played for India were play boys in their youth. Our Coach Ravi Shastri himself is a famous one.

1. There's something called morally wrong and another aspect of legally wrong.

2. IPL parties are private parties. Whatever goes inside, no one is flaunting in front of media.

3. There are way morally corrupt people than these two. I agree. But if you are stupid, then you will face the repercussion. As I said, for morally corrupt, the law doesn't have any rule. But when you publicly flaunt it in front of the whole nation, due to your stupidity, you deserve the backlash.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean getting the right to say anything. You've very primitive concept of freedom of speech.

Last but not the least, I believe the punishment is too hard. One or two match ban, just so that the wave gets subsided would be ok. But now the punishment is more than the crime.

This is going too far now.

If Pandya still plays in coming WC then I'd be really surprised.

Not sure what Ravi did if he had publicly flaunted just as Hardik did then this punishment should have served to Ravi there and then which would be an easy example to show hardik and serve the same.

This is the age of feminism. There is no escape from the scrutiny and punishment when you disrespect women.

Their actions were cringeworthy, lewd and unprofessional however the punishment is now way OTT. What the hell are the BCCI trying to prove?

what's the exact thing he said...

Why don't you ask women's names at nightclubs?" asked Johar when Hardik replied saying he struggles in remembering names of the women he interacts with during such parties. "I like to watch and observe how they move. I'm little from the Black side so I need to see how they move," Pandya responded. He dwelled onto his sex life suggesting, "When I lost my virginity, I came home and said, Main karke aaya hai aaj (I did it today)”. Further highlighting the casual take on the subject from his parents, the 25-year-old revealed how "cool" he is with his family members.

At a party my parents asked me acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai (Which are your women)? I said yeh, yeh, yeh (pointing out women) and they were like waah proud of you beta," Pandya asserted.

Another question from Karan Johar that attracted a debatable response from the two cricketers was, "If you all hit on the same women, then how do you decide?". Rahul answered saying, "up to the woman" while an outspoken Hardik said: "Nahi nahi aisa kuch nahi hai, talent pe hota hai. Jisko mila woh leke jao (Nothing like that, it's about talent, whoever gets them, takes them)".

Their actions were cringeworthy, lewd and unprofessional however the punishment is now way OTT. What the hell are the BCCI trying to prove?

Their actions are unprofessional? Were they eyeing women and talking to them during the match?

People who are stuck with Sanskari ideas may find what Pandya said as offensive. But saying that his approach is unprofessional is stupid. He is at least talking to them before bedding them. No force involved.

Edulji lady is making a fuss.

oldies finding it hard to accept the change of times.

On one hand women want to be treated as equals. But they need special treatment at every moment in life just because they are women. Pulling out women card on demand.

I meant actions as in talking about it on tv like they did.

He was talking about his personal life. Nothing about BCCI or other players or their wives or married women.

Why would anyone blast someone for what they do during their spare time? So many people visit clubs even in India. Are they all idiots and deserve to be sacked from their jobs just because they mentioned it to some friends unrelated to jobs?

I am still waiting to see what law Pandya has broken. You cannot keep sacking people for what they do in their private life. This is ridiculous.

At least in Shami's case he was suspended because his wife made all those allegations against him.

"He watched the match (India vs Australia 2nd ODI). Ever since he has returned from Australia, he has not stepped out of the house. He is also not taking any calls... he is just taking rest," Pandya's father Himanshu was quoted as saying by Mid Day.

"It's a festival... a public holiday in Gujarat, but Hardik did not fly any kites. He loves flying kites but his busy cricketing schedule never allowed him to be at home during this festival over the last few years. This time, he had a chance to fly kites, but because of the adverse situation, there was no mood to celebrate the festival," he added.

"He is very disappointed with the suspension and repents the views he expressed on the TV show. He is committed not to repeat the same mistake," Himanshu said of his son's take on the subject.

"We have decided not to talk to him on this subject. Even his elder brother Krunal has not discussed anything about the episode with him. We are waiting for the BCCI's decision," he concluded.

Pandya lying low until the storm clears, look like.

Good BCCI took a stand . They let it know that they expect better public behavior from those wearing the Indian colors . It also does not mean END of their careers which is the right way to go about .
Having said that , Pandya does come across as a sleaze bag & i saw the show , he sure is NOT welcome to my home :)

Anyway, I feel Pandya will not play this WC. He has to wait out until the angry Sanskari types cool down.

Bcci members asking Eduljee why no action was taken againist Harmanpreet after she was caught faking her degree and removed as DSP of Punjab police. She is still captain.

She is under criminal investigation but Eduljee is protecting her. This woman is hypocrisy.

+1

You don't punish anyone so much for lewd behaviour. His sponsorships and money will already be impacted. Let him play cricket again after a short punishment, which he has already been handed by not playing in the ODI series in NZ and Aus.
