Pakistan Super League has received a major boost from HBL who have reacquired the title sponsorship of the PCB’s pinnacle tournament for another four-year cycle (2022-2025).

HBL not only exceeded the reserve price in reacquiring the rights but sealed it with a 55 per cent jump from last cycle, which speaks volumes of their belief in the PSL brand.

HBL earned title sponsorship rights following a public tender process in which seven interested parties had collected the bid documents.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja: “I am delighted that the HBL have further strengthened their bond and relationship with the Pakistan Cricket Board by committing to support the Pakistan Super League for another four years. Reality is that HBL, in fact, have been investing in the future stars of Pakistan cricket through PSL for which we are eternally grateful.

“Their decision to continue the partnership is also a validation and endorsement of the brand and product the HBL PSL has become, thanks to the untiring efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board staff and our valued franchises. Both the PCB and franchises, with the patronage of HBL, have worked tirelessly to make the league glamorous, entertaining and exciting for the fans as well as the shortest format specialists who are keen to feature in it.”

HBL Chief Operating Officer Sagheer Mufti: “HBL is pleased to renew its commitment to Pakistan’s largest sporting platform, Pakistan Super League (PSL) for a further four years. This will mark HBL’s support for this national initiative for 10 years, since its inception in 2016. HBL remains committed to playing its part in promoting Pakistan and cricket.”

HBL Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Ali Habib: “HBL is all about ‘enabling dreams’ and this synchronizes perfectly with PSL’s philosophy to provide an enabling platform to the young, emerging cricketers of the country. HBL wishes PCB all the success in staging this mega sporting platform that provides fans the world over the opportunity to enjoy the best that cricket has to offer.”

Indians will laugh at the amounts. It's peanuts vs the billions they earn through the IPL

In any case, the franchises will get 98% of the amount and still cry about losses

22.5 million a year is still under value but with current market situation should be ok

Indian market is big and we all understand and appreciate that.

PSL is a great brand from Pakistan’s perspective.

The difference between BCCI and PCB announcements.

BCCI always disclose the amount - PCB ones - usually this comes out later!

Yeah I was searching the figure in the article because that's usually the headline when Vivo or Byjus win sponsorship rights.

Guess Ramiz likes to keep it under wraps, he's a smooth operator:raja

It’s not under wraps tbh. Last cycle it was 14.6 million/ year and it clearly says 55% increase which equals to 22.16

And it’s mentioned on wiki too as 22.2

I think $22.6 million per year is a pretty decent amount. It has quadrupled in value since the first cycle.

IPL title sponsorship from Vivo was approx $65 million per year in latest cycle, for the record.

It is actually a very very good amount when you think that the market for India is potentially at least 6 times bigger than the Pakistani market, but the IPL sponsorship deal is only about 3 times more than the PSL amount.

Not sure why the Pakistani posters are calling it a modest deal.

While Star India will pay Rs 3,269.5 crore to the BCCI for broadcasting rights, it will earn Rs 440 crore from Vivo as title sponsor along with Rs 220 crore from the five official sponsors, and another Rs 60 crore from umpire and strategic time-out sponsorship

Yes, was only talking about title sponsorship.

PSL broadcast deal expires next year - was $36 million for 3 years so will be interesting to see what increase there is (this deal was over triple the previous one). No idea about other sponsorship amounts (e.g. strategic time out type things) but am sure someone could find out.

It's an acceptable amount imo. PSL will grow as well along with IPL. These two things can't be separated

If the numbers are correct, PSL actually has a bigger sponsorship deal per capita than the IPL, which frankly I was surprised to find out. It's growing very well indeed.

Lol, it's not $22.6 per year. It is $22.6 over 4 years which is around $5.5 million per year. BCCI gets $60 million per year from the title sponsorship alone. I am not happy with the job the PCB has done here. It should have been at least $10-15 million per years

It is 22.2 every year smh. In last cycle it was 14.6/ year. The first edition itself was 5.3/ year. Smh

Comparing india to Pakistan without realizing the population of India is atkeast 6-7 times more.

Atleast multiply the numbers by that to do a fair apples to apples comparison

Someone needs to double check this. I think it's $22.1 million for 4 years in total. If it is per year then the PCB has done very well and I take my words back

I doubt HBL has the pockets to pay $88 million over 4 years to the PCB. It can't be $22 million per year

Had annual revenue of $720 million in 2017. They can afford it.

Every source I have seen has given the title sponsorship figure as annual and until I see otherwise, I am assuming it is annual.

$22 million/year will be almost twice the PSL broadcasting rights. The broadcasting rights is $36 million for three years.

Is the title sponsorship worth more than TV broadcasting?

What are the other companies who were involved in the bidding process?
1. HBL
2. PEPSI

Why do they get 98 % so what does the pcb actually make then

PCB is spineless.

They should have punished the franchises for their idiotic behavior and bubble breaches so that they knew their place.

The reason the current franchises are so scared of new teams being introduced is that they know how badly they'd get hammered if a professional franchise was formed.

Definitely

The pcb should be firing the shots not the franchise.

As per unconfirmed media reports, there was only one bidder ( HBL). The sponsorship amount is for 4 years with a total amount of 22 million dollars. Per year it's 5.50 million.

5.5 million per year simply cannot be true. 5 million per year was for 1st PSL, multiple media reports are saying that indeed there were 7 parties involved in bidding process.

[Reports] Pakistan Super League 7 draft to be held in Lahore on 8th December, 2021

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday has decided to carry out drafting for Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) new season on December 8 in Lahore.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by PCB chairman Ramiz Raja. The participants also decided to start the tournament in last week of January 2022.

Sources told that the international players will arrive in Pakistan on January 15. All the teams have been directed to report at Karachi’s private hotel on the same day.

The final of PSL will be played in Gaddafi Stadium.

In what was another boost for the HBL Pakistan Super League, Trans Group International today submitted the highest bid, pursuant to a public tender process, for the brand partnership rights for a four-year-term, beginning in 2022 and stretching till 2025.

The brand partnership rights were divided into two categories: seven category rights and one umpire sponsorship rights.

In a highly competitive bidding process, Trans Group International submitted their bids for category rights and umpire sponsorship rights at mammoth increase of 219 and 168 per cent from the last deals.

PCB Chief Operating Officer and Bid Committee Chair Salman Naseer: “Trans Group International has been a supporter of HBL Pakistan Super League since its inception and I am thankful for the continuation of their immense support to the brand.

“Such substantial increase in the brand partnership rights highlights how big the brand of the HBL Pakistan Super League has become and I am sure the Pakistan cricket fans will enjoy the upcoming edition.”

Trans Group International Director Rao Omar Hashim Khan: “The HBL Pakistan Super League is arguably the biggest brand in Pakistan and it brings together all Pakistanis. We are proud to be once again partnering with the Pakistan Cricket Board for one of the most successful and exciting cricket leagues in the world. Our unwavering support for Pakistan Cricket knows no bounds.”

Earlier, a consortium of ARY and PTV submitted the bid for TV broadcast rights in Pakistan at an increase of 50 per cent, while Daraz submitted the bid for live-streaming in the country at a rise of 175 per cent from the last deal.

The seventh edition of HBL Pakistan Super League will kick off at Karachi’s National Stadium on 27 January when defending champions Multan Sultans play 2020 edition’s winners Karachi Kings. The event will conclude in Lahore on 27 February with the final at Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan’s home of cricket.
