Has PTI given up?

Not sarcastic. Imran isn't the type to slum it out in a prison cell. He is afraid of going to prison hence why he never makes any proper attacks on the army like PPP or PMLN politicians. The guy has lived most of his life in the West or in his comfortable bungalows in Pakistan. Put him, for a couple of months, in jail and he'll drop this entire PTI project and flee.

I have respect for Nawaz Sharif, the true Sher of Pakistan because of his repeated confrontations with the Pakistan army.

Nawaz Sharif the sher of Pakistan lol [emoji23] where is the sher right now? Living in Avenfield enjoying English sausage and muffins every morning

Have these tactics not been applied against the PPP in the 70's, 80's under Zia and PML, PPP from 1999 to 2008? How did their workers remain loyal to their party for so long whereas PTI's senior leadership has wilted in under 2 weeks?

You need to watch this video to understand things are not same;

Brutal tactics!

• House of PTI ticket holder razed in Punjab
• Restaurant of Karachi PTI leader sealed
• Bus stand of PTI’s Amir Dogar sealed in Multan, causing huge inconvenience to commuters

As long as Asim Muneer is in power, there is no chance. It may perhaps be a great strategy to go abroad and humiliate and him personally. But then they could have him knocked off.

Yup PTI is being crushed because they tried to do something that no other party dared to. Foolhardy perhaps.

The chance of him getting killed are pretty high.

Very upsetting!

I just watched the video and it is really saddening.

PTI won and changed the future of Pakistan forever when Imran was abducted.

The desperation of the crooks proves this.

Sorry bro but the Army wiped the floor with PTI in the last week or so

But you'd be the first to cry if people rose up with arms and started shooting down cops and army officials.

Crime esp violence, torture, kidnapping, threats, sexual abuse is cowardly, not anything brave which can wipe the floor.

I have no idea why you even bother typing.

“Crime esp violence, torture, kidnapping, threats, sexual abuse is cowardly, not anything brave which can wipe the floor.“

I’ve not seen any proof of that. What I have seen is able body men and women being toned down, humbled and changing their tune. That’s what I can see. Not what I have to imagine because PTI supporters believe it to be the case

Given that everyone here has seen how easy it is for the khakis to manufacture cases against politicians they don't like, will you give the benefit of doubt to Nawaz Sharif too ?

Remember he was ousted in 2016 on the pretext of phoney Panama scandal cases because the army wanted him out, just like how the army now wants to get rid of IK.

Honest pakistanis here on PP must admit this. Nawaz Sharif was innocent when he got disqualified.

This is so suspicious - what pressure is being put on these people and by whom?

This is so suspicious - what pressure is being put on these people and by whom?

So sad to see. This man is well known by all Pakistanis around the world. I remember as a child his music was on reguraly in our house. Loved songs like Nach Panjaban and Bilo, true classics. He used to bring a smile on the faces of those in rallies, singing some of his tunes to the audiance.

A man who smiled so much, with a lot courage to be seen like this shows how evil this regime is.

The threats are towards the children, mothers, daughters and parents. No Muslim would ever instill such fear to others. He has no choice like the rest.

Will be interesting to see what the KPK lot do as Ali Muhammad Khan Asad Qiaser etc but I guess the pressure is to make Punjab a bed of roses for status quo henceforth the threats and bullying tactics mostly in this region after it has 148 NA seats, heard Amir Dogar got out of prison in a bid to hold presser but escaped to unknown place with leaving Pti

If you want to have a meaningful discussion, post some proper arguments.

Now deep breaths and start again...

Those are kidnapped are told that if they do not defect from PTI, their wives would be kidnapped, stripped and their videos made public. A PTI leader sobbed and told this in a press conference.

People still support the army in Pakistan after all of this?

You can be a cornered tiger in game of cricket. Not in politics. You have to be able to deal with worst of your enemies and be on talking terms. A politician who thinks too highly of himself or who think he can never talk to someone is over. Politics is the art of possibility. Whether it was foreign relations or domestic politics, Imran did not get this. He has burned bridges and has projected himself as someone you cannot work with.

Now there could always be disputes and disagreements. But there should always be a window open for new possibilities. Imran Khan showed that his incapable of this flexibility and has a very high ego. This is untenable for any politician.

With PDM failing miserably, with the economy skinning, if the establishment is focussed on getting rid of the opposition, you know you have got your politics wrong. If you had done this right, all you had to do was sit back and see the mess unfold. Do not provoke the Army. And rest will be taken care by the people.

PTI’s Ali Zaidi announces to quit politics, resign from party positions

PTI Sindh President Ali Haider Zaidi has announced his decision to “quit” politics and resign from positions within the PTI, describing it as a “difficult decision” that he arrived at after “extensive deliberation”.

In a video message, Zaidi affirmed his commitment to serving Pakistan and emphasised that his initial purpose for joining politics was to contribute to the betterment of the country.

“I have already condemned the May 9 incidents. Whatever happened was wrong, and all those responsible should be brought to justice regardless of who was involved in it,” he said, while emphasising the significance of the Pakistan Army. Zaidi expressed his belief that the Pakistan Army is a source of pride for the nation, stating, “We sleep peacefully because of them as they protect our borders.”

He went on to say: “After extensive deliberation, I have made the decision to quit politics. Consequently, when I step away from politics, I will also tender my resignation from positions held within the PTI, including my role as an MNA and core committee member.”

Zaidi concluded by reiterating his dedication to serving Pakistan and attracting foreign investments, ending his message with the declaration of “Pakistan Army Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad.”

PTI’s Khusro Bakhtiar decides to leave party positions over May 9 violence

PTI leader Khusro Bakhtiar has announced to leave party positions, saying the “May 9 incidents” led him to reevaluate his alignment with PTI’s ideology.

In a video message, Bakhtiar revealed his plan to resign from key positions, including his membership in the core committee and presidency of the South Punjab chapter.

He emphasised that these May 9 events had compelled him to create some distance between himself and the PTI.

You can see why the army has 100% win record against its own people. It's incisive in suppressing voices, destroying institutions and silencing media. Honestly even CCP would be proud of the speed and execution.

It's over for Imran in short term. But if he hangs in there, the situation is so volatile, anything can happen. He has to lie low and stay quiet for a bit.

Not 100%. Some Pakistani people have won against their army.

Isn’t this the guy who said he would rather be shot in the forehead instead of giving up on Khan and PTI? He said this less than a week ago

Correct

"Unfazed by the rumors, Ali Zaidi, in an impassioned speech, declared that he would not succumb to any pressure to abandon the party he had dedicated 23 years of his life to. In a bold assertion, Zaidi challenged his detractors, saying, “If you want me to leave PTI, shoot me in the head. No one can force me to take this step.” His emotions visible, Zaidi asserted that PTI was his party, and he would only depart when his party chairman, Imran Khan, chose to do so."

Not 100%. Some Pakistani people have won against their army.

I know you are referring to the events of 1971, but it backed by a more powerful military (India). The situation was completely different.

You seem proud of what they are doing. I guess therein lies the problem too.

I’m not proud. I’m not happy about the fact that most probably people’s freedom of expression is being suppressed here

However, there is no denying the fact that the Pak Army has enhanced or enforced its image as one hell of a ruthless and professional unit the way they have pretty much CHANGED these so called revolutionaries

Yeah but who are they suppressing. Their own people. Sure I acknowledge that they do it well. Even Zia did it well. But what exactly did he do ? Army's job is at the frontier. If they are in state affairs, country will become next Libya or Syria. In fact there is a degree of inevitability about it.

Taking out PTI could be justified because they brought them in first place. But this stricture is not just unsustainable but it's going to burst anytime. There won't be Pakistan left. Only few rich billionaire army men. Btw Bajwa just bought $2.7 MN penthouse in Dubai. That's who they are.

To protect the nation

And to maintain the structure that ensures law and order

They are doing their job

This is NOT their job.

Only if the Government in power asks them to intervene are they to come out - that too under the supervision of the Gov.

I suspect you know that already.

Every Pakistani national they hurt are the people who they work for.

I’m sorry but if your country is on the brink of going to the dogs with people threatening to destroy government buildings and taking down government institutions because a guy has been arrested

Then the Armed forces must step in. They are trained to counter terrorism. That’s what they have done. Not only have they countered it, but also they will do what they can to remove the seeds of it by sending out strong messages. They have been successful in doing that too

Bro

The country was attacked by PPP supporters in 2007.

No military courts came into play.

And we all know that this is not terrorism, this is people displaying their frustrations. In fact the way forward should have been a reconciliatory one.

The Armed Forces have now pitted themselves against the very people they are there to defend at the borders which is the exact OPPOSITE of what should happen.

These are wounds that will fester for years.

For the first time since Musharraf's time, we had a feeling that the Military had drawn a clear line to what they were doing.

Pakistan's ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan has had a tough few weeks. Thousands of his supporters are in jail. Dozens from the leadership of his party have left - and it it could even be banned. Mr Khan himself could potentially be called before a military court.

"You think it is a big crisis for me, I don't," he tells me.

We are sitting inside a portacabin in the courtyard of his home, Zaman Park. It has been turned into a media room where Mr Khan now conducts his live broadcasts on his social media platforms and his interviews - trying to win the narrative argument that he hasn't lost his chance at re-election.

That's a difficult argument to make with his Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party so depleted. This week he lost more than two dozen colleagues, including Fawad Chaudrey, the PTI's former senior vice president, and Sherin Mazari, previously Mr Khan's human rights minister.

"Firstly, we will fill in all the positions of people who have left," he says. "So have younger blood, newer people coming in. They'll probably get arrested, too."

I ask if a political party can be run that way.

"You can use these terror tactics for only a short time. The whole situation is untenable."

But there's no suggestion that the crackdown on his party is about to let up.

Behind the scenes his supporters acknowledge that the situation is tough, although some insist that this is when Mr Khan is at his best - relishing a fight-back.

He is looking increasingly isolated. Gone are the crowds of supporters who had been ever-present at the gates to his home on all our previous visits to Lahore. Now many those inside the security gates are the party's lawyers.

Mr Khan is sounding more conciliatory. He is widely believed to have lost power because of a rift with the army, but now wants to talk to them. To suggest the military would have no role in Pakistan's politics is a "fool's paradise", he says.

"I'm curious to know how do they think - and by them I mean the establishment - that by getting me out of the race, how will Pakistan benefit?"

If talks with the military were difficult before, it's hard to see why the army would want to speak to Mr Khan now when he is in a far weaker political position. He gave us no indication of what he would put on the table that wasn't an option before, saying only that he was offering talks.

Mr Khan has faced dozens of charges, from corruption to sedition, since he was ousted last year. So his arrest on 10 May was not unexpected.

It followed the collapse of other talks - on that occasion with the government - about when to hold provincial and national elections. It looks as if a deal was possible.

But the talks broke down in what feels like a political miscalculation.

The former prime minister insists this is not the case.

He flatly denies any similarity between the arrest of members of his party leadership and the jailing of political opponents when he was in office.

"95% of the cases against the opposition were before our time, the cases were ongoing," he says.

Stuck in what appears to be a political corner, what is next for Mr Khan? Either there is no grand plan, yet, or Mr Khan isn't eager to share it.

"I'm just watching this whole scenario, wait and see. It's possible that they'll put me in jail.

"The idea that I would give in to this or I will accept this and keep quiet about it, it's not going to happen."

No further details are shared.

Imran Khan will continue to fight. He has already achieved and given Pakistan all that he could as a sportsman and philanthropist.
Reaching at the top as a cricket player , serving the masses as philanthropist and then reaching at the very top of the politics while becoming most popular politician in the country. His fighting spirit and never say die attitude has brought him all the success in various fields. To achieve all this, he has suffered a lot from his family life to his safety.
I hope he continues to fight till the last ball. He has his own weaknesses as a human but I believe he is the greatest Pakistani of all times.

Thats one thing to arrest the people who attacked government buildings. However the forced divorces of politicians from PTI, especially since everyone from IK down has condemned violence of May 9th, is not their job.

I think they never gave up but they know they are not going to get a level playing field in elections.

PTI's 'full-fledged' election campaign to kick off on Saturday

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) senior leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Thursday that his party would kick start the election campaign on January 20 (Saturday) as the February 8 general polls near.

The embattled PTI’s major rivals — the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) — have already commenced nationwide campaigns and distributed tickets for national and provincial constituencies.

Founded by Imran Khan, the party rose to power in the centre in 2018 but was ousted in April 2022 via a no-confidence move. It has since been reeling from the back-to-back setbacks.

The party’s founder was jailed in May last year, its electoral symbol — a major voter driving force was taken away this month, and the party — PTI-Nazriati — with which it sought an alliance also backtracked from its commitment.

However, the party has vowed not to boycott the polls and run without its iconic electoral symbol. Since the 'bat' symbol has been taken away, all its candidates will be running with different signs.

“The PTI will begin its full-fledged election campaign on Saturday [...] workers should bear hardships till then and await victory on February 8. You are advised to focus on the election campaign,” Gohar said on Thursday while engaging with reporters in Rawalpindi.

About the distribution of tickets, as the party has not announced candidates for all the National Assembly seats, Gohar said they would be finalised tonight and a complete list of all party candidates would be issued tomorrow.

With the party already facing several hurdles on its road to election, intense infighting was witnessed as central spokesperson, Raoof Hasan, and Vice-President Sher Afzal Marwat levelled allegations against each other in recent days.

Marwat, who was campaigning in Karachi, was called back by the party on directions of incarcerated founder Khan through a notification. However, it seems that the party has resolved the issue.

“We will not need notifications from now on. He [Marwat] is always in contact with us. He went to Karachi; he will now go again to Sindh, Punjab, and KP,” Gohar said, vowing that the leader would lead a full-fledged election drive.

Maqbooliat, popularity, street power, mass appeal is useless if the Pakistani Military establishment and the major international establishment ie USA, UK do not allow you back in power.

IK thought he was Invincible because of his Maqbooliat and he could do whatever he wanted to upset the major domestic and international brokers without any personal consequences.

Lol, this is aging well so far. IK has done way better than expected in Prison. No one expected he would have lasted this long.

IK biggest own goals apart from dissolving the assemblies was the extension of Bajwa and then agreeing to sign of on Asim Munir as the COAS.

He was warned in advance that Munir was very ruthless and harboured deep hatred for IK and PTI and IK could have blocked his appointment via Arif Alvi stating Munir was technically retired and did not meet the criteria for the COAS position. Munir was handpicked by NS who knew full well he will turn the army into Punjab Police. IK gambled and thought by agreeing to Munirs appointment, it will held to build bridges for the PTI, himself with the establishment.

Now Munir is maximizing each and every day in power like no tomorrow to wipe out the PTI and the scary thing is he has another two years left in office.

Yeah, IK seems very naive with practical experience on man management. Politics requires lots of compromises and ability to work with anyone and everyone. Even the all powerful BJP in india needs support of other parties to get anything passed as they don't have majority all the time in upper house. IK fought with every Tom duck and Harry and now struggling to find supporters who will help them back in government. Power in Pakistan comes from establishment and not democracy. He was a beneficiary from the same system and he should know how to play it

The current scenario has put PTI on the back foot. With their election symbol gone, it has paved the way for other parties to cash in on this decision by SC. Many Parties have tried to end PTI once and for all but this in not happening as of yet. Establishment will play it's part now.

Whoever is the next Imran Khan - be it today or 20 years from now, should learn from IK's mistakes: inviting other party's rejects to his party, making a deal with the devil and extending his tenure, upsetting key creditors like KSA, USA, China, and so on.

For once, Imran khan was the guy who stood against the US and told them they would do no more now. They will not fight their wars for a few pennies and he was punished for that.

PTI announces public rallies in a lead-up to Feb 8 polls

In defiance of formidable challenges, the PTI has announced its intention to conduct public rallies nationwide in a lead-up to the Feb 8 general elections.

As the elections approach near, the party encounters significant obstacles due to an apparent rise in authoritative actions by the state apparatus, particularly in Punjab, the nation's largest province.

Facing a lack of equitable opportunities, PTI has resorted to an innovative approach, utilising the internet and social media for their election campaign.

Following an unsuccessful legal battle to protect its iconic election symbol "bat," the party has sequentially launched websites to assist voters in identifying PTI-backed candidates and their respective symbols.

Notably, the pticandidates.com database, created by the party, has been blocked by authorities. In response, a deceptive website, pticandidate.com, has emerged, displaying fake PTI candidates to confuse voters. To counteract this strategy, the party introduced another website during its virtual convention, showcasing PTI candidates and their symbols at insafpk.github.io/pticandidates.

Additionally, a Meta Messenger Bot on Imran Khan's official Facebook page automatically provides candidates’ names and symbols in response to constituency numbers sent as messages, along with a link to the PTI WhatsApp channel for the same constituency.

During a virtual convention, PTI candidates from all four provinces voiced their concerns. Zartaj Gul Wazir, the PTI candidate from NA-185, lamented her restricted access to the constituency of Dera Ghazi Khan, with reports of her workers being arrested and impediments to electioneering.

She highlighted the administration's apparent influence on printers not to produce posters and panaflexes featuring her name and picture of PTI founding Chairman Imran Khan.

Momina Basit, PTI candidate from PK-33, vehemently denounced the derogatory remarks made by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif about the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

She hailed the K-P's electorate move, noting their discernment in granting second chances to those deemed beneficial for the province.

Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, PTI candidate for NA-127 Lahore, urged voters to actively participate in the Feb 8 elections, emphasising the PTI's commitment to supremacy and the rule of law in the country.

Various other PTI candidates also addressed the virtual convention.

Good show by PTI today despite the resistance against them
So the fascists tried to stop the public that are anti fascists gathering and got their ****( metaphorically) kicked. To think that the PPP, with its traditions has been brought so openly has come as shock and has ended Billos career before it even started. We know the Nooras were always like this, they are Zias children and they never had democratic bone in their body. This selection has shown everyone what they really are,a bunch of corrupt thugs that can never win elections without the Generals and intimidation

The last nail in the coffin was from NS yesterday who in a speech mentioned some of KPK as foolish and silly , only to increase resentment and anger in the region, massive PTI rallies in Karak Tank area
