Haris Rauf can bowl constantly at 140+, has a smooth action, is injury free mostly and seems like a solid athlete: that’s his strength.
He does have good basics skills too like Yorker, short ball, slower ball, swing and seam.
That’s what makes him look like a great option to play in your x1.
At 140+ swing and seam for any batsmen the margin of error is minimum so he does give himself a chance to get wickets.
However he hasn’t played a lot of competitive domestic cricket. This is why he has 0 skills on how to read and set up a batsmen, can’t bowl 2 balls in the same spot, lacks patience and is confused on how to get out of a sticky situation.
If batsmen adjust and play him on merit, he is the easiest bowler to handle as most international cricketers including Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are not really bothered by 140+ pace anymore due to all modern techniques etc. 150+ express can bother anyone but don’t think Rauf qualifies in that category.
At this point, it’s foolish to expect him to play 2-3 local domestic seasons, his best bet is to play an English county season, learn some temparament and consistency.
If he keeps playing T20 and leagues, he might have an off day when he takes a couple of wickets or break the back of the side but most days he will be tonked around.
That’s my honest reading of Rauf.
