Harry to become chief impact officer at US coaching firm BetterUp

The Duke of Sussex is to become chief impact officer at the US coaching and mental health firm, BetterUp.

Prince Harry said in a statement that he was "really excited" about taking on the new role. His exact duties, hours and any payment are not clear.

It is his latest job move after he and the Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals in March last year.

It also comes after the duke and Meghan gave an explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey earlier this month.

In it, the couple alleged an unnamed royal family member had asked about how dark their son Archie's skin might be, before he was born.

Buckingham Palace has said the claim is "concerning", but it will be addressed privately. Earlier this week, Buckingham Palace said a diversity review was under way across all royal households.

In his statement, Prince Harry said his goal in his new function would be to "lift up critical dialogues around mental health, build supportive and compassionate communities, and foster an environment for honest and vulnerable conversations".

Prince Harry will not manage employees or have people report directly to him, but he is likely to spend some time in the company's San Francisco headquarters once it is safe to do so, BetterUp CEO Alexi Robichaux told the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

In his role as the company's first chief impact officer, Prince Harry is expected to have input into initiatives including product strategy decisions and charitable contributions, and advocate publicly on topics related to mental health, the WSJ reports.

Prince Harry said that when he met Mr Robichaux, they "instantly recognised a shared passion for helping others realise their full potential".

The chief impact officer position is relatively rare in the corporate world, notes the WSJ - it is seen more commonly in non-profit organisations such as Amnesty International.

BetterUp, which was founded in 2013, provides mobile-based professional coaching, counselling and mentorship.

The firm says it has some 2,000 coaches offering services in 49 languages in 66 countries.

Prince Harry has previously launched initiatives such as the Invictus Games, which aim for members of the armed forces to use sport for psychological and physical rehabilitation. He has also advocated publicly on mental health issues.

Prince Harry and Meghan now live in California after confirming in January that they would step back as "senior" royals and work to become financially independent.

They announced last year that they had reached a deal with streaming giant Netflix to make a range of programmes, some of which they may appear in, as well as striking a deal with music streaming service Spotify.

So Harry, or maybe we should call him Harriet, has been reduced to working as some bogus motivational guru in the U.S.

Marrying the wrong person can be so destructive. Meghan has ruined his life.

He been reduced to working as pseudo therapist with no qualifications and giving generic motivational speeches about working hard and not giving up on your dreams and the best of all, “finding your purpose” in life.

What a pity. Anyway, he made his own bed and has to live with it for the rest of his life.

Lol what is so pitiful? He is actually trying to do some real work to earn a living and not living off tax payers money. He has the right to do what makes him happy as an adult. He is not bound to live his life by your opinions and rules.

I think his bed is looking very nice. $100 million Netflix deal, $20 million Spotify deal, $10 million Apple deal, a 7 figure salary in this corporate role. He is going to be worth more than William and Prince Charles combined whose entire wealth has been built on inheritance and British tax payers money. I can bet many people will want to sleep in his bed and want someone like Meghan to ruin their lives

Not a fan of the royals but tbf their ancestors established the UK, there would've been no country without them or at least not the UK. Think about this, you descend from a tribe/clan that unified numerous other tribes into a confederation and then conquer an entire landmass and turn it into a Kingdom and then expand it into an empire, now your descendants have inherited your wealth and titles along with your legacy but they no longer have the political power, would you not want them to have the same respect? There's a reason why people are striving to create "generational wealth" these days, you want to take care of your descendants.

No one buys this drama. If he wants to earn a living and be his own man, he should forego the Netflix and Spotify deals which he only got because of his royalty.

He wants to be independent and self-sufficient but he is still using his status as a British royal to make money.

That is why no one takes him seriously.

They don’t take Harry the puppet seriously either. They are seeing dollar signs in this royal family soap opera and are trying to capitalize on it. People are going to watch this show all over the world.

Harry and Meg are valuable marketable assets simply because of the controversy.

No better controversy than to play the race card.

So in your world, a guy who gets paid very little or nothing is taken more seriously than a guy who gets paid 100 million plus. Anything else?

Again, no one takes Harry the puppet seriously because he is being bossed around by his wife and he is still using his royalty to make money while talking about his desire to be self-independent.

Harry will be taken seriously and will earn a lot of respect if he forgoes all the wealth he has inherited as a royal and starts from scratch. Of course, he will not do that because he doesn’t have guts.

We live in a transactional world. Companies and business see the royal family saga as an opportunity to make money. It has nothing to do with the respect that he has, which he clearly doesn’t.

He is getting plenty of respect from corporations and people willing to pay him $50-100 million. Most people will happily let their wives boss them around if it changes their financial fortunes for the better. He is not bound to live by your obtuse views. Why don't you start afresh, giving up all the education you acquired via your parents help, move out of your house and start completely from scratch with a job completely alien to you and your identity

Why would I? I am grateful and thankful for what I have inherited from my parents and the opportunities that they have given me.

I don’t talk crap about them and I don’t criticize them. I also have not expressed my intention of giving up my family assets. If I do, I would be a hypocrite to still live off my family wealth.

Harry is a hypocrite with no guts and no courage. He also has no talent and skill. At least his opportunistic wife was a moderately successful actress and achieved something on her own talents.

The only talent Harry has is good luck. The luck that brought him into this world in the British royal family. Other than his family name, he is nothing.

If he really wants to be his own man, he cannot live off his family name and fortune. That makes him a hypocrite.

A man who criticizes his own family in front of strangers

That's a low quality and a stupid man

Whatever Meagan faced should have been handled privately this looks week on Harry's part for sure like 95% of the blame should go to him

But Meagan isn't winning over any fans with that attitude of going to Oprah to dish dirty laundry of her family

Also let's be honest if he wasn't a royal no way a buetiful woman like her would end up with barely a ranked 5 guy like him...

And from the looks of it he isn't the most brightest guy either, so we should forget the charming point

So except for his royal background he brings nothing to the table in this relationship we'll be naive to think royalty had no factor in her marrying him

Doesn’t require any talent, only opportunities and privileges provided to him as a royal born.

Police have responded to security alerts at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Southern California home nine times in as many months, official figures reveal.

Since Harry and Meghan moved in to their Montecito mansion with one-year-old son Archie in July last year, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has dealt with calls recorded as phone requests, alarm activations and property crimes.

The data, obtained under Freedom of Information laws, was released after the couple spoke of their security concerns in their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Officers were called four times in July last year after Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito from Los Angeles, where they had been temporarily living since leaving Canada at the start of the pandemic.

One call is listed as a phone request while the others are labelled "alarm activations" and all occurred in the early hours of the morning.

An August request is listed as "Misc Priority Incdnt", while there was a further alarm in November.

Officers returned to the mansion on Boxing Day at 2.54pm for a call listed under "Property Crimes".

The most recent call was at 2.21am on 16 February this year and is listed as an alarm activation.

Representatives for Harry and Meghan declined to comment.

A spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office declined to provide further details about the calls.

The couple's security arrangements hit the news following their tell-all interview with chat show host Oprah Winfrey in March.

The duchess, who is pregnant with a daughter, said she sent letters pleading with Harry's family not to take away his personal protection officers, warning he was facing death threats.

The duke said he never thought he would have his UK taxpayer-funded security detail removed upon deciding to step back from royal duties.

He said: "I was born into this position. I inherited the risk. So that was a shock to me."

Explaining his decision to leave Canada for the US during the early days of the pandemic, Harry said: "The biggest concern was while we were in Canada, in someone else's house, I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed. By this point, courtesy of the Daily Mail, the world knew our exact location.

"So suddenly it dawned on me - 'Hang on a second, the borders could be closed, we're going to have our security removed, who knows how long lockdown is going to be, the world knows where we are, it's not safe, it's not secure, we probably need to get out of here'."

Can’t stand these two especially Meghan. I hope they aren’t invited to Prince Philip’s funeral. They don’t deserve to be there.

Not too bad a timing, the UK parliament has been doing a good job dissolving itself periodically in the time period since. :batman:

Prince Harry is facing a backlash from US First Amendment campaigners after he called the constitutional rule "bonkers".

The duke was speaking to actor Dax Shepherd and producer Monica Padman on the Armchair Expert podcast.

He seemed to criticise the amendment - the right to free speech - saying: "I've got so much I want to say about the First Amendment as I sort of understand it, but it is bonkers.

"I don't want to start going down the First Amendment route because that's a huge subject and one which I don't understand because I've only been here a short time.

"But, you can find a loophole in anything.

"You can capitalise or exploit what's not said rather than uphold what is said."

The First Amendment covers a number of basic freedoms in the US - including freedom of religion; speech; the press; the right to assemble and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Ted Cruz, a senator for Texas and ally of the Trump-wing of the Republican party, criticised the comments, simply tweeting: "Nice that he can say that."

Meanwhile, Jack Posobiec, widely regarded as a hard-right activist and internet personality, said: "Prince Harry is attacking America's First Amendment.

"Tells you everything you need to know."

Candace Owens, an activist and founder of a number of right wing organisations, added: "Sunday riddle: How many more Hollywood-style interviews will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle give before they finally achieve the privacy they claim to be so desperate for?"

Nigel Farage, who has been touring the US as part of "America's Comeback Tour", also added his thoughts, tweeting: "For Prince Harry to condemn the USA's First Amendment shows he has lost the plot.

"Soon he will not be wanted on either side of the pond."

Elsewhere on the podcast, Harry, who is father to two-year-old Archie and is due to welcome a baby girl with wife Meghan, also said he wants to "break the cycle" of the "pain and suffering" of his royal upbringing as he raises his own children.

The duke also likened being in the Royal Family to being in "a mixture between The Truman Show and being in a zoo".

Honestly speaking I was sympathetic to Harry but he needs to **** now and stop dragging his family down in his interviews. I am surprised they haven't disowned him yet

The man clearly has a lot of pain to work out.

As a white man who married a black woman and received pushback from his family, I sympathise. Of course, Mrs Robert wasn’t being attacked ceaselessly by racist tabloids.

Prince Harry said he turned alcohol and drugs to cope with a 'nightmare' time in his life

Prince Harry in his new series "The Me You Can't See," produced alongside Oprah Winfrey, shares details of his struggles with mental health. He reveals he is triggered by London, where his mother Princess Diana lived, and in the past he's leaned on drugs and alcohol to cope. He also shared that it was his wife Meghan who pushed him to begin therapy.

The Duke of Sussex and celebrated talk show host serve as executive producers of the five-part Apple TV+ series and have conversations about their own experiences throughout the episodes. The series also features news-magazine style pieces that profile celebrities like Lady Gaga, Glenn Close and the son of the late comic Robin Williams, mental health advocate Zak Williams.

In the series' second episode, Harry says he knew if he didn't go to a therapist, he would lose Meghan, whom he wed in 2018.

"When she said, 'I think you need to see someone,' it was in reaction to an argument that we had," Harry remembers. "And in that argument, not knowing about it, I reverted back to 12-year-old Harry," the age he was when his mother, Princess Diana, died as a result of a 1997 car crash in Paris.

In the show's premiere, Harry says he was enraged by the circumstances of his mother's death and "the fact that there was no justice, at all." "The same people that chased her into the tunnel photographed her dying on the backseat of that car," he says.

The 36-year-old royal coped by not thinking or talking about his mother, as he didn't see the point if he couldn't change the past. But as he grew older, he was “just all over the place mentally.”

Harry speaks of experiencing panic attacks and severe anxiety. He describes the years from 28 to 32 as "a nightmare time in my life."

Harry said he leaned on alcohol and drugs to dull the pain.

"I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling," he says.

Slowly, Harry began to take note of his weekend binge-drinking. "I would find myself drinking not because I was enjoying it, but because I was trying to mask something," he says.

In the docuseries, Harry shows viewers the experience of using EMDR therapy to address the discomfort he feels when he flies into London, which he said reminds him of the loss of his mother. Harry says he feels nervous, tense and hollowed out. He thinks of being "hunted," "helpless" and as though "there is no escape."

Harry says addressing his trauma was essential both for his own well-being and the health of his relationship with his wife, the Duchess of Sussex.

New kind of royals:On third anniversary, Harry and Meghan embrace revolutionized royal roles

"One of the biggest lessons that I've ever learned in life is you've sometimes got to go back and to deal with really uncomfortable situations and be able to process it in order to be able to heal," he says.

In Episode 2, Harry revisits the evening he and Meghan spent at London's Royal Albert Hall, shortly after his wife, then pregnant with their first child, shared she was having suicidal thoughts. (The duchess first opened up about her suicidal ideation in the couple's sit-down with Oprah, which aired on CBS in March.)

Prince Harry says that Duchess Meghan's suggestion he look into therapy convinced him to see someone.
Harry felt "sorry for (Meghan), but I'm also really angry with myself that we're stuck in this situation. I was ashamed that it got this bad. I was ashamed to go to my family, because, to be honest with you, like a lot of other people my age could probably relate to, I know that I'm not gonna get from my family what I need."

The fear of losing Meghan and raising Archie alone weighed heavily in his decision to make his royal exit.

"That was one of the biggest reasons to leave, feeling trapped and feeling controlled through fear both by the media and by the system itself, which never encouraged the talking about this kind of trauma," he says. "But certainly now I will never be bullied into silence."

Statement from the Press Secretary for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex says "It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world"

The Prince of Wales gave the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a "substantial sum" of money in the months following their stepping down as senior royals, despite the Duke claiming his family "literally cut me off financially".

However, the couple's £2.4m repayment to the taxpayer as a reimbursement for renovations to their home at Frogmore Cottage also included 18 months of rent.

Newly published accounts show that Charles continued to provide money for Harry and Meghan until the summer of 2020, while Harry told Oprah Winfrey the pair stopped getting money from the Royal Family in the first quarter of that year.

A senior Clarence House spokesperson said the Prince of Wales provided the money to help his younger son become financially independent.

The new accounts showed that, between the Dukes of Sussex and Cambridge and their families, some £4.5m was paid out by Charles.

The spokesperson said: "As we'll all remember in January 2020 when the duke and duchess announced that they were going to move away from the working Royal Family, the duke said that they would work towards becoming financially independent.

"The Prince of Wales allocated a substantial sum to support them with this transition.

Harry and Meghan announce birth of baby daughter, saying: 'She is more than we could have ever imagined'
"That funding ceased in the summer of last year. The couple are now financially independent."

Asked about the difference in timelines given by the two parties about the funding, the spokesperson said: "I wouldn't acknowledge that they are dramatically different. All I can tell you are the facts."

A spokesperson from the Sussexes said: "You are conflating two different timelines and it's inaccurate to suggest that there's a contradiction.

"The duke's comments during the Oprah interview were in reference to the first quarter of the fiscal reporting period in the UK, which starts annually in April.

"This is the same date that the 'transitional year' of the Sandringham agreement began and is aligned with the timeline that Clarence House referenced."

They went on: "The Duke made a substantial contribution to the Sovereign Grant last year to support necessary and existing refurbishments to Frogmore Cottage, which specifically included essential structural updates to the building.

"As part of this agreement, all tenant obligations are being met. The duke and duchess continue to operate with no money being drawn from the UK taxpayer."

A royal source said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have paid £2.4 million and we're satisfied that, on the basis of that payment, it satisfies all their current obligations.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have paid £2.4m, which covers the rental income in 2020/21, rental income in 2021/22… So all of the payments are reflected in the accounts."

The Clarence house spokesperson added that the couple's departure was "a matter of enormous sadness to the family", adding: "The prince wanted to help make this work, (and) allocated a substantial sum to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to help them with that transition."

The spokesperson said: "I betray no confidence when I say they've been very successful in becoming financially independent."

The Sussexes have signed sizable contracts with Netflix and Amazon since leaving the royal fold, with Harry telling Oprah these helped pay for his security.

He added that the £7m he had from what Diana left him was used in the departure, adding "without that we would not have been able to do this".

The Sussexes' pre-Megxit wealth was thought to be around £18m.

The Clarence House accounts showed that Charles' output - including capital expenditure and transfers to reserves - fell by around £1.2m to £4.5m in the financial year after the Sussexes stepped down as senior royals.

Charles' annual income from the Duchy of Cornwall dropped £1.8m to £20.4m, while his Sovereign Grant fund fell from £1.8 to £0.4m.

The Duchess of Sussex will receive £1 in damages from Associated Newspapers after the Mail on Sunday was found to have invaded her privacy.

The nominal sum was set out in court documents which formally confirm the newspaper has accepted defeat.

The Mail on Sunday published a handwritten letter the duchess sent to her father Thomas Markle in 2018.

The media company will also pay an unspecified sum for a separate case of infringing her copyright.

Associated Newspapers previously indicated it was considering a further appeal to the Supreme Court, but the company has now accepted defeat in the long-running case.

Last February, the High Court had ruled against the newspaper group on the issue of privacy and copyright - saying the issues in the case were so clear cut that there was no need for a full hearing.

Associated Newspapers was refused permission to appeal against the decision but went to the Court of Appeal in an attempt to get the original ruling overturned.

Prince Harry has filed a claim for a judicial review over a Home Office decision to prevent him from paying for police protection for himself and his family during a visit to the UK.

A legal representative for Harry said he wants to bring his son Archie and seven-month-old baby daughter Lilibet to visit from the US, but fears they will be "unable to return to his home" because it is too dangerous.

The duke wants to fund the security himself, rather than ask taxpayers to foot the bill after he stepped down as a senior member of the Royal Family.

Harry is now arguing his private protection team in the US does not have access to UK intelligence information which is needed to keep his wife and children safe.

The duke's legal representative said in a statement: "The UK will always be Prince Harry's home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in.

"With the lack of police protection comes too great a personal risk."

The representative added: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the UK.

"In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home."

Harry briefly returned from the US last July for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother Princess Diana.

The day before, he met seriously ill children and young people at a WellChild garden party and afternoon tea in Kew Gardens, west London.

However, it is understood the duke's car was chased by photographers as he left.

Harry has shared his concerns in the past about his family's safety.

Diana died in a car crash after she was chased by the paparazzi in Paris in 1997.

The legal representative added: "Prince Harry inherited a security risk at birth, for life. He remains sixth in line to the throne, served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan, and in recent years his family has been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats.

"While his role within the institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not. Nor has the threat to him and his family."

Prince Harry has launched a High Court libel action against the publisher of the Daily Mail, court filings show.

The Duke of Sussex filed a claim against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) on Wednesday afternoon.

It is understood the claim relates to an article published by The Mail On Sunday relating to issues on his family's security on Sunday 20 February, under the headline "Revealed: How Harry tried to keep his legal fight over bodyguards secret".

A spokesperson for the duke said: "I can confirm the duke has filed a complaint against Associated Newspapers Limited."

His wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, previously brought a successful privacy claim against ANL over articles that reproduced parts of a handwritten letter to her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

Parts of Prince Harry’s claim against the Home Office will be kept secret - as a judge criticised the Duke of Sussex’s legal team for an "entirely unacceptable" breach of court rules.

Harry is challenging the department's decision, made in February 2020, to prevent him from paying for police protection for himself and his family during a visit to the UK.

The duke wants to bring his son Archie and nine-month-old baby daughter Lilibet to visit from the US, but fears they will be "unable to return to his home" because it is too dangerous, a representative said.

Security concerns if information is released

He offered to fund the security himself, rather than ask taxpayers to foot the bill after he stepped down as a senior member of the Royal Family.

Harry is now arguing his private protection team in the US does not have access to UK intelligence information which is needed to keep his wife and children safe.

After a preliminary hearing last month, a judge allowed for some documents to be withheld or redacted - including a confidential witness statement made by the duke.

People take part in a demonstration against the dismissal of P&O workers organised by the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union at the P&O ferry terminal in Cairnryan, Dumfries and Galloway, after the ferry giant handed 800 seafarers immediate severance notices last week. The judge said: "Some of the information relied on concerns security arrangements put in place either for the claimant or for other public figures in the United Kingdom. For obvious reasons information on such matters usually remains confidential."

Mr Justice Swift said that some his reasoning for the decision would have to remain confidential as well

He said current and future security arrangements would be put at risk if some of the information was shared with the public.

"Information about these matters would self-evidently be of interest to anyone wishing to harm a person within the scope of the security arrangements and would assist them to piece together previous practice with a view to anticipating present or future security provision," he said.

Prince Harry's legal team slammed

Mr Justice Swift later criticised Prince Harry's legal team for making the ruling public before it was due to be officially published.

Drafts of High Court judgments are typically provided to lawyers before their publication.

Shaheed Fatima QC, who represents Prince Harry, said she and her team had not been sure if emailing the ruling to someone who was not a lawyer last week would break the rules.

She reported it to the judge yesterday - but Mr Justice Swift questioned why she hadn't done so earlier and slammed the "entirely unacceptable" move that was a "clear breach" of court rules.

"It is also unacceptable that you come without an apology to the court," he said.

Ms Fatima said she took full responsibility and then apologised "for the fact that I didn't think fully before the emails were sent".

The Home Office's lawyer previously told the court that the duke's offer of private funding was "irrelevant".

Robert Palmer QC said "personal protective security by the police is not available on a privately financed basis" and the government "does not make decisions on the provision of such security on the basis that any financial contribution could be sought or obtained to pay for it".

Netflix cancels Meghan Markle animated series Pearl

Netflix has cancelled development of Pearl, an animated series created by Meghan Markle, in its move to cut costs.
The show, which was announced last year, is one of several projects being dropped by the streaming giant.
Last month, Netflix revealed a sharp fall in subscribers and warned millions more are set to quit the service.
That wiped over $50bn off the company's market value as experts warned it faced a struggle to get back on track.
Archewell Productions, the company formed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced last year that Meghan would be an executive producer of Pearl.
The series was planned to centre on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl, who is inspired by influential women from history.
Netflix did, however, confirm that it will continue to work on a number of projects with Archewell Productions, including a documentary series called Heart of Invictus.
The series will focus on athletes competing in the Invictus Games for injured veterans, an event founded by Prince Harry, in The Hague in 2022.
Archewell Productions did not immediately respond to a BBC request for comment.
Netflix also said that it had decided not to move forward with two animated children's series Dino Daycare and Boons and Curses.

In April, Netflix said its total number of subscribers had dropped by 200,000 in the first three months of this year, falling well short of its target.
It also warned that some two million more users were likely to quit the service in the three months to July.
Some analysts warned that, after a period of very strong expansion during the pandemic, the company had run out of easy ways to grow the business.
Squeezed consumers are cutting back on streaming services to save money, while some feel there is too much content to choose from amid an avalanche of competition from rivals such as Disney and Amazon.

At the Jubilee service this morning, some members of the British public audibly booed Harry and Meghan.

Buckingham Palace is facing questions about why it won't reveal more about the findings of an investigation into bullying allegations made against the Duchess of Sussex.

The palace has confirmed a private investigation into complaints that Meghan had bullied members of staff had concluded, claims she has always denied.

It confirmed the review had looked at how palace staff had handled the complaints rather than scrutinising details of the allegations themselves.

But after revealing that HR policies had been improved as a result it refused to make details of the changes or the findings public.

A senior palace source said: "Because of the confidentiality of the discussions we have not communicated the detailed recommendations. The recommendations have been incorporated within policies and procedures wherever appropriate and policies and procedures have changed.

"So all members of staff, all members of the royal family will be aware of what the policies and procedures are, the revised policies and procedures."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrive for the National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, London, on day two of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II. Picture date: Friday June 3, 2022.

Buckingham Palace launched the investigation in March 2021, after it was alleged Meghan drove out two personal assistants and staff were "humiliated" on several occasions.

The duchess's lawyers denied the allegations when they were made. Current and former staff were expected to be invited to speak about their experiences of working for Meghan.

Sky News understands that only very limited numbers of people were interviewed as part of the process. Archewell, the Sussexes' organisation and charitable foundation, would not confirm if the duchess had been asked to be involved or told of the recommendations.

The investigation was carried out by a law firm and funded privately, thought to be by a senior member of the royal family. The palace had suggested that any changes in policies or procedures recommended would be shared in the Sovereign Grant report.

While there is an extensive HR section and "Staff Report" in the annual accounts it isn't clear if any of the listed procedures have changed as a result of the investigation.

It does outline the royal household's Concern at Work policy which encourages individuals to raise any concerns they may have about the conduct of others and sets out how issues can be aired, with the policy accessible to staff on the intranet site - known as the Coronet.

Met officers sacked for racist Meghan WhatsApp post

Two Met Police officers have been sacked for making "abhorrent" comments in a group chat, including a racist joke about the Duchess of Sussex.

A tribunal heard PC Sukhdev Jeer and PC Paul Hefford, who worked at Bethnal Green police in east London, posted the messages on WhatsApp in 2018.

It found they had committed gross misconduct.
The hearing was told the messages mocked the people the officers were supposed to be policing.

The tribunal heard details of several racist posts, including one containing a racist slur about the Duchess of Sussex shortly before her marriage to Prince Harry.

Chairman Maurice Cohen said they were "highly corrosive and discriminatory" to members of the public "including those in the local community" they served.

The hearing also heard the pair failed to report offensive messages they received from other members of the group.

At an earlier hearing, Mr Cohen said: "The postings in this group caused serious reputational damage to the Metropolitan Police as a whole."
He added that the content was posted over an "extended period of time" and that the officers should have been aware of their "unacceptable nature".

A racist joke about the Duchess of Sussex concerning her marriage to Prince Harry was posted in a WhatsApp chat, the hearing heard.

PC Jeer had previously told the hearing he was "not in a good place" and had used the language to cope with the "issues" he had been experiencing.

Barrister Ben Summers had argued he should not be dismissed over a "handful of inappropriate jokes" which caused "limited harm" and said he should receive a warning instead of being sacked.

Michael Shaw, representing PC Hefford, said the officer found his posts "embarrassing and difficult" and had learned a "sad lesson".

Vishal Misra, representing the Met, said: "The panel has found the postings were abhorrent and discriminatory in nature and the damage it has done to public confidence is substantial and far-reaching."

Mr Misra also said "trust once lost is not easily regained", adding the men's dismissal was required to maintain public confidence in the force.

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed that her life only became more focused on her race after she started dating Prince Harry.

In the latest episode of Meghan's Archetypes podcast, entitled The Duality Of Diva With Mariah Carey, the former actress opened up to the pop icon about her experiences as a mixed race woman.

In a discussion with the "We Belong Together" singer, the Duchess said: "I mean, if there's any time in my life that it's been more focused on my race, it's only once I started dating my husband.

"Then I started to understand what it was like to be treated like a black woman, because up until then I had been treated like a mixed woman, and things really shifted."

Released on Spotify, the second podcast episode aimed to look at the "complexities surrounding the 'diva'" and the negative connotations associated with the word.

The pair also spoke about Carey's childhood and how she felt she "didn't fit in" and was teased by a boy at school.

Born in Huntington, New York, the award-winning artist said: "I didn't fit in, it would be more of the black area of town, or then you could be where my mom chose to live, where there were more white neighbourhoods and I didn't fit in anywhere at all."

Duchess of Sussex. An investigation into the handling of bullying allegations made against the Duchess has seen HR policies improved for royal staff - but the changes have not been made public. A senior palace source cited the confidentiality of those who took part in the independent review as the reason why details were not released, after current and former workers were invited to speak about their experiences of working for Meghan. Issue date: Thursday June 30, 2022.

She described how she was picked on by a boy at school for having only three shirts and wearing them on rotation, adding: "In a world where you're the mixed kid of a full-on white neighbourhood, that's what you get."

The Queen's grandchildren, including the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex, will stand vigil around her coffin this evening as she lies in state in Westminster Hall.

At King Charles' request, Prince Harry will wear military uniform, for the first time since 2020.

Prince Harry has worn civilian clothes at public events since the Queen died.

On Friday evening, the Queen's children, including the King, stood guard for around 10 minutes.

As they left the hall, members of the public applauded them.

The grandchildren's vigil is expected to last around 15 minutes.

The King's two sons will be joined by Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn.

Prince Harry has not been seen in military uniform since stepping back as a working royal in 2020.

He served two tours in Afghanistan as part of the Army. He now lives in California with his wife Meghan and their two children.

Even during times of sorrow..these two are being vilified by tabloids. Disgusting.

Terrible to see the hate that Meghan gets.

Most of it is due to the colour of her skin, but people look for other excuses to criticise her.

Not entirely. Meghan was a party girl and doesn't have the 'princess' qualities desired. None of Harry's partners have, really. Even the Wessex and Ferguson have a certain class. It isn't all about colour.

Pippa was quite classless too

Meghan thought she could bully the Royals with her Amreekan attitude but the Royals were having none of it. Then to top it off she some how cast a spell on Harry to convince him to bail on his Royal and Military duties and move with her to Amreeka.

This is a simple case of the daughter-in-law breaking up the family, which is quite a common theme in desi families too.

She wouldn’t have attract more hate had she not gone public, which is a big no-no when it comes to Royals.

Far as I am concerned Meghan is not welcome to the UK, and I think Harry realises his mistake.

Any criticism of Meghan and people play the race card.

Meghan gets criticised not for her race, but the fact that she is a narcissist person who has separated her husband from his family and aired their dirty laundry in the public.

Harry is a joru ka ghulam who dance to his wife’s tunes. But one day, he will man up and divorce his wife.

Harry is the real deal. Hopefully he has a successful life ahead with his wife and kids and stays out of the deceiving lifestyle of the Monarchs and most definitely the Gutter press.

Harry is a joru ka ghulam who dance to his wife’s tunes. But one day, he will man up and divorce his wife.

So the fact that bothers you is that Meghan dared to reveal the dirty laundry to the public, not the fact the Royal family actually had dirty laundry in the first place.

This is not the British version of “Hum saath saath hain” & Harry is no teenager who will be blindly misguided by his wife. People forget that he was always a rebel during his youth- he had himself admitted that he has always felt like fish out of water within the family, but no - his American wife has to be conveniently blamed for Harry’s issues with his family.

Honestly as far as i am concerned, the royal family is no better than the Kardashians & actually adds as much value to the world which is zilch. Atleast Harry & William actually stick by their wives- the queen has not exactly been a model parent to her own kids with the elder 3 having much more messed up & colorful personal lives. So much dirty laundry there.

Prince Harry has made an 11th-hour attempt to tone down parts of his forthcoming autobiography because he fears being vilified for it in the wake of the Queen’s death, according to reports.

The Duke of Sussex is worried that some of the revelations in his book “might not look so good” following the public outpouring of support for the monarchy, both at home and abroad, it is claimed.

The book, part of a three-title deal worth £36.8 million, is expected to be published this autumn, but the Duke is now said to be worried that it will be ill-timed as his father the King begins his reign.

He reportedly wants to make “refinements” to the manuscript, which had already been signed off by publishers Penguin Random House, though industry sources have questioned whether it might be too late.

Having invested such a huge sum of money in the Duke’s memoirs, the publishers are likely to want the book to be as revelatory as possible. The Duke had already been told to revise the manuscript after it was regarded as “too touchy-feely”, according to The Mail on Sunday, with too much of it taken up with his mental health struggles.

A separate report in The Sun on Sunday claimed that the publishers found the first draft “disappointing” and “too emotional”.

A source told both newspapers that: “Harry has thrown a spanner in the works as he is desperate to get it refined in the light of the Queen’s death, her funeral and his father Charles taking the throne.

“There may be things which might not look good if they come out so soon after the Queen’s death and his dad becoming King.

“He wants sections changed. It’s not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late.”

No release date for the book has yet been made public, though it is understood that the publishers want it to be on the shelves in the US before Thanksgiving on November 24 so that it will hit the all-important Christmas market.

The Duke was reportedly paid an £18.4m advance for the three books, which has been ghost-written by Pulitzer Prize-winning American author JR Moehringer.

Rather than watering down the memoir, it remains possible that the publishers will want the Duke to add detail about what happened after the Queen’s death when there were clear tensions between Prince Harry, his brother Prince William and the King over his own part in the events leading up to the funeral and that of the Duchess of Sussex.

It comes as fresh claims about the Duchess were made in the book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown by royal writer Valentine Low.

It claims that royal staff called Meghan a “narcissistic sociopath” and that aides referred to themselves as the “Sussex Survivors Club”.

Before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stood down from royal duties, royal household staff thought there was a potential compromise for them to carry on with part-time royal duties, only for the late Queen to veto the idea, according to Low.

Five different scenarios were discussed, including giving the couple one month a year off so they could spend their time however they wanted, and some senior courtiers even believed they could apply the same model to junior members of the Royal family in the future.

However, the Queen insisted that if the couple were not prepared to abide by the rules that restricted all working members of the Royal family - which meant they could not take on paid work - they could not carry out any royal duties at all.

Another new book, The New Royals, by author Katie Nicholl, claims the late Queen was surprised when Meghan wore white on her wedding day, believing that as a divorcee she should have worn off-white.

A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declined to comment.

Meghan Markle In Tears As Prince Harry Talks About Family In New Docuseries

Netflix aired the long-awaited emotionally charged trailer of the docuseries, "Harry & Meghan." The six-part docuseries shed light on the couple's love story and their lives in the royal family.

The trailer was released on Netflix's Twitter account along with the caption, "Harry & Meghan. A Netflix Global Event. Coming soon, only on Netflix." The trailer has accumulated more than 1 million views on Twitter. The couple is asked in the trailer, "Why did you want to make this documentary?" followed by a series of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex photos both in public and private moments.

In the 1 minute 12 second teaser, Prince Harry is heard saying, "No one sees what's happening behind closed doors, I had to do everything I could to protect my family." Further in the video, Meghan can be heard saying, "When the stakes are this high doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

In one of the shots, Prince Harry is shown with his head tilted back as his wife appears to wipe away her tears with both hands.

Omid Scobie, a close friend and biographer of the couple, tweeted that the series would be aired on December 8, adding it will share "the other side of their love story and the challenges they faced".

The announcement coincides with Harry's elder brother William's first trip to the United States as Prince of Wales and another race row within the family back home, reported AFP.

William -the heir to the throne - has been forced to part ways with one of his godmothers after she used racially charged language to a black British woman at a palace reception on Tuesday.

Harry and Meghan, a mixed-race former television actress, cited racism in the royal household as one of the reasons for their acrimonious departure almost three years ago.

Royal insiders described William's visit to Boston to present his annual climate change awards to innovators on Friday as his "Superbowl moment".

But Scobie tweeted that "if tomorrow is Prince William's Super Bowl, then here's your Halftime Show" as he shared the trailer.

"With commentary from friends, family, and historians discussing the state of the British Commonwealth today (and the Royal Family's relationship with the press), the Netflix series aims to 'paint a picture of our world and how we treat each other," he added.

The family will be braced for more revelations from the docuseries and Harry's autobiography "Spare", which is due out in January.

Prince Harry insisted ‘those Brits need to learn a lesson’ ahead of Oprah interview

Just days before the Duke and Duchess of Sussexe are set to release their new Netflix docuseries, it has been revealed that Prince Harry allegedly said that the royal family would find his Oprah Winfrey interview "quite shocking" and that "those Brits need to learn a lesson".

Sources claimed to The Sun that Harry had apparently gloated to one of his friends ahead of the famous explosive Oprah interview in March 2021. According to the publication, Harry told the friend: “This is going to be quite shocking. Those Brits need to learn a lesson.”

During the interview, Harry accused a member of the royal household of racism and claimed they ignored wife Meghan’s suicidal thoughts.

One year after the interview, royal expert Duncan Larcombe told OK!: "We don’t know the outcome to a lot of what was said on Oprah. Meghan made a massive accusation, a very serious one, that effectively a member of the Royal Family made a racist remark.

"I’m not sure the public have shifted at all. I think the feeling towards Meghan is still one of suspicion."

He continued: “I still haven’t seen anything that Harry has actually gained. What has he gained by doing Oprah Winfrey? If he wanted to settle scores, he hasn’t.”

It comes just days before a new documentary series about the couple's split from the Royal Family is released online. It's produced by Archewell and streaming giant Netflix.

Harry and Meghan have recently released the trailer for their upcoming explosive series, which is due to air Thursday 8 December.

The highly-anticipated documentary series is thought to have earned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex $100million (£88million), and is expected to expose more damaging secrets on the Royal Family.

However, ahead of the release of the documentary, the head of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell company, Mandana Dayani, decided to leave her post after working at the company for just under 18 months.

A spokeswoman for Meghan and Harry said the pair would "take full lead of their company".

Following the release of the trailer fans of the royal couple flocked to the comments section on Twitter to share their thoughts.

"WOW what a trailer, I cannot wait!!" one keen person wrote.

Another shared: "Omg this is gonna be epic!" as a third chimed: "Their unseen pictures are really cute!! I can't wait to watch the documentary."

While a fourth added: "Wowwwww...really can't wait. I'm going to have to subscribe to Netflix for the first time ever, just like I got on Spotify for archetypes. The things I do for these 2."

"We Know The Full Truth": Prince Harry Reveals In New Trailer Of Docuseries

Netflix has dropped a brand new trailer for the forthcoming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle docuseries, 'Harry & Meghan'. In the new trailer, the Duke of Sussex revealed that he was worried for Meghan Markle and thought she would end up like his late mother, Princess Diana. He said that he feared that "history would repeat itself" when he married Meghan.

In the new trailer, Prince Harry talked about the history of bad treatment against women who enter the royal family. The teaser shows footage of Princess Diana and tabloid covers "The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy," Prince Harry said in the trailer. Meghan added, "I realized they're never going to protect you."

"I was terrified. I didn't want history to repeat itself," he said.

Along with the trailer, Netflix wrote, "Harry & Meghan. A Netflix Global Event. Volume I: December 8, Volume II: December 15."

In the trailer, Prince Harry said that several stories about Meghan Markle were planted. "There's a hierarchy of the family. You know, there's leaking, but there's also planting of stories."

In the trailer, a journalist said, "There's a war against Meghan to suit other people's agendas."

By the end of the trailer, Prince Harry can be heard saying, "No one knows the full truth, we know the full truth."

The six-part docuseries shed light on the couple's love story and their lives in the royal family. The new trailer has accumulated more than 1 million views on Twitter.

The first part of the docuseries will be released on December 8 and the second part will be released on December 15.

Harry and Meghan, a mixed-race former television actress, cited racism in the royal household as one of the reasons for their acrimonious departure almost three years ago.

The family will be braced for more revelations from the docuseries and Harry's autobiography "Spare", which is due out in January.

Prince Harry, UK Newspaper Agree Pause Of Defamation Case

London: Prince Harry and Associated Newspapers, one of Britain's biggest media publishers, have agreed a temporary pause in his libel claim to try to settle the case, London's High Court heard on Tuesday.

The Duke of Sussex sued the publisher in February over an article in the Mail on Sunday newspaper which alleged he tried to keep secret details of his legal fight with Britain's interior ministry to reinstate his police protection.

Harry - King Charles' son, who with his wife Meghan stepped down from royal duties two years ago - says the Mail on Sunday published an "unremittingly negative" article about his ongoing case against the Home Office. The High Court ruled it was defamatory in July.

Associated Newspapers, however, argues that the article contains "an expression of opinion" about Harry's public statements on his legal case over police protection and is defending the libel lawsuit.

The case returned to court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday at which Harry's lawyer Jane Phillips said the parties have agreed to put the case on hold until mid-January in order to try and negotiate a settlement "if that is indeed possible".

Associated Newspapers applied for Harry to provide further information about a meeting at the royal Sandringham estate in January 2020, when he says he made an offer to pay for or contribute to police protection.

Judge Barbara Fontaine ruled that Harry's lawyers should provide "clarification" about the offer he says he made, which she added would "assist the parties ... in the attempts about [a] settlement, which I hope are successful".

Tuesday's hearing came just days before the release of a much-anticipated Netflix documentary about Harry and Meghan.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Awarded For Sweeping Down Walls Of Oppression

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were honoured for addressing racial justice and mental health at "Ripple of Hope" in New York. The British royals received the award on Tuesday from the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation which honours leaders across government, business, advocacy and entertainment who have shown an "unwavering commitment to social change".

The couple during the gala talked about tearing "down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance," PageSix reported.

Kerry Kennedy, president of the Foundation and daughter of late U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, said the couple had been "incredibly brave" to talk about their experience of racial injustice and mental illness, the Telegraph reported.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was also among those to be honoured by the organisation.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said in a statement that "a ripple of hope can turn into a wave of change," Reuters reported.

The award came days before a much-anticipated Netflix documentary series, amid widespread speculation over what the couple, known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will say about Britain's Royal Family.

Since Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties two years ago and moved to California they have delivered stinging criticism of the British monarchy and accusations of racism, accusations that the family has dismissed.

Trailers for the series showed Harry accusing the royal household of leaking stories about the family and saying that they were ready, to tell the truth about their experience.

Buckingham Palace has released no statements about the documentary series.

Duchess of Sussex is not Diana and comparisons are ‘outrageous’ and ‘lazy’, say former aides

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex must now “get specific” in their allegations of mistreatment at the hands of the palace and press, former aides have urged, as they condemned the “disgusting” Netflix comparison with Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Sussexes, whose six-part documentary begins on Thursday, are due to set out the “challenges” they faced during their time in the Royal family, explaining to a new audience why they felt they had no choice but to leave.

In an incendiary trailer, programme-makers set images of the late Diana, Princess of Wales being chased by paparazzi as the Duke compared the treatment of his wife with that of his mother and spoke of the “dirty game” surrounding the palace.

On Wednesday, former aides called on the Duke and Duchess to use the documentary to finally lay out their grievances in detail, adding to the “emotional narrative” with facts.

Some spoke of the “outrageous” and “lazy” comparison between the Duchess and her late mother-in-law, with one claiming: “It’s as if the facts no longer matter at all.”

Thursday’s Netflix launch will include the first three of six episodes, expected to detail the blossoming relationship of Prince Harry and Meghan and, later, how their life in Britain began to unravel.

The trailer has already been criticised for using dramatic footage and photographs of chaotic paparazzi scenes which were revealed to be unrelated to the couple. Some were taken of the then-Kate Middleton, one at a Harry Potter premiere, and another outside the court case of model Katie Price.

On Wednesday, multiple sources said they were not aware of similarly “scary” paparazzi situations or car chases experienced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to warrant a comparison to the Princess Diana era.

The Duke himself, speaking in the trailer, has said: “No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.”

In a sign of what is to come in the full documentary, called Harry and Meghan, he added: “There’s a hierarchy of the family.

“There’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories. It’s a dirty game.”

Over footage of Diana, Princess of Wales, being pursued by paparazzi, he said: “I was terrified. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”

Old news footage shows the Duchess being hailed as a “rock star” on her introduction to royal life, before - as the Sussexes say in an on-camera interview - “everything changed”.

“I realised, they’re never going to protect you,” says the Duchess.

Former palace aides, some of whom are bound by confidentiality agreements, are becoming increasingly frustrated by the claims, feeling unable to respond to them.

Several pointed out that the Duchess received “glowing” media coverage, with the palace issuing statements on her behalf from the Duke in a “full throttle” effort to support them.

“This is all narrative,” said one of the documentary scenes so far. “They say ‘everything changed’ but what do they mean?

“What was so bad that it warrants making a comparison with Princess Diana? They seem to be equating her death with a few negative stories and gossip.

“Are they talking about [news stories about] tiaras and bridesmaid dresses? Or Thomas Markle? Or the bullying stories?

“And placing it against images of a woman who was hounded in a different era of terrible media and died in a car crash. It’s disgusting.

“If they’re saying they have to flee the UK because of how they were treated, they’ve got to get specific. But they won't, because there’s nothing there.

“This is pure narrative. It’s outrageous, it’s lazy and they can’t be allowed to get away with it anymore. It’s as if the facts no longer matter at all.”

Another said: “So far these are hollow, emotional accusations. It’s never backed up with specific examples or evidence.

“They’re frustrated by negative press, that’s what it boils down to.”

The programme has been given a 15 rating on the grounds of “language” and “discrimination”, suggesting it will strongly tackle the issue of racism.

It will include contributions from Christopher Bouzy, who analysed the negative social media comments about the Duchess, and tells viewers: “It’s about hatred, it’s about race.”

The first three episodes will air on Netflix at 8am UK time on Thursday.

Harry and Meghan Netflix series launches amid controversy

After a blaze of publicity and controversy, Netflix's Harry & Meghan series is beginning on Thursday with three episodes.

It promises to reveal the inside story of how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from royal duties.

Trailers refer to a "war against Meghan", with Prince Harry speaking of the "leaking and... planting of stories" as part of a "dirty game".

Buckingham Palace has not responded to the Sussexes' claims.

There will be intense scrutiny of the series.

A "behind-closed-doors" view of Palace life has been promised, with Prince Harry speaking of the "pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution", in an apparent reference to his wife, Meghan, and mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

The trailers suggest the TV documentary will reveal the love story of how the "clandestine" relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan developed.

But it will also show their account of a changing relationship with the media and the public.

This will be their version of events - and the rest of the Royal Family might be watching to see how far the claims go, if there is any evidence and whether they should officially respond.

"We know the full truth," Prince Harry says, introducing a series with a 15 rating and a warning it deals with "discrimination".

But questions have been raised about some of the images used.

A scene of a press scrum is said to have been taken from an appearance at Crawley Magistrates' Court by TV personality Katie Price, rather than a royal engagement.

On Tuesday, at a New York event where the prince and Meghan received a human rights award, the couple faced awkward questions from reporters: "Are you putting money before family?" and "Are you harming your family, Harry?".

But the dramatic tone of the trailers shows no sign of offering any olive branches, instead suggesting a collision course with the Royal Family.

And the new year will bring the publication of Prince Harry's "unflinching" memoir.

The series is being released in two sections of three episodes, on 8 and 15 December, at 08:00 GMT.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Recall Their First Date In Netflix Docuseries

Netflix on Thursday announced the arrival of the documentary series 'Harry and Meghan' by releasing a short clip of the couple discussing their very first date in London.

"You were late," Meghan recalled to Prince Harry as they were interviewed side-by-side on a sofa. She also revealed how Prince Harry's tardiness almost put her off him because she did not want to date "one of those guys who have so much of an ego that any girl would sit waiting for a half hour for you".

But Prince Harry, who told Meghan at the time that he was stuck in traffic, admitted that he was panicking. "I was freaking out. I was sweating," he said.

Further, in the documentary series, Prince Harry said that he arrived at the date as a "hot, sweaty red ball of a mess". Meghan also revealed that after his arrival she also realised he was "genuinely so embarrassed and late".

The first volume of 'Harry and Meghan' is available to stream on Netflix. The six-part docuseries sheds light on the couple's love story and their lives in the royal family.

In previously released trailers, the Duke of Sussex revealed that he was worried for his wife and thought that she would end up like his late mother, Princess Diana. He said that he feared that "history would repeat itself" when he married Meghan.

Prince Harry spoke about the history of bad treatment against women who enter the royal family. "The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy," Prince Harry said in the trailer. "No one knows the full truth, we know the full truth," he added.

The second volume, containing the last three episodes, will be released on December 15.

Harry & Meghan documentary series gives Netflix a ratings hit

More than two million people watched the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new Netflix series in the UK on Thursday.

The first episode of Harry & Meghan was seen by 2.4 million people on TV sets on its launch day, ratings show.

That is the biggest single-day audience for any Netflix show since the streamer joined ratings body Barb in October.

It is more than double the first-day figure for the latest series of The Crown, and the same number as watched BBC One's EastEnders on Thursday.

The first three episodes in the duke and duchess's highly-publicised six-part series became available on Netflix at 08:00 GMT.

As well as the 2.4 million viewers for the first instalment, episode two had 1.5 million viewers on the first day, and the third part attracted 800,000.

That compares with 1.1 million people who saw the first episode of the fifth series of royal drama The Crown - which features a fictionalised version of a younger Harry - on its launch day last month.

Barb's figures only include people watching Netflix on TV sets.

On traditional TV channels on Thursday, BBC One's The One Show also attracted 2.4 million, ITV soap Coronation Street was watched by 3.5 million, and the most-watched programmes of the day were the BBC News At Six and subsequent regional news, both with 4.1 million.

Netflix's viewing model is more geared to longer-term viewing than traditional TV channels, and series like Harry & Meghan and The Crown will be watched over a longer period, rather than the audience tuning in on the same day.

Harry & Meghan includes interviews with the couple and their friends, as well as their video diary - covering a range of topics, including their difficult relationship with the press and the Royal Family's response to racist articles about Meghan.

Harry said some members of the family felt a negative experience with the media was "a rite of passage".

"Some of the members of the family were like, 'My wife had to go through that, so why should your girlfriend be treated any differently? Why should you get special treatment? Why should she be protected?"'

"I said, 'The difference here is the race element'."

Harry also said how proud he was that his children are mixed race, and that it makes him want to "make the world a better place for them".

"But, equally, what's most important for the two of us is to make sure that we don't repeat the same mistakes that perhaps our parents made," he added.

The couple also spoke about meeting other royals, with Meghan saying she found it surprising that the formality "carries over" even when not in public.

"When Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot. I was a hugger. I've always been a hugger, I didn't realise that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.

"I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside."

Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior royals in 2020 and now live in California with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet.

They have blamed racist coverage in the tabloid press as one reason for their decision.

The final three episodes of their series will be available on Thursday, 15 December.

Meghan Markle's Half-Siblings React To Netflix Docuseries, Call It "Horrible And Disturbing"

Meghan Markle's estranged half-siblings have slammed their sister's Netflix documentary series as "horrible" and "hurtful" towards the family. In the first three episodes of the six-part series which was released on Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reflected on the events leading up to their royal wedding in 2018, resulting in a relationship breakdown with her father.

"If Meg (Meghan Markle) wasn't with me, then her dad would still be her dad," Prince Harry said in the third episode, adding, "She had a father before this, and now she doesn't have a father. And I shouldered that."

Now, reacting to the comment on TalkTV, Thomas Markle Jr. called the whole docuseries, titled 'Harry & Meghan', "a little bit disturbing" and said that the couple made "ridiculous claims". "I think it's horrible. The documentary is so far off on so many different levels, it's really a little bit disturbing," he said.

"Saying that she doesn't have a family and she doesn't have a father and Harry saying that she has no father now, that's just ridiculous," Markle Jr. added. He also stated that the content of the documentary prompted him to reach out to his own production team, which is currently working on a counter-narrative.

"She just basically brushed the entire family under the carpet like we don't exist, and then lied about not having a family, and lied about she doesn't have a family that she's always wanted," he said.

"We've always been here. The documentary is way off. That's what's actually prompted me to work with my own production team and coming out in like 2023 our side of a documentary that's going to shed a lot of light that needs to be shed ... it's going to tell a whole different story," he continued.

Separately, speaking to GB News, Meghan Markle's half-sister Samantha also blasted the series, saying that she hopes their 78-year-old father, Markle Sr., does not watch it. As per New York Post, she said, "He's been through so much - two heart attacks and a stroke - and she enabled this, watched it, did nothing about it, and for Harry to say something like that is egregious."

The six-part docuseries sheds light on the couple's love story and the problems they faced as part of the royal family. The second volume, containing the last three episodes, will be released on December 15.

Meghan Markle's claim there was neither a "class" nor people giving guidance to her on etiquette when she joined the Firm has been branded a "total lie" by a source. They told The Sunday Times: "There was prep for everything, walkabouts - even though she was engaged to someone who'd done hundreds of them - clothes, everything. The level of support was intense."

The Duchess was also presented with a 30-point dossier by Ed Lane Fox, known as "Elf", six months before her nuptials in May 2018, the newspaper claimed.

The dossier by Mr Lane Fox, who was at the time the Duke of Sussex's private secretary, reportedly provided the then actress with vital information she may need for the life she was about to begin, ranging from fashion to the British constitution, from arts in the UK to ladies-in-waiting.

Moreover, each section is said to have included an expert the Duchess could contact for help.

Speaking about Mr Lane Fox's effort, a source also claimed he worked to give Meghan "access to anyone, and he gave her books on the stuff."

Express.co.uk has contacted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's representatives at Archewell for comment.

This rebuttal comes after the Duchess of Sussex mentioned in the third episode of the Harry & Meghan docu-series the popular film The Princess Diaries.

In it, Mia Thermopolis, played by Anna Hathaway, is provided with full-on lessons on how to speak, dress and behave after she discovers to be a princess and heir to the throne of the made-up kingdom of Genovia.

That, Meghan told her interviewer in the documentary, was not her experience.

She said: "There's no class and some person who goes, 'Sit like this. Cross your legs like this. Use this fork. Don't do this. Curtsy then. Wear this kind of hat.' It doesn't happen."

In the episode, Meghan confessed she had never seen pictures or videos of a walkabout before it was arranged for her and Harry to carry out their first joint engagement in Nottingham in the run-up to their wedding.

Harry, sitting next to her, said: "I could talk her through as much as I knew from my own experience of what I'd seen.

"The piece I really didn't know about was the style, right, and what a woman needed to, how they needed to dress and all that."

This wasn't the first time Meghan claimed she was not provided help adjusting to the protocol existing for working Royal Family members.

Speaking with Oprah Winfrey in early 2021, the Duchess said: "There was no guidance, as well, right? There were certain things that you couldn't do. But, you know, unlike what you see in the movies, there's no class on how to speak, how to cross your legs, how to be royal.

"There's none of that training. That might exist for other members of the family. That was not something that was offered to me."

Similarly to what she suggested in Harry & Meghan, the Duchess also told Ms Winfrey "no one thought to say, 'Oh, you are American, you are not going to know [the national anthem]'."

Rather, Meghan said, she had to Google it "late at night".

Royals "Happy To Lie" For Prince William, Claims Prince Harry In New Netflix Trailer

The trailer for the latest episodes of the docuseries on Prince Harry and his wife Meghan was released on Monday, with the royal feud set to escalate with a claim that Buckingham Palace was "happy to lie" for his brother William.

Meghan, 41, separately claims she was "fed to the wolves" after the pair quit royal life in early 2020 and moved to North America

In one excerpt, Harry, 38, accuses Buckingham Palace of "institutional gaslighting" and said "they" were "happy to lie to protect my brother but were never willing to tell the truth to protect us".

The first three episodes of "Harry & Meghan" were released last Thursday, with the couple -- also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex -- criticising the royal family for failing to protect her and his mother Diana against tabloid excesses.

Most of the accusations were against the media and the palace press operation, although the couple did direct several barbs against the royal family, including of unconscious racial bias.

Direct mention of Harry's brother, heir to the throne Prince William, 40, in the latest trailer confirmed suspicions that more pointed criticisms may have been saved for last.

"As we all suspected last week, the gloves are off," wrote Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English while her counterpart at ITV, Chris Ship, said: "It's getting dirty".

Harry in late 2019 all but confirmed a rift with his older brother and the pair have reportedly hardly spoken since, even at the unveiling of a statue of their mother last year and the September state funeral of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

"In previous trailers, Harry has spoken about a 'dirty game' and 'planting' stories," ITV's Ship assessed.

"This clip suggests he is going to blame his brother, or at least the people around him, for some of the stories about the Sussexes which appeared in the press. That is a dramatic escalation."

So far the palace has declined to respond to the programme but commentators suggested it may be forced to if criticism gets personal.

Harry and Meghan Netflix trailer claims Palace planted stories

Buckingham Palace conducted "a real kind of war against Meghan", the duchess's lawyer has claimed.

Jenny Afia said she had "seen evidence that there was negative briefing against Harry and Meghan by the Palace to suit other people's agendas".

She makes the claim in the latest trailer for the couple's Netflix series Harry & Meghan ahead of the release of the second instalment on Thursday.

Buckingham Palace has so far not commented on the series.

Prince Harry said on Tuesday that "they were happy to lie to protect my brother", without specifying who he was talking about, and has previously spoken of the "leaking and... planting of stories" as part of a "dirty game".

But Meghan goes further in the new trailer, claiming the Palace strategically targeted website homepages and newspaper front covers with stories.

"You would see it play out," she says in the trailer.

"A story about someone in the family would pop up for a minute, and they'd go, 'We gotta make that go away.'

"But there's real estate on a website homepage, there is real estate on a newspaper front cover, and something has to be filled in there about someone royal," she says.

Neither Meghan nor anyone else in the trailer offers evidence for the claims.

Later in the trailer, Ms Afia, of Schillings law firm, says that the "barrage of negative articles" about the breakdown of the relationship between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle, was part of a campaign of "nasty" coverage about Meghan.

She does not specifically say that stories about Meghan and her father were planted by the Palace.

A friend of Meghan, Lucy Fraser, adds in the trailer: "Meg became this scapegoat for the Palace. And so they would feed stories on her whether they were true or not to avoid other less favourable stories being printed."

The final three episodes of the documentary will release on Netflix at 08:00 GMT on Thursday.

Three new episodes of Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries are being released today, with Buckingham Palace bracing for more claims from the couple.

The streaming giant will publish the second half of the couple's six-part series at 8am this morning, after releasing the first three episodes earlier this month.

The latest instalments are expected to look at Harry and Meghan's relocation from the UK to the US, and their decision to step back from frontline royal duties in January 2020.

In trailers teasing the final three episodes, Meghan's friend Lucy Fraser, and the Sussexes' lawyer, Jenny Afia, accuse the palace of "feeding" stories about the duchess to the press to avoid other "less favourable" stories from being published.

Ms Afia, a partner at the media law firm Schillings, is first to be featured, speaking as footage of Buckingham Palace is shown.

"There was a real kind of war against Meghan and I've certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other people's agendas," she says.

The trailer moves on to Ms Fraser, who says: "Meg became this scapegoat for the palace, and so they would feed stories on her whether they were true or not, to avoid other less favourable stories being printed."

"You would just see it play out," Meghan then says herself. "Like, a story about someone in the family would pop up for a minute and they go, 'gotta make that go away'.

Harry and Meghan's series has a peculiar feature that raises a difficult question

"But there is real estate on a website home page, there is real estate there on a newspaper front cover, and something has to be filled in there about someone royal."

A previous teaser released at the beginning of the week featured Harry saying "they were happy to lie to protect my brother", referring to Prince William, against images of Buckingham Palace and newspaper headlines including one which read: "Queen orders a hard Megxit".

The final three episodes will air a week after the first three were made available to stream across the world.

In these first episodes, viewers heard from Harry and Meghan talking about the pressure they felt from media interest in their lives, and how they did not feel supported by the Royal Family.

The couple signed lucrative deals, thought to be worth more than £100m, with Netflix and Spotify after quitting as senior working royals in 2020.

Neither Kensington Palace, which represents the Prince and Princess of Wales, nor Buckingham Palace have commented on the series or the most recent trailer, despite the allegations.

Sky News understands palace officials are currently focused on the Princess of Wales's carol service, which is due to be filmed at Westminster Abbey on Thursday.

The event will aim to shine a light on a congregation of almost 2,000 people who have been helping their communities across the UK, as well as remembering the Queen's legacy.

Prince Harry Accuses Royals' Aides Of Briefing Against Him, Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan piled fresh criticism on the British royal family in new episodes of their Netflix documentary series released today, accusing their aides of being part of media attacks.

In the first tranche of episodes released last week, Harry and Meghan launched fierce attacks on the media over their treatment, some of which they said had been racist, but the royals themselves escaped relatively unscathed.

However, there was greater criticism of his relatives and their aides in the final three episodes, accusing them of not just failing to prevent negative coverage in the press, but actively encouraging it.

"It was already clear to the media that the palace wasn't going to protect her. Once that happens, the floodgates open," Harry said.

The couple were also shown talking about a former senior aide to his elder brother Prince William, the heir to the throne, who provided evidence in a legal action Meghan had brought against the Mail on Sunday newspaper that had published a letter she had written to her estranged father.

"It's your brother. Not gonna say anything about your brother, but it's so obvious," Meghan said.

In his evidence the former aide, Jason Knauf, suggested Meghan had been aware at the time that the letter could leak.

"That's why I'm now living in a different country because all the comms (communications) teams basically like try to outdo each other," Harry said. "But this is the contract, the symbiotic relationship between the two institutions working the best that they can."

Netflix included a statement from a representative for Knauf, which said the claims were "entirely false".

The episodes were released just hours before King Charles, his wife Camilla, William and his wife Kate along with other royals will attend a carol service at London's Westminster Abbey to "recognise the selfless efforts of individuals, families and communities across the UK".

"Gloves Are Off": Prince Harry Takes Aim At William In New Netflix Trailer

Prince Harry looked set to turn his fire on his brother William on Thursday, as Netflix airs the final episodes of the docuseries about the disgruntled royal and his wife Meghan Markle.

One trailer for the last three instalments of "Harry & Meghan", released last week, already escalated the row between the brothers, who are reportedly now no longer on speaking terms.

In an apparent reference to Buckingham Palace, Harry, 38, accused his family of "institutional gaslighting" and claimed they were "happy to lie to protect my brother but were never willing to tell the truth to protect us".

Another trailer, released on Wednesday saw Meghan Markle's lawyer, Jenny Afia, alleging a briefing war against the couple by the palace "to suit other people's agendas".

Meghan's friend Lucy Fraser added: "Meg became this scapegoat for the palace.

"And so they would feed stories on her whether they were true or not to avoid other less favourable stories being printed."

Afia said the "barrage of negative articles" about the breakdown of Meghan's relationship with her father was "the final straw in a campaign of negative, nasty coverage about her".

Harry and Meghan, 41, sensationally quit royal life in early 2020 and moved to North America, from where they have launched a series of broadsides about the royal family.

In the first three episodes released last Thursday, the couple -- also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex -- criticised the royal family for "unconscious" racial bias.

They accused the palace of failing to protect Meghan and Harry's mother Diana against tabloid excesses.

Most of their criticisms were directed at the media.

But direct mention of William, 40, in the latest trailer confirmed suspicions that the more pointed criticisms may have been saved for last.

Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English said "the gloves are off" while her counterpart at ITV, Chris Ship, said, "It's getting dirty."

Suggestions that his brother and his entourage were to blame for the negative coverage that Harry and Meghan received was "a dramatic escalation", he added.

'Business as usual'

So far the palace has declined to respond to the programme and disputed claims by Netflix that they were approached to comment on the contents of the series.

Senior royals, led by Harry's father King Charles III, are expected to attend a Christmas carol concert on Thursday in a demonstration of "business as usual".

But commentators suggested they may be forced to act if criticism gets personal, as Harry and Meghan faced calls to give up their royal titles -- or have them removed.

Last week, Harry appeared to take a dig at his older brother and his wife Catherine.

"With many people in the family, especially the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit in the mould," he said.

Netflix said last week's episodes recorded 81.55 million viewing hours globally -- "the highest view hours of any documentary title in a premiere week".

Several British newspapers said the docuseries was an effective declaration of "war" by the couple.

They have already faced claims of trying to sabotage William's first trip to the United States as heir with the release of the first trailer.

A December 9 YouGov poll indicated that the docuseries, which comes three months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, had further dented Harry and Meghan's popularity in the UK.

Harry and Meghan saw their negative ratings with the British public fall to -26 percent and -39 percent after the programmes, from -13 percent and -32 percent before.

Only Harry's disgraced uncle Prince Andrew, who earlier this year settled a US civil claim for sexual assault out of court without admitting liability, was less popular.

He had a -79 percent rating.

King Charles Unlikely To Strip Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Sussex Titles: Report

It seems that King Charles III is not triggered by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's explosive docu-series, titled 'Harry & Meghan'. The monarch is very unlikely to ever strip the Sussexes of their titles, a royal insider told Page Six.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were given the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the late Queen Elizabeth II on the day of their wedding on May 19, 2018. The Queen died on September 8, 2022.

However, the critics of the couple are not happy about the news and said that they should lose their titles after the explosive Netflix show in which they talked about their unhappy life and how Buckingham Palace planted stories.

Piers Morgan tweeted, "King Charles needs to strip these two poisonous rats of all remaining titles and ties to the Royal Family and needs to do it fast before they destroy the monarchy."

A royal expert told Page Six, "Stripping their title is not something the king would likely ever consider ... mostly because it would be too petty and punitive." The expert added, "It would only lead to the Sussexes claiming that it was a retaliatory action and proof they were never wanted in the royal family."

The trailer for the latest episodes of the docuseries on Prince Harry and his wife Meghan was released on Monday, with the royal feud set to escalate with a claim that Buckingham Palace was "happy to lie" for his brother William.

Going to documentary way they have shown they aren't really genuine, but this is the right time for Monarchy to to crash and burn their symbol has passed away and hopefully with this and Andrew issues British people can let go off this nonsense and become a Republic or something.

Have to agree. Difficult to feel sympathy for any side here. Harry comes across as dim and Meghan knew fine well what she was getting into. But the royal family is a stupid concept which passed it's sell by date decades ago. There's nothing royal about them, they are just a bunch of entitled twerps with an equally gormless following.

After the demise of Queen Elizabeth, I don't care about the monarchy at all. So this family feud is annoying and I don't want to hear about it.
