Definite glimpses of Kevin Pieterson in him.

Style is there.
He has swag.

Most exciting young batting talent going around.

Lol...2 sixes vs Lanka and he can be the next big thing... Saw him in the last match and looked clueless in a bit testing Pitch...looks a hack

Hes nothing like KP though lol . His technique , especially the big hitting is Bravo like .

one of the worst threads in PP history. Pandya is a mediocre bowler and a slogger who might score runs on pattas.

Him along with Sarfaraz are future of our LOI teams , been a fan for a while

I remember Hardik from IPL. He seems to have brought his game to another level quite clearly for international cricket. Technique is pretty crisp and the bat remains very straight. Bit of hard work with our good seniors could make him a sensation in next 2 years. Of course tight now its just spark here and there. Bit I see potential I this lad. There is definitely bit of KP in him.

Been saying that hes the No7 we have been looking for . Cleanest hitter we have in domestic & great body balance when he hits unlike a lot of other batsmen . I think he can develop into Yuvi kid of big hitting finisher if he continues to improve

Hahahaha nice joke OP. Let him become Thisara Perera of India first then we will talk about KP lol. :)))

If he can make 30 40 runs in 20 25 balls and bowl 10 overs for 50 i will take him.

All indian batters are product of Ranji trophy.

Of course they are but its not as straightforward as looking at their numbers and suggesting they are good batsmen when you consider the quality of pitches and opposition bowlers. Its high time we reduced the Ranji to six teams of our top talents and and let them play each other so that their numbers are not massively inflated.

Have you seen the ranji pitches?

Not sure about his bowling in test cricket ,but he has everything to be a Flintoff type great all rounder in shorter formats for us .

The ease with which he clears the boundary is crazy .Haven't seen anyone do that with such ease since Yuvi and Dhoni in their peak .

Proper superstar all rounder in the making (atleast in shorter formats) for sure

Ranji matches could be pretty tough for batsmen as many are played on green pitches to boost confidence cof our fake quickies.

So never underestimate our Ranji batters.

Trust freelance bhaijaan.

His fast bowling is as harmless as Maxwell's spin bowling.
But if he can match his batting then he's a good prospect.

So yeah...right now he is a poor man's Maxwell :)

Relies too much to hit on legside will flop in most countries unless builds a better physique and even then would probably be an average cricketer.Hope i'm wrong.

He hits pretty well on the off side .Just check his hitting in SMA tournament.

This is a joke of a thread. Pandya should aspire to be the next Afridi. Even if he's half an Afridi, it'll serve India well. All he needs to do is score 20 at an SR of 150 and bowl a few decent overs.

We don't even need full afridi and you want him to aspire half of that :murali

Ofcourse you do. An allrounder than can give you a decent full quota of overs and also hits the ball hard at the end of the innings. Every team needs someone like that.

KP..Seriously???However, Pandya will be handy in t20s as he can hit a 30-35 of 15 balls and can bowl a few overs. Doubt he can be a good AR in odis.

Have you see him batting in ranji trophy matches ? He is a proper batsman

Does not matter. Too early to make such threads. He needs to prove a lot at the international level. First and foremost he is there in the team as a bowler. He is a bowling all-rounder. If he can't excel in that department, even if he is bradman, he needs to go.

Hes not in the team as bowling AR . Hes seen as a no6 or no7 who can fill in 2 overs

Then we don't need him. We can play another batsman like Manish Pandey and bowl with Raina and Rohit if required. We don't need a non pure batsman at the lower order to bowl 2 overs when we already have Ashwin, Jadeja who both bowl full quota and then can bat too.

Oh we need him desperately in the lower order

Weird title change #GreenRoars

Please let it be known the claim is that Hardik could become the best in the world and I think its the batting that could elevate him to that status. Not too sold on his bowling. He is a handy bowler but he is someone who can take attacks apart as a batsman and that could be strengthened in coming 2-3 years in making him the best in the world.

I don't understand why we need to give Hardik Pandya chance as a batsman to make him best in the world for 2-3 years while there are players waiting in the wings to get the same chance as a pure batsmen? The only reason Hardik is in the team is because the think tank considers him to be someone who can bowl at least 5-6 overs in an ODI and close to full quota in T20. If he can't do that we don't need to force him into the team just to see if his ability can make him next KP or Ponting or Bradman. We already have lots of batsmen who will fit that bill in the future.

He is more like an Andre Rusell tbf.

Now imagine a talent like Andre Russel with BCCI's backing.

Andre himself would have been the best in the world, he had it all.

Same with Bravo.

These are all raw talents who could have become huge.

People are just getting blind by a couple of slogs. They dont realize what potential this guy has with the ball. Make him work on his bowling. The real potential is there. Batting is a bonus.

One thing we desperately need is a AR who can bowl pace . Thats a difficult combination to get . The likes of Raina , Rohit , Ashwin , Jadeja etc all bowl spin . Pandey gives us a much needed variation in our bowling .

Secondly , the other thing we desperately need is a lower order big hitter .Pandey cannot do that .

This why we need to invest time on this kid .

Exactly what we need in our ODI team.

Hard hitting lower order bat who can clear the ropes.

Guys like Jaddu, Ashwin and co should come only from No 8. They ain't reliable lower order bats in today's high scoring games.

Team shaping up nicely. Took about a year but now its coming along.

Goal - Attacking top 7

No 1, 2 and 3 sealed
Raina and Pandya (hopefully) sealed
2 spots up for grabs (Pandey the front runner)

You might not have seen Dasun Shanaka clearing boundaries little later in the innings. Panday a bit better bowler, Shanaka, a bit better batsman.

This guy isn't heavily built and draws a lot of power from his 'timing' and right there reminds me of Maxwell. However, not sure if he has as much talent. India will be happy if he can score 35 runs from 20 balls consistently. Nothing more as we have other 'decent' batsmen :D

I'm more interested in his bowling. He has a lot of 'energy' and can bowl fast. Looks like a guy who won't give up as easily. The kind of cricketer Dhoni 'loves'.

I just hope he can be a bit like popeye :razzaq. Our no.7 with the bat who can score 30-40 quick runs in ODIs or build an innings in case of trouble with a 50. Also bowl not too expensive 5-7 overs of medium pace, and share the 5th bowlers duty with Raina in the long run.

that is like our fans who claim Taskin is the second coming of Akhtar

I don't think it is that much timing.

Seems to have good forearm strength, something like Lee Chong Wei who is really thin but smashes the badminton shuttle at 350 kph.

Taskin is, by Bangladesh bowling standards. Hardik will be, by Indian allrounder standards :)))

Actually Taskin and Akhtar comparison is valid. Taskin is just 21 and has had his fair share of injury which is rather worrying

He is a top order Batsmen for Baroda .Once he develops and gains experience he can bat in the top 5 for India not just a lower order hitter .

Showing off his Kevin Pieterson swag again.

A special batting talent.

Read somewhere he saying he learnt his english through whatsapp groups and chats. Speaks pretty awesome for a guy who learnt english like that (if it is true).

He is the best athlete in the side.

Big hitter and has pace. Outside Asia, he could be a real asset.

If he was Pakistani then he would have been called the next Imran Khan or Gary Sobbers.

Too early to make a call ....we have seen irfan pathan etc etc in past too

Can he swing the ball?

He does not.

India would be lucky if Pandya can fill the role that Corey Anderson/James Faulkner/Grant Elliott does for their countries.

Someone who can score fast down the order and bowl a few overs every match.

Doesn't swing.

Mire of a hit the deck bard kinda bowler. Generates vicious bounce though and is pretty sharp.

I don't rate him much as a bowler.

Its his batting that I find special. My eyes say he is much better than a slogger.

Better batsman than Lara, better bowler than Steyn and a better physique than Michell Johnson and Shane Watson combined.

As his name suggests, he likes to play hard. Pakistanis beware.
